Value at a great price
My old Android tablet died and I needed a new one for a couple of tasks I regularly use it for. My main need is to control an audio mixer for a PA system. Since a compatible software install was available for the Fire 8 this has worked out great. The cost is hard to beat. I got the 8 plus with added storage and the add removal and it was still cheaper than my previous tablet. The screen looks awesome to me but I’m not a screen snob so take it as hearsay. The built in apps all seem to work well. Hulu is available which is nice as it isn’t available for normal Android tablets. On the other hand the App Store is pretty pathetic. No Youtube app so if you use Youtube TV you won’t be happy. Normal Youtube can be viewed in the browser so no big deal for me. No Rumble app. No Brave browser which is my preferred (I did get it to work from a sideload even though it says it’s not supported it works fine.). Most other media apps are here like Pluto TV, Tubi, Netflix, ESPN etc. and they all seem to work well. Most of the built in apps seem to be obvious data hogs to suck up your personal info and suck it into the Amazon databases. I don’t like the photo app for this same reason. I do not store my data in any “cloud”. The cloud is just a fancy name for someone else’s computers where they have access to your data. That said the tablet performs well, just be careful with your settings and what you put on it. The only other real complaint is the locked down home launcher. It has the appearance of the Amazon store homepage. It’s ugly and the functionality and customization is very limited. It’s not a deal breaker for my needs but it would be nice if Amazon could find a middle ground to allow more customization and still meet their marketing needs which is the obvious goal of this inexpensive offering. All things considered if you don’t mind the intentional limitations and mostly plan to use it for reading and media then this deal is well worth it. Very happy with my choice so far.Update: It made it 11 months. For some unknown reason it turned off two days ago and is a brick. No power, no charging light, reset doesn’t work, it’s just dead. I really liked the usefulness of this tablet and used it daily. Now I’m debating if I should replace it or get a more expensive brand that may last longer and be more flexible.

Good Low Priced Tablet
I got my fire hd8+ as a christmas gift mainly to read my large collection of ebooks. Loading my books seems to be convoluted but I am managing. Kindle app works well. Still trying to find my way around the file system. It was easy to setup wifi and bluetooth.

Excellent new model
This will be my 4th Kindle. As I age, I really find I can read much easier when I can adjust the size of the font for reading. and that is my one quibble about this new Fire 8…the “large size font” is NOT large enough for me. I can read it, but I still have to find out if it is possible to double the size of the font. Otherwise, I love this new model and will use it in concert with my older Fire 7. All the features are just great. I can access my many music recordings and plug ion my earphones while I read. What’s not to like?

Good for E Books
Works well for what I wanted it to do, allow me to read e-books. The ability to browse the Internet and some of the apps are nice features but the main seller for me was the kindle book reader and store. Nice to be able to carry large volumes of books on this device.

One of the best tablets for the price
I already own multiple iPads and higher end Android tablets. Why did I end up buying the Amazon Fire HD 8 Plus and give it a 5 star rating? This tablet simply exceeded my expectations.I was in the market for a smaller lighter tablet to read books and manga. As good as my other tablets are, they are not easy to hold for multiple hours of reading. Holding a metal and glass tablet with a 10.6 inch screen gets tiring over a few hours. The screen on this Amazon tablet is more than adequate for reading books from the Kindle app. This is near perfect for manga since the screen size is similar to paper manga. Images and text appear nice and clear.Installing the Google Play store was easy. I need apps like Google Home, Keep, Drive, and GBoard. YouTube works just fine.My use case is rather easy to handle. I let my kids test this tablet. If it can keep up with my kids, then it can handle what I need a tablet for. When I handed this off to my kids, they just went overboard on games. They couldn’t find all of the games they play in the Amazon shop store, so I’ll be referencing some games from the Google Play store.Roblox is a popular app for my kids. The overall performance was good. It really depends on which game they are playing from Roblox. Piggy ran well. Broken Bones was very jittery but playable. Yeet-a-friend plays well if you disable some of the extra options for the game itself. Cookie Swirl C World is playable, but was not the smoothest. Spray Paint played well. Spider also played well. Random OBEEs splayed well. Here is the pattern I noticed with Roblox. If the game supports a large lobby, then there is a greater chance that the game runs a bit slower. I noticed that the large lobby games are running a bit slow, but my kids didn’t care. They were still happily playing and winning without issues.Granny Chapter 1 and 2 play well.Gacha Life and Gacha Club ran well.Among Us ran well. They were playing more games, but I couldn’t keep up with their long list.Overall, this tablet can run games well enough. It won’t be as smooth as a higher end tablet, but I didn’t notice any random crashes. My kids would have definitely complained about it. If you are considering this tablet for your kids to play games, you need to consider which games they are playing.Surprisingly TikTok worked well. When swiping through videos, it may take a second to load before it plays. I don’t notice that issue on my other tablets. After the initial pause, the videos play well.Since reading and productivity were my main concern, it’s a 5 star tablet for the price. Games are just the icing on the cake. Since I don’t play them often it would not have been a concern for me. Now I have another device to hand off to my kids in those just in case situations.

