Critical Mechanical Failure After 2 Months of Use!

I loved this camera when I first got it right when it was released and have used it often (2 times per week for 2 months). I definately noticed the overheating issues that have been mentioned previously. The overheating is especially severe when you plug in the device and leave it on when charging. We have learned to adjust intuitiveness to suit the issues we have experienced with the pocket 2. We now shut off the pocket 2 when charging. We also have to remember to unplug the device after we have uploaded our videos. Basically if you have this device plugged in it will get alarmingly hot. Because we are not used to this happening we have forgotten to unplug a few times and found it a day later sizzling and plugged in. I am not sure if this has had something to do with the following issues but if so be VERY careful to unplug always. In addition to the overheating, there was a critical malfunction with the device itself that required me to get a replacement. Out of the blue one day when I went to use it I received an error message that the gimble was in protected mode and was unable to use my camera. Of course I researched to see if there was a resolution. Others who had experienced this error message claimed they cleaned the area to make sure no particles were stuck but when I looked to see if there was any obstruction I noticed that wires and gimble mechanics were exposed as if the top of the gimble exploded (see pictures). There was no repair for this as it was a mechanical malfunction that seemed to pop off the internal organs of the gimble. I want to be very clear that the device was never dropped or handled without care (asides for the few times we forgot to unplug the device after charging or moving over content which really shouldn’tbe an issue in the first place). I know anyone can say they did not do anything wrong and its up to you to take my word for it but I am concerned that with no outside force the pocket 2 is capable of malfunctioning and breaking itself. The wide angle lens was not used before it randomly broke so it was not an issue of the lens getting stuck when the device was powering off. I truly do not know what could have happened to cause this and am wondering if anyone else experienced this issue or if it is related to the over heating?Another annoyance that I have experienced is the timeout when I shut off the device and the lense goes into its protective spot but only for about 5 seconds and then it no longer holds its position and flaps around. If I am not fast enough to smoosh it into its case within that time I am forced to physically maneuver the head of the gimble into the case. Its a minor annoyance but it seems that the pocket 2 has numerous minor annoyances. I am not sure why the device can not maintain its closed position when the camera is off.Overall the camera quality is amazing and you can not beat the size and portability which fornme is the biggest selling point. The accessories (while expensive and necessary to have a full and positive experience) allow anyone to create high quality video content with ease. My main concern is that after 2 short months I am having to request a replacement because of a freak mechanical malfunction that rendered my camera useless. I certainly hope that my device was simply defective and my new one will be perfect! We will see though. I will update my review and star count after receiving and using the replacement. Without the critical failure, I would give this device 4 stars. I do hope the overheating issue can be resolved in a future firmware update (if so 5 stars). I recommend the Pocket 2 cautiously as I am hoping that a recall does not occur as a result of other users having a similar experience as mine. I am really hoping my experience was just an anomaly more for my sake over DJI’s because I love this camera.

So much fun, my favorite camera period!

At first I was concerned about the activation as another reviewer wrote. I don’t like what they ask either but lets get along now. I used this and love using it. With my iPhone 12 Pro Max it is the total package. By itself it is more top heavy to use, but I still enjoy it without my phone. The wireless mic haven’t tried it yet, but may where the applications calls for it. I look even for this to be a camera for my Panasonic AG-UX90 professional camcorder. It can mount on my cold shoe, as I get a static shot with the camcorder I can pan and get 2nd perspective shots and merge in post. I have never seen such a wonderful device so small be so big on image and video quality. It gives my Sony a6400 during the day a run for its money. Even my Panasonic is kept honest. During low light is where this camera will falter. Physics folks. But still for on the go, and impromptu video and photography, best camera I have ever seen. Saw a YouTube presenter give one to his kid to learn with. Awesome gift for creating as he grows, this camera continues to entertain for him. More than a smartphone, smaller than anything else, and better than an action camera given its purpose of use. I can’t get over how good the audio is too. Wtih 4 mics this thing sounds better than it should. Does it sound better than my iPhone? Maybe, or not, but still unexpected pleasure there too. Some don’t even bother with the wireless mic. I love that tripod made of metal and the clever fold out design. The case is genius too keeping it all together in my pants or shirt or coat pocket or backpack. I recommend this for anyone who want to have fun with video and pics. It can’t be beat. I have a laugh every time I use it. It just looks like hand held E.T. and makes fun and good video. The gimbal function is tops too. Buy one, just get the regular, most won’t need the creators package, but the wifi and wireless mic are nice to have just not a must have for most.

