Nice gadget (will need memory card!!)
Comes with a few different gadgets to strap to your bike handles or helmets. Will need to buy the wrist strap separately if you want to use in the ocean. You will also need the memory card too. I didn’t realize it didn’t come with it.

Great small Go pro
This camera is great once I got all the parts. Fix box was missing all items but they sent a new on quickly and it’s great. Just wish the instructions were better for all the mounts

Great little camera for on the go.
I bought this to take on hikes with me. It arrived quickly and packaged great. So many accessories come with this little guy, it’s amazing. Watch the youtube video if you need help figuring out what goes to what. I’m super excited to try it out.

Helmet mount is for bicycle helmets won’t attach to nvd mounts
Easy to understand directions, wrist remote is a nice addition so I don’t need to take off my gear to turn it on and off for recording.

Nice and cost effective action camera
I ordered 3 cameras. They were delivered promptly. I haven’t used them yet but they appear to be a very low cost version of a GoPro.

Worked well for snorkeling
I only bought this camera to use for occasional snorkeling trips, or for kids to have fun taking underwater pics in the pool. It in no way compares to a pricey GoPro (and I didn’t expect it to), but we got some great snorkeling shots on our recent trip. Lighting in the water makes a huge difference. The closer you get, the better the pics. Totally worth the price for us. And if it breaks or gets damaged, won’t be a huge loss. Transferring pics to my phone was super easy with the app. Caution – the battery compartment door breaks easily. Watch YouTube to see how to open it. AKASO did replace that part for free. Very pleased with customer service.

Knocked down a peg after use.
So, I am going to say right off the bat, I paid $83 for an action camera, I was expecting an $83 action camera. Short handed, that’s not what I got.Shortly after getting this camera I immediately set to taking it through its paces. Between dash mounted footage, motorcycle helmet footage, and eventual PodCams (podcast video accompaniment), I needed to get a strong feel for how well this camera handled it. I took it around my yard on the two modes I will record video (1080p60 and 4K24). Then I strapped it to my motorcycle helmet and went for a ride. I picked up a decent amount of footage. Now, I am going to briefly cover the reason I took half a star from my actual rating. I used the iSmart DV app (as the product description says to use, since the original one has been depreciated) to activate the recording for the ride, because it’s mounted to my helmet, that was being worn. I expected that it would record until I brought my phone back out and stopped it from the app as well. Turns out, after my half an hour ride, it only recorded about 3 minutes of it, because at some point it decided to stop recording. This was annoying, but I can live with that, I don’t really have faith in App controls, so I will just use the included remote control to do it from now on.Moving on! Once I took the footage from the various modes off the camera and transferred them to my PC, I previewed it all. Mind you my expectations were pretty low, since it’s an $83 action camera, but what I watched was astonishing. The 1080p60 was the best of the two modes I used, because the framerate made it seem much more lifelike than the 24fps 4K. Either way, I definitely did not expect such video quality with this. Now that we know I like the video quality, I am going to break down the keypoints I look for in cameras, and various devices as a whole.Build Quality: Now, it’s not a solid block of metal that you are confident would sustain being pitched against a concrete wall, but it’s not a flimsy piece of hollow plastic either. It’s lightweight without feeling super cheap. I’d say the one thing that will most certainly become an issue later in it’s life is the battery door. It’s just difficult to get off that you lose finesse, and must utilize focused brute force. One day that motion will break the tabs. Hopefully Akaso has some sort of minor parts store one can purchase a new battery door from, for when that time does come. Quick note, the mounts, remote, and various accessories this comes with are all well built as well.Video Quality: Crisp, clean, and pleasurable, as long as you have sufficient light. There aren’t many cameras like this that do all that well in super low light, but this wasn’t awful. However, note that your frame rate will drop a bit if you are in a noticeably darker room.Audio Quality: Junk. As expected. They all are. Mind you, it is there, but like every action camera I’ve ever used, the audio is not clear and far reaching, but muffled, because I am fairly certain they all drop them under the solid plastic casing, not exposed to the air. So the sound is muffled. That’s true of all action cameras of this size, if you are looking for audio quality over video, you want the Zoom Q8, it has nowhere near the video quality of this camera, but it records studio grade audio with many interchangeable mic modules you can buy.Battery Life: Lacking. You can get a little over an hour recording 1080p60 on one charge. There are two redeeming factors here that saved it from losing more of a star. 1) The camera comes with two batteries, doubling the life. 2) The camera still records when you have the camera plugged into a charger or external battery, so if long life matters, you have options. Plus getting more batteries isn’t crazy expensive anyway.User Interface and Controls: Simple, easy to understand, and feature rich. The included remote is pretty killer too. It does have the “wifi” option, and for basic operation that is cool, but my experience with it, as stated above, was not great. 5 different video modes (720p120, 1080p30, 1080p60, 2.7k30, 4K24), and 2 still image modes (single and burst), as well as a time lapse option, it’s hard to ask for more really.Additional features: MicroSD card slot, up to 64GB, use class 10 or higher. A 64gb calss 10 card gets you over 6 hours of 1080p60 footage without switching cards.Included accessories: Well, the fact that it comes with ANY gives it an edge, but it comes with a solid starting base of accessories for mounting, charging and controlling. Way more than the big brand GoPro.Now that I’ve said that magic word (GoPro) let me end on this:I’ve rented a GoPro Hero5 to use on a road trip. I pulled that footage up today and compared it to the footage taken with this Akaso, two clips nearly identical light, identical settings, and this Akaso kicks it’s butt with video quality. Hands down. So, for less than a quarter of the price, you get this camera that out classes the Hero5 and comes with well, a lot, whereas that Hero5 $400 pricetag just gets you the camera. No deal GoPro, Akaso, you’re winning. I look forward to getting the three more I need, and pumping out great video content, care of Akaso’s great camera.EDIT:The biggest plan behind this camera was to get one per microphone for my podcasts. That’s when I quickly learned something irreversibly bad about the cameras as a series. I’ll start off with a note that everything else I said is true, of the first camera I received. However, upon receipt of two more to round off my mic came, I realized that one of the two I received was different. Sure, the model number was the same, but there’s a laundry list of things different. The “features” remain the same, but one sensor needs to be back about 6″ from the other to capture the same image. It’s as if one is zoomed in a bit further than the other. The software itself reacts just slightly different as well. For example, when it’s plugged into power the cameras all turn on automatically, however when you long press the power, the different one doesn’t shut back off, but instead goes into something of a sleep mode. But in the end, I returned all of these cameras today because of the primary flaws:They record at a mere fraction of a fraction variance of speed, add in that occasionally when the file switches to a new, it loses a frame or more. This leads right up to the complete inability to sync recordings together into one cohesive project. I can’t record the same event, in 3 different angles, and make a single video out of it without losing sync with all of them by the end.So, if you are planning to use more than one of these, prepare to run into a lot of issues. Consistency in equipment is a must for production equipment. Unfortunately these just don’t have it. So, if app you need is one single high quality action camera, go ahead and grab this. Me? I’ll be getting a round of Zoom Q2Ns, because they make consistent equipment for professionals.