Get the Plus Version
On paper, the differences between the HD and HD Plus seemed insignificant if you don’t care about the wireless charging, so I originally bought the standard HD. I returned it within a couple of weeks because it was sometimes maddeningly slow. I wasn’t gonna buy this one, though, because it doesn’t even have a faster processor, just a little bit more RAM. But I also didn’t want to spend the money for an iPad mini when I mostly want to use it as an e-reader. So I was gonna settle for a decent android tablet for a little more money than a fire. Fortunately there was a shipping issue with that tablet that coincided with another great sale on the Fire tablets, so I gave the Plus a shot. This is just my experience with two fire tablets, and maybe the first tablet had some sort of defect, but the difference between the HD and the HD Plus has been enormous. No the HD Plus is not as zippy and responsive as an iPad, but it’s been way better than the first HD Fire. It’s very usable and perfectly responsive for the few apps that I use, and again it’s a great e-reader. Screen is bright and sharp enough for reading, video, and games. My first HD 8 even struggled as an e-reader sometimes, taking a long time to load the Kindle app, or page turns not being as responsive as they should be.And as a bonus, I got the wireless charging stand. It’s a surprisingly pleasant bonus to just plop it there when I’m done using it and to never have to plug a cord in.

Definitely runs smoother than the regular version!
It’s still a budget tablet, but a very useful one. Especially for the money. I would say even if you’re just using your Fire tablet for browsing the net, and/or reading books, there’s a smoother run and less glitching. Compared to the regular HD 8, it’s noticeable in things like when I’m exercising and want to use the text to speech function, it doesn’t glitch nearly as much. I was having to stop doing what I’m doing and restart the text to speech function a lot more on the regular version. Does the plus version still glitch now and then? Yes, but not so much that it’s annoying me almost every time I use it. And I’m not talking about an older Fire tablet, but the newest version of the regular HD 8 I returned for the plus version. It’s worth the $20 extra for that alone! Results may vary. These are mine and I hope it helps if you’re having similar issues and wondering if the upgrade to the plus will help.I also connected a Bluetooth keyboard which makes it a LOT more productive. And my AirPods connect easily as well. I have no issues taking this to a library or cafe to write, get some work done, and can listen to music on the Amazon music app while I’m at it. Also, the split screen function on the regular version was not able to consistently split the screen in equal halves without glitching and minimizing one half if the screen. The plus keeps the split consistently. So if you’re on a budget, or just looking for a small inexpensive table you can toss in bag and not worry a whole lot about what happens to it, this is pretty easily replaced, but durable enough to stand getting bounced around. I’ve had the Fire 7 and an HD10. This is the right size for holding in your hands while reading and for portability. Best Fire tablet I’ve owned so far.