General speaking it is great, lightweight and good price. but many audio issues

So I like the product: lightweight, convenient, great price. I have been used it to record our vacation, and notice there are many difficulties with audio settings.1. We had never once successfully connected the wireless mic — and it seems like a never-been-resolved issue that many users encountered (https://forum.dji.com/thread-228935-1-1.html)2. It’s not even able to wire in another mic if you had already paired its wireless mic :(this is painful, and I am looking for customer service, will update if I were having a good experience of that.

    Great camera for specific circumstances

First of all, the price on this camera is low so you can leave your more expensive professional gear aside when shooting with this. In most cases I’ve found gimbal stabilized footage is hard to achieve with most cameras. You have to mount an expensive camera, calibrate the gimbal, then hope everything goes well and you don’t damage your investment. This camera on the other hand does excellent stabilization and with sufficient lighting gives a nice sharp image. Because the gimbal and camera are a single unit there is nothing to set up before the shot and the results are nicely stabilized. Often that’s all we need from action shots. A clear picture and good stability. If you need great low light performance or high dynamic range then you will need to put a professional camera on a gimbal. In my case the action shots I get with DJI Pocket 2 do not need high dynamic range or low light. I’m happy with what this camera does for me.

Great little video camera, and creator combo.

I had trouble with my first order from amazon, they sent me a used camera, which had some flaws. But they were able to send me a new one with a promise to return the original. Happy I went with that option.4.5 stars. This is a solid gimbal video camera perfect for carry with you almost all the time grab and go camera. It does burn through batteries when you are doing 20 min stop motion sequences (bring another battery) and needs a little work in HDR hopefully a patch will fix that. At first I did not like the fact that the camera turns on and faces you, although there is an alternative startup that has the camera facing away from you. Audio is great.Gimbal is amazing. I had my first gimbal 25 years ago when I got a Steadicam for my video camera and fell in love with stabilized video. Over the years I’ve owned several others, including dji for my cell phone. But having one this small built into the 4K camera and not having to balance it every time is amazing. I do wish, I could control the camera more without needing a phone connected to it via wifi and have a little finer control to the gimbal, but maybe it will take more practice (only been using it for about a week).Quality of the camera is good except with light backgrounds which tends to over expose and darken foreground, hope that better hdr will solve that problem in the future, I know pro mode can fix that. I will definitely use this camera more than anything else I own.DJI does give you the opportunity to buy accident replacement on it for an extra $29, since its so small I went with it. Hopefully it will run great for years though.

    good, not great

first off, i will say that this camera is PERFECT for beginners with 20/20 eye sight. i’ve had this camera for a couple of months now and while some aspects are amazing, some are not.to start off with the positives, it’s perfect for beginner vloggers who are a bit camera shy! i’m not a vlogger but i do film content and it’s so compact it’s barely noticeable. and because the camera stabilizes itself, i don’t have to worry about holding it perfectly still like i usually have to do when i’m filming with my iphone.but some pretty blaring negatives: the camera battery is absolutely horrible. it only has about 56 minutes of video time total before it dies, which is EXTREMELY unfortunate especially because this is advertised as a vlog camera for content creators. the camera screen is also very small, almost too small? you can connect it to your phone but then that defeats the purpose of having a small camera to begin with. the packaging is also a bit flimsy, and although the case that it comes with is very functional, it’s not the most secure. the additional parts always come loose when i try to put the camera in/out, so i had to get a zippered case with this purchase.overall a solid camera, but disappointing in some regards. won’t be returning because i’m pretty sure i’m past my return window.

    Minor Problem

The function button on my DJI Pocket 2 does not work as described in the manual. When I pressed the button multiple times to re-center of to change the camera’s direction (forward facing or rearward facing), it would only change between photo mode and video mode. It would only work in video mode if I kept pressing it more than the number of times (2 or 3) as described in the manual. It seems to work as described only when it is in photo mode. After I re-centered the camera or changed its direction, then I can change from photo mode to video mode. The battery also ran down quite quickly. It could be because I was experimenting with all the different settings. I bought a Smatree power stick so this should not be a problem.I have not tried the external microphone. The wifi works fine. I can control the DJI Pocket 2 using a smartphone remotely over wifi without having to use the smartphone connector. This allows me to see the camera view on the smartphone even when the DJI Pocket 2 is far away at the end of a fully extended extension rod.