Great affordable action cam
As someone who always wanted an action cam but couldn’t justify spending $200+ on a go pro this was a great option. I do wish it was waterproof without the case, but considering I only spent $50 I really can’t complain. The quality is good for the price, it comes with more accessories than you could realistically ever use, but it’s great because if you had a specific use you had for it there is probably an attachment it comes with. I has a fish eye type of effect on all its videos, but overall is still a great purchase. If you are looking for an affordable action cam that gets the job done, this is a great alternative.

So many accessories!
AKASO includes so many accessories that it almost won’t fit back in the box. I’ve bought another brand in the past for a lot more money and had to purchase almost every accessory I wanted to use. The view screen has nice resolution. The controls are simple to operate, which is important when trying to get your camera working without running into a tree or loosing your focus on what you want to video or take a picture of. Just love it. Difficult to wait for warm weather to see it in action. Looking forward to see if the performance is as great as their generosity. Almost 10 times as many accessories as was with the one I got for so much more money.

Battery life is poor.
I use the camera with a 12′ pole to take roof inspection photos. I use the wifi connection to my phone to view, frame and take the photos. I travel from site to site and take 8 to 10 photos at each site, only powering on the camera while taking the photos. I can only do 5 jobs before the battery is dead with 25 to 30 minutes of ON time with the camera. Good thing it comes with 2 batteries.

Fair Deal, great for starting off
Great price for what you get. I haven’t had any issue so far. Battery life sucks but everything else works. Not the best quality image but you can see what is going on in the video. Sound quality is better with case off. Buy some kind of small duffle bag to store all the extra parts.

I’m excited to try this!!
This cam comes with two batteries, a battery charger, different mounts, clips, a waterproof case and so forth! It’s way more affordable than buying a GoPro cam by itself. There’s a user manual QR code and a quick start guide inside the box. It doesn’t come with a SIM card so make sure to get that! Can’t wait to try this out!!