Can’t go wrong with this!
This is my 3rd Fire HD tablet I have bought over the years and they have never disappointed! Now that I get to try the fire HD plus I notice much improved battery life and charging time is way faster than previous I love that they are not hard to use Very easy to go through all the different features The screen resolution looks Good could be a little better maybe I imagine on the fire HD10 that it looks amazing But this Screen this looks Fine For the average person. Also there is no lag at all when playing my video games So that’s a plus I bought a used model And I would have gave it 5 stars for sure if it wasn’t for a crack on the screen. I’ve always had great luck with used an open box items from amazon I do not believe it was amazon’s fault as the box it came in Look like it was smashed on part of it. There are many features that I love on this Especially the ability to add more memory and the wireless charging. Much bang for the buck Definitely a must for a awesome Christmas gift Young and old alike!

So far, so good
This was my second Fire tablet. I left it plugged into the charger almost constantly instead of unplugging after it was fully charged. These tablets are intended to be removed from the charger when full, and allow the battery to drain somewhat before re-charging. I didn’t abide by the instructions, and the 1st Fire tablet stopped working after 2 years – that’s entirely my fault.I use the tablet as a secondary Internet access beside my recliner when something comes up on TV for which I am unfamiliar, or I want to check the weather, etc. After initially charging the new, smaller Fire tablet, it was still at 30% after 2 weeks.I put it on the wireless charging cradle I purchased along with the new tablet. Initially it indicated the tablet would take about 2 days to charge full, but it only took about 10 hours before I heard the beep that indicated it was charged. It’s been about 9 days since the second charging, and the tablet still has over 50% left. Granted, I don’t use the tablet constantly, but that seems a long time for it to hold a charge. This new tablet is smaller by 2″, but it has the same clarity on the screen. The built-in speakers are adequate for the size and have clarity. I also was able to cast to the Fire TV very easily, and can use the tablet to control the basic functions on the Fire TV if I lose track of the regular control. The goblin in the recliner will sometimes “hide” the remote from my sight. This happens more often than you would think. My roommate declares i had a “senior moment” and simply misplaced the remote, but I’m sure there is a goblin somewhere in the living room that hides the remote as a prank.I’ve searched extensively on Amazon to find some goblin repellent that would deter my remote being purposely hidden from my sight, but as yet haven’t had any luck. I’ll keep checking back to see if Amazon adds some vendor with goblin repellent. They seem to have everything else I might need.I have confidence that this new tablet will last a few years if I abide by the recommendation of removing from the charger when full to prevent over-charging. By the way, the remote charging cradle is also very nice.

No one needs more tablet than this!
At least if, like me, you use your tablet as your main source for consuming various media such as books, magazines, newspapers, movies, music, podcasts, the Fire HD 8+ is really the perfect tablet for you. I would definitely add that its performance is more than satisfactory for simple tasks like writing emails or drafting documents in general, or if you want to review and comment on PDFs or text documents. The caveat, as with all Fire TV tablets, is of course the limited availability of apps in the Amazon App Store when it comes to productivity, but I have to say that the features of this tablet completely make up for it. The screen quality is absolutely comparable to much more expensive devices on the market, the sound quality even when listening to music is quite impressive for a sub-$100 tablet, the responsiveness of the touchscreen is absolutely acceptable, and the processor speed is excellent for moving image consumption. The limited storage capacity can easily be made up for with a memory card that allows you to add up to 256 GB.The size of the Fire 8 is also perfect for me, it’s absolutely enough for good readability, it’s also more than enough if I have to write emails, and also very good if I want to watch films or series on the go.

Its a somewhat limited tablet
Bought this after researching putting the Google play store on it. Got the play store installed fine but a few apps will not run on this tablet regardless. Can’t really deduct points for that since Google play is not officially supported but its still a minor annoyance. Other than that it seems to work well if you can live with the heavy Amazon focus. Deep Alexa integration and works well as an e-reader. Battery life seems good so far. Only had a week so far.Bigger complaint is that I paid extra to have no lock screen ads and Amazon is still pushing ads for their services and products to my notifications and lock screen.Got the maxed out model to hopefully ensure it lasts a few years longer than typical for this type of device. Time will tell.

