About this item Sophisticated rubber armored exterior design provides shock resistance and a firm comfortable grip Locking diopter control maintains your personal setting Flip-down objective lens covers Nikon’s Legendary ED (Extra-low Dispersion)Glass Lenses Waterproof (up to 1m/3.3ft for 10 minutes) and nitrogen-purged for fog-free performance
Some of the most exciting moments happen in the magical light of dawn and dusk. Monarch M5 binoculars are built for these moments. Large 42mm objectives with a generous field of view gather more of the scene and more of what you’re out there to experience. Adjustable turn-and-slide eyecups with long eye relief make these the most comfortable Monarch binoculars yet. Nikon’s renowned ED glass reduces chromatic aberration while the dielectric high-reflective multilayer prism coatings ensure superior light transmittance; resulting in brighter images and more natural colors. In addition, phase-corrected coatings are also applied to prism surfaces to increase image resolution. The result? Better, more clear and brighter optics to take your adventure to new heights.
The roof prisms on Monarch M5 binoculars have a phase-corrected coating applied to prism surfaces for higher resolutions. This is a view you have to see to believe.
Applied to all lens and prism surfaces, a dielectric high-reflective multilayer prism coating ensures superior transmittance uniformity across the visible range, resulting in brighter images and more natural colors.
Used in many premium Nikon optics, from camera lenses to spotting scopes, Nikon’s ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass virtually eliminates common distortion, chromatic aberrations and color fringing. The result? Clear high-resolution views in nearly any lighting condition.
Get as close as 8.2-ft. from your subject, for striking high-detailed views. The large, smooth-spinning central focus knob makes it easy to precisely adjust focus.
Monarch M5 binoculars deliver a wider field of view than their predecessors. Seeing more detail and viewing more of the scene makes it easier to locate your subject within the binoculars, key when spotting birds and wildlife amid trees and landscapes.
Nikon’s comfortable high-eyepoint design leaves sufficient space between your brow and the eyecups for a clear field of view, even when you’re wearing glasses.
Convenient turn-and-slide operation makes it easy to get the durable rubber eyecups right where you want them for maximum comfort and field of view.
An enhanced rubber-armored body provides non-slip grip and protection from bumps and bruises.
Nitrogen filled and O-ring sealed for fog-free performance. Keep your optics clear when you need them most.
Starting at just 22.2 ounces (8×42 model), Monarch M5 binoculars are compact and lightweight—ready to travel with you anywhere.

Great for birdwatching!
I bought these binoculars for birdwatching and wildlife. They are super sharp and clear. They’re fairly lite to carry. For the money it would be hard to beat is binoculars.

Disappointed
I will try and write a longer review later. But, I am really disappointed in these binoculars. I keep trying to make them better. Thinking maybe it is just my eyes. Nah.Three things that are really bad. The depth of view of the focus is shallow. Like really shallow. A few inches at best. I can’t get things in focus without a bunch of back and forth. And even then, I am not sure if I am in focus.Second, the out of focus areas behind the focus point can be really annoying. It catches your eye, especially if it is bright. And third, bright areas can blow out the image. The light reflecting off the side of the hummingbird feeders ruin the image. And, fourth, the dioptor is hard to move.As a comparison, and it could be not fair, my other binoculars are Swarovski’s.Some reviewers have compared these Nikon’s to much better binoculars. Not these. These are a million times less than the SwarovskiMaybe I got a bad one. I bought some Monarch 3’s 6 years ago where the barrels were misaligned. So, maybe Nikon isn’t all that great anymore.

Lovely lenses, very nice binoculars. For the price, really brilliant glass. Despite my high regard, I am returning the item and will try 8x in the hope that it works better with my shaky hands.

I love these binoculars! The brightness and clarity is amazing! I found them easy to adjust, the neck strap is comfortable. I purchased them mainly for birding but I’m sure they will be nice for any wildlife viewing. I am so thankful I got the 10 power.

A bit too expensive for what it offers; not working well with eyeglasses
Better chromatic aberration than Nikon p7. But field of view really small. The eye relief is longer but surprisingly not good with eyeglasses. The sweet spot is a bit further away from the lens so that you have to try really hard finding it. For p7 you just need to touch eyeglasses against the lens.

Great pair of binoculars
I’ve use 10x binoculars for years and decided to change to an 8x pair since I’m rarely looking more than 300 yards in the thick timber I hunt. Happy I decided to try them. Clear and bright picture, especially at low light. And more than enough magnification for my hunting.

For decades I’ve used high-end Swarovski binoculars in my work, and love their optics. But they are heavy. I bought these Nikons in order to have a lighter-weight pair. They are good for longer hikes and for travel.