Works very well, especially for the price!
Compared to the price of Go-Pro cameras, this is a great deal. The color is a little off but I don’t plan to put it on You-Tube. Can’t beat it. Have tried it out a few times, inside and outside. Good to go.

Did a pretty good job!
**Please know pictures attached are screen shots from video uploading on their app and color edited**I can’t give any comparison reviews like I read with those who compared it to a GoPro.The quality I have to remember not to be picky and understand it’s not the same as photography so although it isn’t as focused as I like to see a sharp image it’s pretty good for a under water quality.I used this device three separate times on vacation. Once under water, UNFORTUNATELY when I attached to my snorkeling mask with hardware it would only record the top of the water from where it was placed. That’s not a manufacturing fault for this camera but something I need to figure out because I’m sure that’s not correct and was maybe installed wrong. Although, the video above the water and audio were pretty good. I also used it on a stick and did a Banana Boat Ride and parasailing, both videos and audio came out great! I forgot to bring my wristlet to take pictures but in the moments I know I wouldn’t have used it. Now to think about it, I did snorkel once more and put the camera on my joystick this time and video was pretty decent in and out of the water with audio. Again, not the bestest quality but I expected that and price is fair.I also downloaded the app and connected my camera to it to view the photos. Although I like this feature, I thought it was very glitchy throughout as I watched all videos. And, I also wanted to screenshot from the video so I could have still photos but it was more work than Id like to admit, a simple process but if a glitch or moment passed and I would rewind it was hard to not rewind to far back or to far forward, it would be nice to see a 10 second feature rewinding or forwarding. Or it would be nice to see a feature added to select a still crane while watching the video.Besides that, no major complaints and I will definitely use it moving forward for other activities with my family.

Excellent value for the price, and competitive with other sports cameras
I bought this to film travel videos and reviews. So, many of the included attachments and accessories didn’t interest me… I chose this camera because the reviews led me to believe it’s competitive with GoPro cameras, but far less expensive. The reviews were right. The video quality is excellent. The lens captures a very wide area, horizontally, which is a plus if you want viewers to see absolutely everything. And, if you’re using video editing software, you can always crop out what you don’t want viewers to see.The camera has a high color sensitivity and it’s well-balanced, so nothing looks washed-out. My video editing software automatically stabilizes what I film, so I don’t know about this camera’s stabilization features, and – if that were important to me – I might buy an Akaso that mentions that as a feature. The manuals that come with this camera are best for people accustomed to using sports/action video cameras. I just looked at it and blinked. It wasn’t even close to what I needed to understand how this camera works. A PDF manual can be downloaded, online, and it’s available in many languages. But frankly, I went to YouTube for far clearer instruction. In fact, that’s the best way to figure out what all the bonus attachments are, which come with the camera. You’ll also pick up useful tips from some videos… things that I never expected from such an inexpensive camera. My only disappointment is the tripod attachment, if I don’t want to use the waterproof case that comes with the camera. The basic tripod attachment covers the viewing screen when the camera is mounted on a tripod. So, after mis-estimating the vertical coverage I was getting, I put the camera into the waterproof case and then attached it to my tripod. That worked fine, and I saw no distortion – or difference at all, really – between what I filmed without the waterproof case, and the footage with the case. (Well, except that the waterproof case made it possible to see exactly what I was filming. For me, that’s kind of important.)Also, don’t expect the clip-on attachment to hold the camera securely to a pocket or shirt collar. The camera is heavy enough to tilt forward, so – even with a fairly stiff pocket or collar – you’ll be filming what’s on the ground, not straight ahead. It will probably work fine with a strap (or other gear) designed to work with that kind of clip and this kind of camera. But, those issues are related to the myriad attachments included with this camera. Most competing cameras expect you to pay more for those, and don’t include them as Akaso does.In other words, the free/included attachments are great for people who will mount the camera to a helmet, etc. They don’t work as well for me, so the attachments get a three-star review from me, at best. However, the camera itself is a solid four-star product, at least, and I’m tempted to give it five stars. It’s an excellent choice, regardless of price.I particularly like how small the camera is. It fits comfortably in a large pocket or small purse, and the waterproof case is easy to use, while protecting the camera lens from scratches when you’re not using it.After seeing the quality of this camera and the videos it produces, I wouldn’t even think about paying more for a competing brand. Some online videos – comparing this camera with another brand that costs about twice as much – show a slightly better image quality in the higher-priced camera. Also, the sound quality seems much better in the higher-priced camera. But, for my use, neither of those things would convince me to spend the extra money. The Akaso EK 7000 4K does everything I’d expected it to, and the quality is far better than I’d hoped, as well.If you’re not sure whether you’ll use a video camera like this, I think this is an ideal starter model at an affordable price. For most people – including travelers and sports enthusiasts – this may be the only video camera you’ll need.High quality, low price, lots of extras… that’s a winning combination for me. I’m very pleased.