Very functional – with workarounds
This tablet is pretty good for what it is. It works well, the Plus version with 3G Ram and new processor handles multitasking and app switching quite nicely, with no time wasting performance lags.My story is that I bought this to replace a three year old Kindle Fire 7 that was just slow. As Amazon updated the Fire OS over the last three years, this fire 7 just got slower and slower, so I wanted something that could keep up. This little Fire 7 worked perfectly, except that it was bogged down and slow whenever there were stuff updating in the background or if I wanted to briefly switch between apps. The Fire 8 Plus solved my issues with the old Fire 7. No lags, no delays! I’m sure that the 3G of RAM makes a difference here. The included apps on the Fire 8 such as mail, calendar, browser, are functional but limiting. Out of the box, it could install and run Netflix, Prime Video, Kindle reader and has a built in Amazon Shop app, so that’s a good start. Alexa is not required, and can be disabled/bypassed, but it cannot be uninstalled. Perfect for me because I don’t use Alexa, nor do I want it listening to me. All the other amazon apps I’m not interested in using, and there is also no way to uninstall them… so there’s a bunch of junk apps and shortcuts that I will ignore and will just take up space forever and never be used. So, moving on… I was able to install the Google Play store and got it to work. Now this opened up a large multitude of additional apps that can run on this device without any problems. GMail, Chrome, Contacts, Maps, Facebook, YoutubeTV, Youtube, Podcasts, Games, Calculator, Banking Apps, Gboard, OneDrive, OneNote, Outlook, ToDo, Word, Excel, AdobePdf, Roku, MyRadar, Pandora, Mlb. All working quite nicely, installed from the Play store and the Play store is keeping them updated. NICE! I was able to set Chrome as my default browser, and GBoard as my default keyboard. NICE! Google calendar would install, but I could not get it to work. I can live with that as I use outlook for my calendar. YoutubeTV works well, but I could not get the floating picture to work when switching apps. I’m not a big fan of this feature in YTV, so I can live without that. Now, there are a few apps that the Play store just will not install on this device. But that does not mean that those apps won’t work, just that the Play store can’t install and update them. So far, the two that I have run into are the Royal Caribbean app and the Giant food stores app. I could download the APKs from apkmirror and they worked perfectly. Good enough for me. I use these apps infrequently, so I created a chrome bookmark to the apkmirror links so that I can manually update them periodically. One downside is the physical size – I’m still getting used to it. I was used to the smaller size of the Fire 7 – it fit well in my hand and was compact enough to carry in a large pocket. Unfortunately, the current F7 does not have as much RAM, which is needed for multitasking and fast app switching. The Fire 8 Plus is about 3/4 inch wider and taller. Thickness is the same. The size is clunky and edges curved and smooth, so when using one-handed and I was afraid I would drop it while I waited for the case that I ordered. Once I got the case… ahhhh… I felt more comfortable holding it, and the size is less of an issue. Although the F8 is too big to fit easilly in a pocket.Another downside is the launcher. It is not possible to change the default app launcher, so you are stuck with the super simple one provided by Amazon. Every installed app appears on the home page, so it can get large and crowded. But it does allow me to arrange my apps in named groups, so it can be organized. It is basic and functional, so it will do.So far – so good. For an inexpensive tablet, the workarounds for the Google apps are good and worth it. Hope it stays this way.

Very useful tablet
I had been using an older Kindle Fire which kept telling me it was no longer supported. I really preferred reading books on it vs using my iPad. So I reluctantly bought a new this new Fire tablet. This is a much more powerful tablet than the Kindle Fire and is much more than something to read books. I was able to install apps to access smart home devices and my ring cameras as well as my original intent to read books. It has a place to install a microSD card for expanded storage. I bought a case for it and was surprised that it shuts down or goes to sleep when I close the cover and wakes up when I open it.

Amazon Fire HD 8, very good tablet for reading books.
This Tablet is a great device to read Kindle Books and browse the web. It performs well, and has a good battery life. The only thing missing is the Google Play Store that I need to download the apps that I use on other Android Devices.Perhaps I should have purchased an Android Tablet to make it more useful and compatible with my other Android Devices.