    Good quality and small size.

Great video quality and stabilization in such a small size. Easy to use, only the set up is a little slow. Even though the screen is a little bit small, it works great to touch and very easy to view. ( only 2 months of use)

    So incredibly impressed…

As I get up there in age, lately I’ve been thinking, I don’t have much to remember my family. Mostly some old low quality pictures. No ones fault, technology was just not there years ago. Not like it is now. So I’ve been on a mission to start preserving family and memories for my kids, grand kids and maybe even great grands, ect.Month or so ago I bought the DJI Mini 2 drone and was just blown away by it’s quality and features. I noticed DJI had this camera and I knew I could count on it being very good. And it is. So good.I am no photography expert, so not going to say it’s the best or anything. But for me, for preserving family memories it’s just incredible. I love how small and light weight this camera is. Fits in your hand, you could even put it in your pocket. Power it on, push the record button and you are in business. So easy to use! So far it’s had great stabilization. Perfect point and record camera. The video this takes is fantastic. We’ve been playing the videos on our 65″ 4K bravia tv and it’s an awesome. Looks so good with great colors and clarity. Could not be happier. I have not learned all it can do, so really excited to discover all the features.I only have one very small negative, though not totally a negative. I find the do all handle very difficult to take off. But for me it’s a good permanent attachment and rarely have any reasons to take it off. I also wish the battery life was better, but it is recording 4K. And there are power bank attachments. One tip… if you do buy this camera, be sure to get the thumb wheel attachment, it is SO much better than the default toggle and it adds more functions right at your finger tips.If you are on the fence with one, get it, you won’t be sorry. Highly recommend.

    Fantastic Quality For the Price

This is a powerful little piece of equipment! I primarily use the the BMPCC4K in my line of work, so I’m accustomed to a higher level of visual quality. The DJI Pocket 2 delivers imagery that, although I do see the difference when looking at them side-by-side in the same video project, is good enough that I do use it from time to time if it’s more suitable for a particular shoot. For example, if I want portability, or if I want to have a smooth gimbal shot without rigging a large and heavy rig, or if speed is more important than quality, this little guy does the trick quite nicely.Pros:- Price point is phenomenal.- Decent image quality for its price. It is definitely at least as good as the best phone cameras, and definitely better than most $500-$1,000 point-and-shoot camcorders.- Highly portable, and the included protector is great for safe transportation.- Convenient for quick shooting. Very easy to get creative angles.- 60fps at 4K is amazing at this price range. When you play it back at 50% speed, combined with the gimbal, it produces some STUNNING smooth-motion shots!Cons:- The menus and mode-switching features (such as toggling from zoom mode to gimbal servo) are not very intuitive.- The screen is extremely small, so it’s sometimes difficult to make out your subject or (more importantly) make sure that the subject is in focus. I got an $60 mount to attach my phone for a larger viewing screen. Here’s the one I purchased: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QX492BL- No manual focus, which is to be expected for a device like this.- Manual exposure is both confusing and limited in its capabilities. If shooting outdoors, I would recommend getting some ND filters.- Compared to the BMPCC4K, it’s a little more work to color it in post. The out-of-camera imagery is slightly dull for my tastes. If I were to do it all over again, I would still purchase it! Especially if you don’t have the budget for the DJI Pocket 3. This will definitely do the trick.

    Amazing!