The waterproof case worked like a charm and was totally waterproof
I was skeptical about this camera based on some of the reviews and it’s heavily discounted price when compared to the GoPro. I bought it to take on a tropical vacation and needed it for scuba and snorkelling and other water activites as well as vacation photos. Overall, I was very impressed with everything associated with the product. There were a few minor issues and limitations that I will mention.1. The waterproof case worked like a charm and was totally waterproof. I had no issues with leaks as some of the 1 star reviews had stated. There is a rubber ring that seals the case to the case door which makes the unit waterproof. I was always mindful when closing it to make sure I didn’t pinch it. I could see how the rubber could be damaged or kinked which could lead to loss of the seal. However, one of the two bracket mounts on the bottom that you use to mount the case to everything with was broken in shipping. I tried to fix with JB Weld because I didn’t have time to buy a replacement before the trip. The JB Weld didn’t hold though. What did hold? The one mount. It lasted all week being used multiple hours per day. I will buy a replacement though.2. This is a GoPro style action camera so you don’t have the ability to zoom or adjust picture settings. I knew this coming in so not really a complaint, just throwing it out there. With it’s wide angle lens, taking pictures of a person from over 20 ft away or so is mostly a picture of that persons surroundings. But with 12 MP, you can crop them later anyways.3. As one of the reviews stated regarding underwater photography, I purchased the SandMarc underwater filters to go on this case knowing that some modifications needed to be made. I really wish this product had a filter kit that was made for it but as that other review stated, 30 mins with a dremel and I had a perfect fit. If I had messed up though, I would have been out a $25 filter kit.4. The iSmart DV app works really well. You sync with the cameras internal wifi and can remotely control the camera or transfer images/videos. One complaint though is that you can’t change where on your phone the files are transferred to. It creates a iSmart folder in your DCIM folder. It would have been really nice to save to my phones SD Card. This might not seem like a big deal but…5. Also not an actual gripe but this camera shoots very uncompressed files. 12MP images are around 2 MB per image and in 1080p 60fps, the video (mov) files come in at around 200 MB per minute. All of this is good as you are left with a better product for post production if you are in to that but transferring files via Wifi takes about as long to transfer as they take to record. And since my phone memory is always low, I have to transfer all my transfers to my SD Card. So If I shoot an hour of video, I have quite a bit of time ahead of me to transfer all the files. I didn’t try any other method of transfer though because I didn’t bring a laptop. In the end, the Wifi is very useful, just have to be patient.6. Batteries last less than an hour if on and being used in almost any mode. I took a bunch of timelapse pictures to make little videos out of on my vacation. If you wanted to do a sunset timelapse, you have to wait til the sun’s pretty low or change batteries really fast when the first one dies, lol. I was unable to get any good sunrise or sunset timelapses. I did get some sweet kayaking time lapses though. As for the batteries, consider this to set your expectations. If you do a 30 minute kayak trip taking 5s timelapse pics, then transfer them all to your phone via wifi, that’s pretty much it. Time to change the battery.Other than that, not only was I pleased with the camera in all of it’s functionalities and found it easy to understand how to use, I was extremely impressed when considering the price. I imagine GoPro hero 5’s are awesome, but I can’t imagine they are over 5 times as awesome as this product. Also noteworthy, I never used the 4K video option. When I saw how big the 1080p files were, I just left it at that. Very good quality videos though.

AKASO EK7000 a Life Saver
We booked a last minute trip to the Galápagos Islands and I wanted/needed to take underwater photos and videos of the sea life. The reviews and especially the price was right so I made the purchase. It came with a ton of accessories and operating instructions were pretty simple. It did not disappoint!! I’m now sharing my amazing photos and videos with everyone I know. Thank you AKASO!