Ok tablet for the price but…. Terrible sound and lack of apps…
I got the original 7”32gb tablet in 2014 and only problem with it as constantly ran out of space. I decided to try the new 8” fire tablet and was quite disappointed. A lot of the apps I used 9yrs ago had disappeared from App Store and the apps they did have seemed 2nd rate compared to google play store and Apple Store. I had wished that I had spent my money on a Samsung galaxy tablet (which I have also had in the past which costs around $100). I do a lot of ancestry and it didn’t have an ancestry.com app….so I use the browser for that. I have a lot of movies & tv in Vudu app…again, Amazon Fire store doesn’t have Vudu app…so I use the browser. Fire store also doesn’t have a YouTube app. So again, I use the browser. The icing on the cake, which is why it’s a 2 star rating, is the sound is terrible, even all the way up! My original 2014 7” fire tablet sound was much better as was my old 2014 8” fire tablet sound….i would’ve thought in almost 10yrs that this tablet would’ve improved and not worsened. I would’ve also thought the App Store for Fire table would’ve improved with more apps also…sad to say, it lost popular apps I used in 2014 such as the ancestry.com app and CamScanner app which I used 10yrs ago on my Fire tablets. As for the space, this one I recently bought does have 64Gb and I got a SS card to put into it. I use it alot for reading. I noticed like my other 2 fire tablets, kindle app takes up slot of internal space and doesn’t transfer to sd card. I have a few streaming apps downloaded but there’s no setting to have movies downloaded to sd card. Some apps do download to sd card. But it seems that the ones I need to ad to sd card don’t for some reason. Fortunately I can’t do much on fire except use browser…so it doesn’t matter much…yet. I was really disappointed in this fire tablet. I wish I would’ve taken the money I spent on this and gotten a Samsung galaxy tablet which is about the same price as I paid for this tablet, but has good sound and a lot better App Store. When I watch movies or videos in browser on this fire tablet, due to the poor sound on speakers, I have to use my Bluetooth speaker to actually enjoy the shows. It is a nice and light tablet, especially compared to my 2014 7” fire tablet. For watching videos on fire tablet, the screen is good. You also can’t use other browsers on this fire tablet, just the Amazon browser. So that was also disappointing. Would I buy this fire tablet again or recommend it? Probably not. Even with headphones the sound isn’t good, though as I mentioned, does sound ok if you use a Bluetooth speaker. If I couldn’t use tablet with its browser to do my ancestry stuff or to read, it would be a one star rating. The battery life is good and pretty much lasts me hours without having to recharge. I also found that on occasion, I couldn’t access stuff using the browser on this tablet that I could with my phone. Which is also a problem if you need it to do for stuff for work. That’s happened on at least 3 different occasions in the few months I have had this tablet. That was another reason I had purchased it. If I had to do it over again, I wouldn’t choose this tablet, I would’ve gotten a Samsung galaxy tablet which is about same price as this tablet. If I had a few hundred dollars to spend, I would get an iPad, which I have had 2 in the past 10yrs and haven’t regretted those purchases.

This is my 4th Fire so far, and overall while they lack some bells and whistles they’ve gotten the job done. This one is so snappy and responsive it blew my mind right out of the gate. On top of that, the bright and realistic colors of the screen totally were unexpected. Best Fire ever.

10 Months later…
When I bought this in March 2023, I wanted a simple to use media/entertainment device that I could use offline or on; so I got the 32GB version & loaded my own media (music, videos, photos, pdfs) onto the recommended 128GB microSD card. I was happy, the tablet connected easily to my BT speaker & headphones. I was able to load “the other/G-playstore app” to get a better YouTube experience & also found a terrific, simple to use app for “drag & drop” file transfer from my Mac to my Fire tablet’s microSD card, with the card STILL in the tablet, using the USB-C cable that came with my Fire tablet.THEN IT HAPPENED!it seems that the most recent Fire OS update BROKE/KILLED the ability to use a USB connection!! Now, file transfer is ONLY available via Bluetooth?!! It took nearly 8 minutes to transfer a 41mb song from my Mac to the Fire tablet via Bluetooth… Now, I have to remove the card from the Fire tablet & plug it into my Mac, to add or remove files from it. This is Totally UNACCEPTABLE! So, why did Amazon make this move? WHY??!! Yeah, I’m very annoyed!!