This camera is tough! I’ve dropped so many times. I bought it to record out doors and my home renovation. I’ve dropped in creeks, off ladders. Covered it in demo dust and it has paint marks on. Still records great.

    consider something else

the products are slick.. that is were the divorce begins. i saw this at disney world and purchased this (amazon) and a used OSMO2 smartphone gimble at a local camera store. FIRST AND FORMOST all of the firmware/ softwear from DJI is geared towards APPLE, full stop. ANDROID is more like the floaters that are left in the toliet after an episode of food poising.in order to use the devices you basically have install some spywear app’s from DJI , then approve all requests or premissions that will get the device to function. if you use APPLE you are allready a use to this envasive protocol. Android user are not. the applications ( on the android side ) seem to have more software issues because when a kernel update is launched then all kinds of havoc is unleashed. i use older android devices ( 5 years or older ) that dont use certian coding protocalls for newer technology , yet it renders some function useless on either the phone or the device. if you have a device still uses the micro usb your screwed . thier is only a ceritan number of APPROVED devices on the android side that will work with this device .. THEY DONT MAKE THIS CLEAR AT TIME OF PURCHASE (purchased pocket 2 from AMAZON). if the device is not a top tier model ( samsun s9 or s20 etc.) forget about using this pocket2 you will unable to activate it. even if you get an USB adapter.the amount of data and functions they are asking to access is and or control of is alarming . case in point the minio / pocket2 . inorder or use the device it is mandated you attach the device TO AN APPROVED PHONE to register it. WHY ?? its a bloody video camera i OWNE it not DJI . if you fail to do this the pocket 2 becomes inactive.. NOW what DJI??? .. stuiped dumb and insulting towards the consumer, asking premission to use something that i have rightfully paid for is WRONG . punishing the consumer has cost APPLE millions of potential customers.as slick as this these devices are .. look elsewhere not because of the hardwear .. but the awful and hedious softwear and lackluster support.

An improvement overall from the first Osmo Pocket

I had the first Osmo Pocket for two years and I really enjoyed it, it had a few downsides though like when a room was even a little dim, you could see visual noise in the footage and photos. Also whether you were outside or inside, the contrast and exposure were sometimes all over the place. The only way to TRY to fix it was to adjust the settings manually for each shot…but even then…there were limitations. This Osmo Pocket 2 is much better in the sense that when I filmed the same dim rooms or low light settings, the camera performed much better with little to no visual noise. The contrast and exposures are much more even. If you’re filming a landscape that is in shadow, but there’s a bright sky, this Osmo Pocket will adjust the light so you can see the ground and landscape -which is an improvement because the last pocket would adjust for the sky and make the landscape look even darker. The Pocket 2 also has better sound, its clearer and sound tracking allows it so the microphones pick up wherever the camera is pointed. I generally use an external mic, so I’ll admit I haven’t used the built-in mic features much. The Pocket 2 also starts up faster, but the power button is now a separate button on the side of the camera, be careful not to accidentally press the button when you’re taking the camera out of the case or pushing it into the case.Speaking of case, the last Osmo was held into the case with a silicone strap, this one doesn’t use a strap, it uses friction…which I think is a bad idea because over time It will wear away at the sides of the camera, making it look bad. I can already tell that’s whats going to happen. The camera advertises 4k and HDR.. BUT what they don’t tell you is that the HDR is not available on the 4k setting, it is only available on the 1080p setting. That being said, the 4k setting by itself is a vast improvement over the first Pocket, and by doing a bit of color grading in post-production, it could pass for HDR footage.I was a bit confused when I bought it because DJI kept saying this has zoom, but they went back and forth as if it not only possessed digital zoom but also optical zoom. Let me clear that up. THERE IS NO OPTICAL zoom not even 2x optical zoom. It uses digital zoom only, which I personally don’t like, so I don’t use it.The camera still gets warm when shooting in 4k mode, however it doesn’t get nearly as hot as the first Pocket. My first pocket would get so hot the camera would shut down. This one doesn’t. At least it hasn’t yet. I like the little joy stick that comes with the camera. It allows you to move the gimball without neading to physically move your arm. This is useful for steadycam walking footage where you need to suddenly look up or down without switching to FPV mode. Just use the joystick. It moves the gimball at only 1 speed, but its a slow steady speed which is still good for getting steady footage. It would be cool if DJI incorporated software that allowed it to speed up or slow down from that speed when you push the joystick…but otherwise its a nice feature. If you’re new to Osmo Pocket, it is NOT an action cam, and it is NOT a lowlight cam. It’s best use is for daytime/sunset vlogging, walking tour, steadycam, or getting high-quality footage in a convenient pocket size. So don’t get it wet, and don’t try to shoot in near darkness or extreme sports.Everything in your shot is always in-focus, so don’t expect the kind of background blurring you get with DSLR’s focus. But if you want that kind of blurring, you can do that with Adobe Premiere Pro or Photoshop, so don’t worry. I have shot near-DSLR quality footage with this camera and after doing some adjustments in post-production it looks amazing. I highly recommend this camera for vloggers, or for professionals when you need some extra camera work done with convenience. As for the camera, the old pocket advertized a 12 MP camera, this one advertises a 64 MP camera. Normally that would mean the 64 MP would have a resolution almost 5 times the size…but in this case, the resolution is only a little bit bigger, the difference is in the camera’s ability to capture detail.I really like this camera, I think its a huge improvement over the original Osmo, for me it is the perfect camera. I personally don’t need any other cameras because this one does everything I need it to do. But I know a guy who uses this camera ALONG WITH his DSLR and he gets great footage that he pieces together into a cool video. So try it out. I think you’ll like it.