See it, you’ll be a believer
I’m not impressed with this camera; “astonished” would be closer to the mark. Purchased this Akaso EK 7000 based on a recommendation from a friend of my wife’s, and I just can’t believe what this little camera can do for the money we put into it. As a caveat, we’re not pushing the camera to the limits of human endurance by skydiving, mountain biking, scuba diving or the like. But it works extremely well for our needs. My wife competes in dog obedience training, and likes to review videos of her dog’s performance after trials and matches. Finding someone willing and capable to record her session in the ring on a cellphone is always difficult. Most of the other dog handlers are preoccupied with their dogs, and it’s not good ring etiquette to approach too close to the show ring to shoot video, since that will be a distraction. She noticed another handler retrieving a tiny camera from just outside the corner of the ring after her session and asked about it. Turned out to be this little EK 7000, and that handler was very enthusiastic about what it could do. When my wife asked for it for Christmas I was skeptical, so I spent a lot of time researching this and several other cameras. While there were other cameras that were able to do what the Akaso could do, and possibly even more, they were all at least two to three times as expensive. So I went ahead and gave this to my wife for Christmas. We gave it a full practice run-through yesterday, mounting it on a short tripod at the corner of the ring. I used the 1080p 30fps setting instead of the 4K mode to get more storage space and lengthen battery life. Had the camera on for about an hour, shooting about a dozen videos of one to three minutes, plus a number of photos, and with wi-fi on for a while, and off for a while. I tried starting and stopping the camera manually, then used the phone app, and lastly used the remote for a while. All worked well, even from about 20 yards away. Back home I hooked up the camera to our 55-inch TV (via a micro-HDMI cable, not included), and we were both very pleased with the video quality. Since it’s a wide-angle lens, people (and dogs) are naturally pretty small at about 15 yards, but the high video quality means that when you put the video on a large screen you can still see all the details. The sound was a little muddy, but a huge overhead furnace was running right over the camera which made audio pickup difficult. The battery lasted for at least two hours with the camera on, and was recording or playing back videos later for most of that time. The little charger will charge two batteries at a time, and seemed to need only an hour to take the battery from fully discharged to fully charged. (Lights on the charger progress from magenta to red to blue while charging.) You can also charge the battery just by connecting a USB cable to the camera, which we did while transferring files to the computer. I used four different video viewers on the our computer to watch the videos, and all showed the clips with no problem. Settled on VLC Media Player to access slow motion and other features. There are so many attachment options included in the box that I can’t imagine you won’t be able to mount it any where you wanted. I used the frame with bottom and top threaded sockets to mount it to a regular camera tripod, and it worked great. The camera is so tiny that I’ve taken to putting it back into its waterproof case for additional protection before stowing it in the camera bag. A couple notes: We installed the Akaso DV app on a Samsung Galaxy S5 cellphone. It worked almost perfectly, although at one point I changed modes at the same time I rotated the phone, and that, or some gremlin, locked up the app tight with a black screen. Force-stopped the app and restarted it, and had no further problems. The app itself is great, giving you the ability to start and stop the camera from a distance via a wi-fi connection, (be sure to disconnect the phone from any other wi-fi networks first), and actually see what the camera is recording live. While recording, the camera flashes a little red light on the top of the camera, but it’s not visible from anywhere but right above the camera. This means that when using the remote, if you don’t keep careful track of your button pushes, you may stop a recording already in progress when you meant to start one. The phone app shows you what the camera is doing, but running the wi-fi on the camera shortens the battery life somewhat, according to the manual. In the mode we were using, 1080p @ 30fps, the video was using about 106mb/minute. Unless my math is off, that means a 64gb card will store close to ten hours of high-quality video. One gotcha is that if you do change out the batteries, the camera forgets the date and time and you have to re-enter that if you want to tag your files accordingly, which is a bit of a hassle. Would I recommend this camera to a friend? Absolutely. Would I buy it again? Only if we lose the little guy, a definite possibility with something so small. I’d better go write our name and phone number on it with a Sharpie right now!

Pretty sweet!
I bought this camera along with the kit that has a bunch of pieces(which is crazy how much it comes with for the price) to make it waterproof, selfie stick, etc, to take on my recent visit to Jamaica. At first I really didn’t have high hopes for it cause of the price. But after using it for the whole week there, going on a sailboat ride and literally putting it to the test by running it under the water as we sailed away, to snorkeling, to just taking random pictures and videos. I must say, this camera exceeded my expectations by 1000%! The camera and picture quality are absolutely great! We uploaded them to my son’s computer to check out the quality and they look awesome on there. Now he wants to start using it to make YouTube videos. The only thing I would say is not the best is the battery life. When the one got to half way, it died almost immediately. Luckily it came with 2 and they charge fairly fast! Other than that, this camera is awesome for the price. So if you’re looking for something cheap and has great quality, I recommend this camera! I usually don’t do reviews but this definitely deserves it!