Great!
My old old 7″ version started getting flakey so I upgraded to this. So refreshing to have it power up fast, charge fast and download fast. I use it for reading 90% and 10% Youtube’s and ordering Amazon items. Every time I use it (every day) I consider it a breath of fresh air compared to the old one.

It’s a solid, reliable tablet, with a few drawbacks
The latest version of the 8″ tablet is solid. It’s responsive, it looks nice, it’s a good size (not too large, not too small). There are some downsides. The biggest being Amazon’s refusal to play nice with Google. There’s an app store for the Fire, but it’s limited and a tad lackluster. The Amazon browser, Silk, feels a few years old compared to Firefox or Chrome (and you can’t load those browsers without jailbreaking your tablet.) That said, you CAN jailbreak this tablet fairly easily, if you desire. If you’re just looking for a reliable tablet to read or watch videos, this will work wonders. The fact that it does tie in to Amazon means you can purchase kindle books and movies directly, without having to go to your PC. The only comparable tablet I can think of at the moment (10/2023) is probably the Samsung A8.That’s all. Bye bye.

Time to upgrade
My 7 year old Kindle was getting tired and needed replacement. I didn’t realize how good a new one would perform. Faster performance and crisper image. Really enjoying it.

Nice size
The picture is very good, I like the size, but I wish there were more word and number games available. I use it most for the Kindle app.

Pretty screen!
The screen resolution is very nice. The battery life is fantastic. The back of the unit could be grippier. Recommended.

What a nice upgrade from 10th Generation
My Fire 8 HD 10th generation (2020) was getting sluggish and needed to be charged more frequently so I began looking at current models. This is my favorite device to read on. I also have an iPad, iPhone and Kindle paperwhite but I always go back to the Fire 8. I liked the 8 HD Plus model for the wireless charging stand and I think this is my favorite improvement over the 8 HD. Web browsing even with Silk is noticeably faster. I loaded the Google Play Store so there are more apps to choose from. I have a silicone case from the 10th Gen but the buttons on top are in a different location; for now I cut another hole for the charging cable for times when I don’t have the stand with me. I bought the 32gb model as I could easily transfer the sd card from my 10th gen device. A $25 trade-in and 20% off made this a pretty good deal. Very satisfied with this purchase.Pros:1) Speed upgrade from 10th generation; browsing much faster2) Able to use the charging stand (you must have the Plus model to do this)Cons:1) Can’t easily use 10th Generation case due to new button locations on the top

Exactly what I expect for a kindle or tablet
I mainly use mine for books. I was struggling for a while where it would glitch and get stuck in horizontal format, and then would boot me out of my book and I’d have to find the page I was on all over again. I tried restarting it but sometimes it still happens. Otherwise it’s perfect and does what I need it to

App Store is way too limited
My eyesight is failing. I needed a small tablet rather than my phone. Got Kindle as it was well rated and I buy my ebooks here. I wanted it for three apps. Kindle, Nook and NYT games. That’s it. Once I bought it, I found out it had its own App Store and I could only get the kindle app. I was going to send it back but my son googled a work around and now my kindle takes any android apps. Problem one solved. Next I paid for no ads but on the opening screen there are three gray bands. Two with amazon and one that says whisper sometging or other. They interrupt the beautiful picture the kindle has on there and bug me. I contacted customer service by email. They were so busy adding all those prewritten apologies and how valued a customer I am to the emails they never answered the question. Multiple back and forth with a new person each time and no help. They wore me down. I quit. Not impressed with it. Wish I had understood what I wasn’t getting when I bought it. I should have bought a tablet from just about any other company.

Does not work a USB C dongle
Good tablet for the money. Would be perfect if it could work with a USB C adapter but gives “wet USB C charger” warnings every time for some reason. Confirmed with a blow dryer that the cable its is not wet by any means.