    Skeptic

I won’t lie I was tremendously skeptic about something this small and lightweight being able to produce any kind of good quality photo. Sometimes you’ll get something that advertises one thing but then when you get it there’s pixelation and distortion. I was tremendously proven wrong! This thing gives amazing photos and videos! I do videography on the side and one of my obstacles has been packing so much equipment and getting it through airport, to unload it on the other side, to get it into the car and then on to my event. For smaller events that don’t require a lot this thing is absolutely amazing. And the best thing is it can fit in your back pocket. The one thing that I did not know in advance is what was needed for live streaming. I assume that once I connected my phone to the camera which provides a bigger screen for you to see what you’re filming, I thought that I could stream through my phone. You cannot. You have to have the transmitter that fits into the bottom of this device in order to stream. The device calls $99 here on Amazon. The gimbal itself is very functional and it’s tracking. What I mean by that is if you are walking it doesn’t necessarily do a quick tracking that sometimes causes the camera to move too quickly. It’s more of a slow gentle glide which is great depending on what you’re filming. The downside to that is if you’re filming something where you are moving rather quickly the gimbal will lose the subject and you’ll have to recalibrate it again. All in all I would highly suggest this for anyone looking to do great photos or video while traveling. As far as it being water resistant I do not dare to try that out yet. But I’m currently just enjoying how this works. Battery life could be a little better. After 45 minutes of continuous filming I was down to 27% battery. And that was from it being charged 100%. So if you need to film longer this is a challenge as to the charging port may make it difficult for you to charge and film at the same time. You definitely would not be able to plug in your phone and the charger at the same time on the gimbal. All in all is a great product I highly recommend it

Great video/vlogging camera for small hands

Lots of great features jam packed into a small device. Semi easy to use, great quality coming out of it. However if you’re a bigger person with bigger hands, I highly suggest leveling up to the new model. Even more features, easier to use and better for people with big hands.

Not perfect, but highly functional, remotely controllable, cinematographic 4k stabilizing platform

One of the best handheld gimbals available! This is not a perfect product, but it is a well made, high quality, small, stabilizing 4k video platform that shoots wide enough angle, zooms, has good battery life, & will probably suit your needs if you are looking for something like it. It is a great product. One major drawback, especially if you are not familiar with editing software and plan to use this in multi camera edits, it records multiple files for each recording! If you record a 30 minute video you will get five or six individual video clips . This may or may not be a big deal, but it is definitely an annoyance at best and something I wish I had known before diving into the platform. You Must use the companion app to set up, And the display screen is so small and touch screen controls are so difficult, that you likely will want to use your phone or other mobile device for controls and viewfinder . Fortunately, the companion app really is quite nice and works very well and it is quite easy to clamp your phone onto some type of accessory that holds the camera and phone such that it’s not too big of an inconvenience. For quick impromptu shooting, it’s kind of a pain to always have to turn on your phone and connect to the camera and so you will end up using the onboard controls and screen at least some of the time and they are annoying at best to use, but if you are patient, it does perform the function of capturing great quality cinematographic up to 4k video up to 60 fps.It works best as an auxiliary additional camera to add in to your setup if you already have a Main DSLR, and use this gimbal camera for specifically shots that you just cannot get with a stationary interchangeable lens DSLR because of their size and lack ofremotely controllable, stabilizing, & tracking gimbal. I believe that is how it is intended to be used. I originally purchased it while my main camera was broken and it really did not work all that well as a main camera, and I was extremely happy to have my main camera come back online and when I was able to start using the pocket two as an additional camera, just to get both another angle for multicam videos as well as shots that a DSLR cannot get, I became quite pleased with its functionality and performance, but it isn’t suited, and just doesn’t lend itself well to functioning like a regular camera, and probably most people know that going in but I had never had a gimbal Camera, at least not handheld like this one, but overall, for what it is and what it is intended to be used for, it really is an awesome little device. One note, I would definitely either get the creator combo or purchase the do it all handle accessory as well as the wireless microphone accessory that come with the creator combo because they work extremely well with the camera and I cannot imagine using it without both of them. Other accessories are nice but those two are absolutely essential in my opinion, both for ease of use as well as performance. If you want the remote functionality & want to add cinematographic shots to your existing abilities, & have the money to spend on the combo, you will not be disappointed, except possibly by the multiple files, Which I cannot find a way to disable, so if anybody does No how to make it record just one file per recording, please comment!Good luck & enjoy