Good camera but does succumb to water pressure
The media could not be loaded.
Bought this for our trip to Cozumel. Good price, easy set-up, comes with a ton of parts. Does not include SIM card or handle, just handle/helmet mounts. The video/image quality is great! All our videos from diving look great. Only thing is the camera kept turning off intermittently and would need a few minutes before it was able to turn back on, leaving me to believe it succumbs to the changes in pressure the deeper you dive. Still, it would turn on again. Just don’t expect to get one long continuous video if that’s what you’re buying this camera for. The battery also drained relatively quick. All in all for what I paid I’m very satisfied and happy I have a lot of videos to show our families when we get back home.

Akaso is a great deal for underwater action cams!
I’m a casual diver and snorkeler, and I live in the tropics in winter so I have a LOT of opportunities to be in the same reef areas repeatedly. I went with an Akaso after reading up on folks’ experiences and it was well worth it, and so much more affordable. This camera comes with everything I need to have the ability to capture the fish and coral that I see when I’m in the water (I’ve taken Akaso cameras down to 90+ feet and it’s been just fine.) I did decide to get a red lens that fits over the Akaso case for deeper dives, which is helpful, and have a spare housing, but so far no need for the spare. Also got a decent selfie stick and made sure to put on a retaining cord so I don’t lose it.I don’t need anything fancy (yet) but it works well and the battery life is fine. I don’t need to worry about sound, although I’m hoping the camera would catch the whale calls we sometimes hear (will post if I have the chance to test that!) But I’ve been able to get some excellent colors and sweet shots of various fish, which is just what I need. For less than 1/2 of a gopro, it’s totally worth it.The transfer between laptop or iPad and the camera works fine with the Akaso apps, although I prefer to use a SIM card reader (faster). I do all editing and such off the camera, but the image stabilization feature is really helpful while filming. Also would like to say I’ve had a VERY positive interaction with Akaso after losing a camera on a dive an appreciate their support and excellent communication very much. All in all, even if I decide to upgrade to more specialized equipment for photos/video in the future, one of these will aways be in my BCD pocket as a backup at the very least!