I could set up my printer/copier with this kindle
My old kindle was not strong enough to hook up my new copier printer. This much newer model is great. I still use my old one every day! This is the best “toy” an old person can have.

My favorite e-Reader!
I’ve always been a reader. One of those kids that reads all four sides of the cereal box every morning, you know? At any rate, I had always really enjoyed the smell and feel of hardbound books, until I retired. I noticed my old eyes were having trouble in many kinds of light, glasses or not. I tried a Kindle Fire HD8 7th generation first, and fell in love with the adjustable legibility of the text on the screen. Eventually I was reading almost every single day. I added critical apps, like the trash cleaner and others and found that time spent in waiting rooms became much more tolerable with my Kindle in hand. When it finally failed, I realized there were new generations of Kindle Fire HD8s. This 12th generation Kindle Fire HD8 is everything I need in a reader but even more refined and with faster responses. I used the Kindle all day long and had only used up 10% of the charge, so I’m pretty sure the new battery system, too, is an improvement. The screen is higher def, the touch function and auto contrast are better than the old one, and while I still have to navigate and get to know everything offered in this new, slightly lighter weight version, I am very happy to have it. If you are considering an e-Reader, this Kindle Fire HD8+ will work for you, too.

It works perfectly for one flaw
Yea the flaw is that natively you can not install the google play store which is insane as there are many apps I need from there!! Like YNAB for my budget, Patreon because I read stuff there (I’m an artist). So Amazon add play store! We want to be able to install more apps

Love my new tablet!
I really wanted to get a tablet to read e-books on and play some games on it. I had an iPad mini I had and loved but they’re so expensive now. Got this good deal on cyber Monday for the fire tablets and opted for this one. It’s awesome; good display, easy to use and it’s the perfect size.

Next Generation improvements
I had the previous Amazon Fire HD 8 Plus tablet. It suited my needs quite well. I made an upgrade as my previous model was operating slowly. My fault for only having the 32GB. This newest model has a very clear and crisp screen. It offers great viewing for all the streaming services. Battery life seems to be better. I had no complaints about the previous model. You can easily get 9 to 10 hours of streaming both video and music and browse Amazon, X and watch an hour of You-Tube. The email set-up is very easy. I went with the newer model Amazon Fire HD 8 Plus tablet, because I love the charging stand that is designed for this model. You get a lot of great features at an affordable price.

Very pleased with my Kindle
After many years of faithful service my older Kindle quietly died. Well, not too quietly, I did drop it… LOL! Anyway, I like this new one better. Seems to be faster, and it’s slightly larger so my e-books are even easier to use. I also find it easy to surf the internet with also when I don’t want to fire up my computer. Battery life is very good on this device also. Overall I’m extremely pleased so far.

LOVE IT
32GB model. Really glad I got it. Very responsive, glad to read books, comics and mangas (the last 2 being why I didn’t opt for a Kindle instead). Can also watch streaming, so very content with this purchase.

Not for the elderly
Bought this for my 91 yr old mom. She was capable of using a mouse and computer (barely) for accessing Facebook to keep up on family and friends. But the computer got too slow and ancient so I got this for her to use. The developers of this tablet and of Facebook have no clue how to design an elderly-friendly device and OS. No clue! Maybe they should rethink their target audience for at least a model of their tablet that works for the elderly. I adjusted all that I could to make it readable… large fonts, large buttons hopefully to let her “hit” them with her trembling fingers. But it’s next to impossible for her to use this device. I regret getting it for her. It’s just too difficult for her to use. I won’t go into all the details of why it doesn’t work for her, but just take my word for it. Unless your elderly parent is savvy with smart phones, etc. don’t bother with this one. It just ends up being a waste of money for something they can’t won’t use due to difficulty. Device makers out there are totally missing a huge market for the elderly… there’s a lot of them and could benefit from an elderly-friendly device and operating system.