Nikon is a “best value”
I bought these for my wife who is a birder. They are fantastic. I have Leica’s for work that cost 7 times the price and although these Nikon’s are not as powerful, I prefer them for most things. These are the M5 series. They make a M7 series that cost more but I can’t imagine they can be much better. Excellent product in my opinion.

Bigger than I thought
They are amazing binoculars. However, they are quite large and heavy enough that you’ll need a sizable backpack to carry them around. Great for the seasoned pro but they won’t fit in your pocket, even if it is a large one.

This was the next step up from my previous pair, and worth it. That little bit of extra magnification really made a difference. Used it for eagle nest and osprey nest spotting.

Insufficient packaging
The product is wonderful and exactly what I ordered. However, there was definately insufficient packaging in the box to pad the biniculars. There was only 2 of the “airbags”, and one of them was flat. The packaging called for 6-8 airbags, or something more adequate (air-bubble). I am worried that the prism alignment of the binoculars might have been impacted by the insufficient by the very inadequate packaging. Certainly not the way anyone should treat a $260 pair of new binoculars. Uff.

Challenge to master, but worth it
The media could not be loaded.
Using 12x binoculars is more of a challenge than 8x, with some shakiness while trying to capture video on my phone through an adapter, BUT these were ideal for our Alaskan cruise and whale watching. This 1:21 clip is the end of watching these whales up close for nearly 15 minutes! Nikon for the win!

Bright, easy to hold steady and sharp.
I am a casual user of binos who became interested in birding when a friend sent pictures he captured in his back yard. I recently bought a pair of used Nikon zoom binos and it had a mount for monopod or tripod. I have 10×42 binos and cannot hold them still to look through more than a few seconds. One has a mount (Redfield) and other did not (Nikon Prostaff 3S). I wanted an 8×42 that was decent for seeing wildlife without tripod.Pros:1 Sharp and bright2 Quality good at price3 Has mount for tripod under Nikon emblem4 Easy to hold steady5 Lens caps attached so will not loose them.Cons:1 Eyepiece cover is very loose.Do far loving them but will update if needed.

Nikon Monarch M5 10×42: A Mixed Bag of Optics
The image quality is undeniable. Crisp details, vivid colors, and excellent light transmission make these binoculars a joy to use in bright conditions. Twist-up eyecups cater to various eyeglass configurations, offering a personalized viewing experience. These binoculars are hefty, making them tiring to hold for extended periods. It’s not ideal for long hikes or treks. They’re a solid option if you prioritize image quality and durability for occasional outdoor use. But if you value portability, a wider field of view, or a smoother focusing experience, you should explore other options before committing.

I CAN SEE THE LIGHT!!!
PERFECT, but i can’t wait to get My M7’s for a WDER Field Of View (436 ft) to study CONSTELLATIONS & SUCH in the night sky. I HOPE they have the same CLARITY as the M5’s. The NIKON 5.3mm Ocular Lenses aka The Exit Pupil, are the way to go. ED. LOW LIGHT. FOG. NIGHTTIME. THE MOON. PLANETS. STARS. SHOOTING STARS. AIRPLANES. DRONES, UAP’s. UFO’s. FOOS. BIRDS. EAGLES IN FLIGHT. CRITTERS. BARE TREES. THE LAY OF THE LAND. STEADIER. EASIER LONG TERM GLASSING. BRIGHT. 3D HEAVEN. The M5’s are My TIGHT 8×42 ED’s, & My M7’s will be My WIDE 8×42 ED’s!!! The M5’s will eventually be My 8×42 ED Beaters. If i knew what i knew today yesterday, i would just buy the M7’s & take the plunge. They’re $200 more & can be purchased on sale for under $440. Can i get married to NIKON?!!

Awesome Binoculars!
Well, my new Nikon M5 8×42 arrived the other day! Talk about “crisp, clear” viewing, Nikon does it well! I’m a birder, and these new binoculars are going to be a joy to use in the field. This pair replaces a former, different “brand”, and I am really glad that I purchased the M5 8×42. Can’t go wrong with these! JB

Bright crisp optics for amateur bird watchers
Began some amateur bird watching recently. Old pair of binoculars were dark and had too much magnification to find and center a bird easily. These Nikons have a larger field of view, which makes it easier to find and center on a bird, and they are much brighter and crisper, making details much more visible. I love the optical quality of these binoculars.

Great low cost binoculars
I am so pleased with these binoculars. They are light weight and have easy focus. I was using heavier, much more expensive Swarovsky binoculars so I have high standards, and these at this cost rival the much more expensive alternatives. I am an avid birder so I use these everyday. I am delighted I found them.