Very Nice Camera For Much Less Than The Competition
This is the second action camera I purchased. The first was a slightly cheaper (~$50), different brand, and it was awful. When I received the Akaso (~$70) I was very surprised at how much better it was than the cheaper alternative.——PROS——- The build quality is pretty great for its cost. It’s not perfect, but it’s very good for what you’re paying. The top-side button is a little sticky on mine, but otherwise the buttons are all tactile and responsive.- Aesthetically (this won’t apply to everyone) I think this cam looks great. Matte black finish and some white text. Nothing too over the top and it just works for me. The finish isn’t perfect, and I’ve already had a bit of wear on the matte black paint and I’ve only used it for less than a week! This doesn’t concern my too much, though.- Size and weight, this action cam is almost identical to a GoPro, other than a little thicker. Length and width is the same, with maybe a larger lens. Weight is very similar.- The interface is pretty nice. The LCD screen isn’t the highest of quality, and does actually make the footage looks sub-par (more on quality of footage below), but it does the job fine. The start up splash screen looks nice and boots up pretty quickly. The GUI is very un-apologetically GoPro styled. Not much innovation in terms of changing the interface, but the GoPro interface is very nice, so why bother putting a lot of effort into changing it? Nice array of settings to change footage quality, set the date, turn on WiFi, etc.- The footage quality (in my opinion) is very good. I compared the footage (and everything else) against a GoPro Hero4 and the cheaper action cam I mentioned above, and honestly the Akaso had the best quality of them all. Now, this is just my opinion and yours may differ, but I found the Akaso colours to be much richer. Sharpness of the video was on par with the GoPro. As mentioned above, the footage looks much worse on the LCD while recording, so don’t focus on that too much. Once you get it onto your computer it’s much better!- The accessories this cam comes with are excellent. High quality plastic and don’t feel cheap. Crazy that the camera comes with all these accessories as well as a second battery and a dual battery charger. The remote control it comes with (although I’m not sure whenever I’d use it) is also very good.——CONS——- Battery life is a bit less than a GoPro. In my very limited testing I found a GoPro Hero4 at 1080p60 lasted around 1h40-1h50 minutes, whereas the Akaso lasted around 1h30. Considering that you get two batteries in this package and the GoPro only comes with one this isn’t much of a complaint.- The Android application they suggest to use with the WiFi functionality of this camera is not very good. I don’t think the makers of this camera are affiliated with the application, so this isn’t a complaint to them, but something potential buyers should be aware of if that’s a big requirement to them (the WiFi feature, nor the application, were a necessity to me).- The battery tray detaches from the camera, which is a petty thing to complain about, but can probably get lost easily. I understand why they did it though (cost).- Once recording, there is no indication on the front of the camera, but there is a flashing red LED on the top, next to the start/stop button. This is convenient in that it exists, but may have been more beneficial being on the front.- Stopping the footage once the screen has gone to sleep is a little temperamental, in that if you press the stop button it will wake the screen, and then I believe you have to press it again to actually stop the footage. The interface isn’t super snappy, so I’ve had a few situations where I’ve accidentally started a new clip while trying to stop the previous one. Also, you cannot seem to stop a new clip until a couple of seconds have passed. I’m sure I’ll get use to this though.- You can set the date and time in the interface, which takes a bit of time, and that information is applied to the naming of the files on the SD card. However, that date/time is reset once you remove the battery, which you’ll probably be doing considering you have a spare available. This obviously makes sense, but a little annoying all the same. The date/time is automatically applied once you connect to the Android app, however, which is a nice touch, but I doubt I’ll be using the WiFi much.- When you record for a long time it will split the video file into multiple files. This is the same as on a GoPro. However, on a GoPro it will create a matching naming structure to indicate they belong to the same recording clip (i.e. gopro01.mp4, gopro02.mp4). This isn’t the case with the Akaso, it will just create a new file with the date/time naming structure, same as any other clip (i.e. 20180204-100001.mov, 20180204-101203). This may be an issue if you have lots of clips on your card, as you’ll have to manually open every file and determine yourself which of the files are combined into the same recording.I’ve listed a fair few cons here, but honestly, none of them are a big deal. They’re all perfectly understandable when you consider you’ve spent a quarter what you’d spend on a GoPro, and when ultimately it’s the footage which is (probably) the most important, this thing really takes a great video. Not really played with photos, but that’s not what I bought it for. Likewise, I don’t own anything 4K, so I’ve stuck with just 1080 content for the time being.——Conclusion——Great build quality. Great footage. Cheap price. Lots of accompanying accessories and batteries. Can’t complain at all.

Picky, Decent, and Card Error
Function and quality of this camera is pretty good. I bought this as a back up replacement for my GoPro as it was on it’s last leg. The camera is a decent replacement when it works, but it does have issues and problems.Pros:-Comes with 2 batteries and charger, while also having pretty decent battery life on 1080p at 30fps-Comes with everything you need-It is pretty straight forward on what is what, and can record for quite some time.-Has a screen for previewing recent footage-The back screen will turn off but will keep recording, so if you are recording for a while it will turn off the preview screen after a certain amount of time.Cons:Personally I have ran into more cons than anything with this, which is quite disappointing. It became more of annoyance to me.-It seems to be picky with how you input the SD card somehow. Sometimes the card works fine and other times a Card Error will pop up. Not sure what is the problem here as it is random on when it happens. Most times it is a constant Card Error, but every once in a blue moon the SD card will work randomly. I’ve tested it with multiple SD cards, new and old, and will still get the Card Error. I notice that if the card is put in correctly, then the start up will be a bit longer, but most times it is short and notifies about the Card Error.-While being able to preview what you just recorded on the camera itself, if the camera is turned off, you won’t be able to preview it afterwards and will have to transfer it to your computer to see it again. It will not show it again afterwards, which is weird and some what not well thought of design in which it seems that it removed the file.-Recording while charging is odd, as I attempted it a couple of times, but due to the card error it will not record anything. On times when I did not get the card error and to test the charging while recording, the camera seems to restart itself upon being connected to a power bank, in which the Card error prompt will show up and basically be unusable. In all it is decent, but I am completely unsure why the Card Error prompt will pop up when the SD cards I used were mainly brand new. Having this error made it unusable and I would end up inserting and reinserting the card hoping for it to work SOMETIMES. Wanting to preview the footage after turning it off and on, is an odd choice to “remove” what was recorded. If you end up wanting to charge the battery and preview the footage while it is charging, the footage would be “removed” due to the restart upon plugging it in to charge. I am a fan of it when it works, but that is only about 10% of the time. The fact I have to constantly insert and remove the SD card in hopes for it to work is the killer for me. If you’re desperate for an action camera and have a bunch of micro SD cards, then this may be for you. Otherwise, buy at your own risk.