First Good Fire Tablet for Home Management
I’m retired and with old age my vision is getting worse. So a few years ago instead of using my smartphone to run all my utility apps I started to use my 10 inch Samsung tablet. The utility apps included sonos, blink, kasa, Google home and etc. However, over the years the Samsung tablet has gotten full and slow with all my other entertainment apps. This year I decided to buy one of these inexpensive Fire tablets to try and install all my utility apps. The install went fine without any major problems and I can read everything without glasses. The Fire tablet is small and light weight; I can easily take It with me anywhere in my home, even on the roof or outside. The price was perfect, if the tablet fails or gets damaged it can quickly be replaced.Note: You can install Google Apps without having to root the Fire tablet!

Not bad.
Bought the updated version and gave my older HD 8 plus to my granddaughter. This one is a little lighter. My only thing is, some of the things I had on my other one are not available again to download. But, I’ll live.

Limited Apps. Doesn’t Compare to Google
I wanted a tablet that I could read my e-books and access all my streaming apps on.I’m also Autistic, and I like when user interfaces are free of clutter and ads.I’m just not impressed with this Amazon Fire tablet. There’s very little ability to customize the interface, and the apps are very limited. Plus, you get a bunch of ads for random shows and games that I couldn’t find a way to hide.I have a Google Pixel phone and I was hoping it would be at least SOMEWHAT similar, so I wouldn’t have to learn a whole new interface, but it’s not.I ended up returning this tablet, and splurging on a Google Pixel Tablet, and there’s just no comparison! If you already have a bunch of Amazon media/Alexa products, this might be a good choice for you, but otherwise, I’d save up and get a Google Pixel Tablet, instead.

It’s okay (and getting better it seems)..
Okay, I’ve owned a lot of fire tablets over the years, so I shouldn’t have been expecting anything too great, but the way they advertise this one makes it sound like it’s a cut above the rest… frankly, its performance is lackluster… I also feel like one of my oldest 7″ tablets had better response, which is just sad. Otherwise, though, it does what it should. I was just expecting more in the way of overall performance and feedback. I did get the 64 GB version, which is great for space right now, but just in case, I’ve also installed a 256 GB micro SD card, which the tablet took with no issues at all. I dunno, maybe I should give it 4 stars, I just don’t feel like it really deserves it… c’mon Amazon, get on the ball already and give us good hardware in these tablets.edit: Okay, so a little while after I left my original review I had a conversation with an Amazon rep and did some updates, now it seems better… it’s still not what I’d call world-class hardware, but it’s a little bit snappier, the apps load a little faster, and it seems just a little bit better overall… I haven’t had a chance to test my Luna controller with it since the updates to see how that performs, but I’m feeling hopeful at least. Also, one positive that I totally forgot to mention previously is that these new Fire 8 HD+ tablets have Qi charging… or whatever type you wanna call it. Yeah, I can drop it on the same charger as what my phone uses and it will also charge, which means I can use my upright charger to recharge my tablet while watching a show on Amazon Prime, Netflix, or Funimation/Crunchyroll… that’s a very nice positive that I really appreciate! On top of that, it seems to have a rather large charging space on the back, so I had position it horizontally or vertically with no issues to it charging.

Yes, You Can Stream To Your TV
I love this little tablet. It’s fast, easy to use and so convenient. I originally bought it for my elderly mom. She couldn’t figure it out, but she has dementia, so it’s not the tablet’s fault. I thought I was going to have a tablet I would never use. Well, I was wrong. First thing I decided to do was mirror the screen so it plays on TV. It worked great. Now I carry the tablet around the house since it’s so much easier to carry than my laptop. Completely pleased with this!

Great value for younger kids
Bought this to replace an 8 which took a severe licking and still functions w massive cracks; so why get a new version when this one has been great. This one is an improved speed as a plus model and it delivers. It allow very intense parental guidance or non at all. You don’t have to register with your account which the last one was mine but dil register on hers. Thinking of getting myself one simple Amazon has a good product. No other tablet I owned stood minor hits to the screen, in fact they broke into pieces way too easy. This screen really delivers. Its been used for games like roblox and has done well. Really impressive for a very low price but good quality.