The App Is Terrible; The Equipment Seems To Be Fine
The app can pound sand. It’s awful. One thing the pictures showed me was it being used with a chest harness; that was not included. I think this package should include the chest harness and a head harness. The manufacturer seems to imply this is only used by divers and bicycle riders, but that’s too narrow. I rescue birds of prey and people have been asking me to take videos, so they may pick up some pointers on how to rescue raptors.I happened to have a chest and head harness from another purchase, and with the adaptors from that package and this one, I was able to cobble together a rig for both head and chest operation. I did rescue an eagle and hawk yesterday using this, but I had the wrong angles, which is on me.I like the video and picture quality. I’m not a videographer or photographer, so I can’t tell you technically how well this is, but I like the look of it. The manual that you can download online is sort of useful. The packaging implies that you already know how to use a camera mounted to your head or body, so if you don’t, the learning curve will be a little steep.Overall, pretty decent value for what you pay.

Simple and compact
This little camera comes with a whole bag full of accessories to mount it in just about any way you might want. Two batteries and a charger, waterproof case and so on.But – no image stabilization. For $50 I suppose they had to cut costs somewhere. But it also does time lapse which is something I’m interested in, and that’s all done on a tripod so stabilization within the camera isn’t a big deal.I bought this to fill in a gap in my camera arsenal. I don’t have a GoPro because they cost about eight times as much, but if this one turns out to be as useful as I think it might, then I may go for the better camera in the GP family. Meanwhile, this takes good quality videos. A bit of fish-eye but it’s not too bad. If you have image stabilization software on your computer it may take some of that away.Overall for the price it has simple controls and is easy to use. Don’t forget it doesn’t come with an SD card.

Just received – so far, so good
Just purchased. Item appears of good quality. Uses a micro SD card (sold separately) up to 32mb. I used the main competitor’s camera in Hawaii last year (maybe not the top of the line version, but I digress) and this seems to have as good or better image and video quality, though I’ve only taken a few photos and videos so far and have not viewed them on a larger device yet. I’ll be putting it through it’s paces next month – international travel, underwater in the ocean, sand, probably drop it once or twice – and I’ll update accordingly. Also came with the waterproof case and a bunch of mounting accessories.

4K and 2.7K videos use bad MJPG compression, and are blurry
The media could not be loaded.
1080p@60fps, 1080p@30fps, 720p@120fps, 720p@60fps video resolutions all use good H264 (AVC) compression. But the highest 4K@30fps and 2.7K@30fps (2704×1524) resolutions write files with much weaker MJPEG compression. In particular, 2.7K has even higher bitrate (=> can record less time) than 4K!In theory, MJPEG could have some benefits for action videos — it compresses each frame separately so might deal with rapidly changing picture better than H264 formats that rely on similarity between frames. But in practice, the video I’m getting in 4K and 2.7K from this camera so far (only started playing with it today!) not nearly sharp enough to take advantage of all those pixels :-(. And that’s not surprising — if it actually recorded sharp 4K in MJPEG the files would have to be gigantic. So either the optics & sensor can’t really achieve these resolutions, or the MJPEG compression is tuned to be highly lossy, or both.[Attaching 4K sample from this cam: note how the printed text is unreadable, looks like typical jpeg text artifacts. Shooting same papers at 4K from my phone, text was quite readable.]In any case, I feel it’s more realistic to think of this as a ~1080p video camera…* It’s possible that stills, and/or USB webcam mode, do benefit from higher resolutions?* In wifi mode, the live stream at rtsp://192.168.1.1/MJPG is ridiculously low 720×400 resolution.

Cheaper alternative to GoPro / Many Options
I’m not a pro, but was looking for an inexpensive option to record my band rehearsals and practices, etc, instead of recording an hour + on my phone. I tested it and works- haven’t actually filmed that long, but if I ever play a show underwater or anything necessitating a helmet cam it comes with all the mounts you need. Comes with 2 batteries, which is nice. Only a few buttons for usage, which is a plus as a novice, but many settings in the onscreen menu. The stand pictured is my own though

OK, more or less
The camera is ok for the money you pay. The battery is weak. To record one hour on battery you need to set recording to 1080 30fps. 4k recording will kill the battery much faster.Good thing: If I’m not mistaking the date/time sets automatically when you connect to camera with phone application. This is convenient, because when you change batteries, the date/time are dropped to default.