Good picture audio and image stabilization 🙂

Good picture and good audio. 👍 The Pocket 1 had weak audio. The recording volume on it was a little low. This one is much better. 🤗 Picture quality is good and it’s a little better in low light or at night with the exposure. The sharpness is ok. Face tracking is much better. It finds the face and centers it better. Loss of FT is less than before. Recovery of FT is better. Settings are changeable on the camera without the app. There might be 1 or 2 but I don’t think so.The app. It’s less intrusive than before. It only needs location and storage or camera. But they might be sneaky about it as they require you to agree to their terms. This time send reports or data send is off from out of the box. At least mine was. Hooking up to the app was faster and smoother this time. Literally took a couple of seconds. Could be because I already had an account. I didn’t get any FW update notices or FW updates. Already came with the new one.The accessories are cool and good quality. The mini tripod is nice. The external mic is pretty cool BUT it’s a little on the low side. You have to hold it pretty close to your mouth for good audio. They need to update the mic recording level. I bumped up the audio on both the external mic to 20dbs and up on the on board mics. The onboard microphones are better than the external mic. Its louder. The quality may be slightly better. Still though it’s pretty cool they have a wireless external mic with this. The adapter is way smoother than the plug adapter you had to use with the original pocket. Cleaner look.Tripod screws everywhere. 🙂 A piece you can attach to the pocket 2 one on the extension piece and one on the case. No more rubber strap. The case holds the camera snuggly with or without the wide angle lens. Another cool add on that I purchased for the original pocket. POV is much better than the pocket 1 with or without the WAL. The magnet could be slightly stronger. I lost it once.Another cool thing is the connector pieces the usb c and lightening and wide angle lens fit inside the case. Theres slots for them. 😮What needs improvement? Well the mic level on the external mic. The battery goes fast on the camera. The mic lasts a little bit longer. You might be able to squeeze 90min of straight recording. Recording doing shorter clips adjusting reviewing flipping back n forth in an hour you’ll have maybe 30% left. Give or take. The magnet on the WAL needs to be a little stronger. The thumb stick needs to be just a tad stiffer as I find I’m pressing down when I’m just trying to move the directional. The price 😳 $500 plus about $30 in tax yikes. You gotta think about it.Overall I like it. It’s better than the first one but still needs some minor tweaks and they can add some things. Throw in a lav mic. Those don’t cost too much. Make it to where you can 2 external mics connected. Increase battery life and maybe put in an extended battery in that mic adapter. 😊 I give it 4 stars instead of 5 because of the high price and audio level on the external mic. Oh and uh the wind screen dead bug is really lose on the external mic. You can easily knock it off. For some thoughts and samples … YouTube. 😎

Neat toy, but functionally not a usable camera

Some background: I got this to help record my son’s basketball games and was tired of filling up my phone storage. The Pocket 2 seemed just what I needed. This experiment lasted two days before I got fed up with it.Let’s get the positives out of the way which, unfortunately won’t take long. The size of this camera is unobtrusive and the image stabilization on the Pocket 2 is fantastic and, frankly, amazing. The gimbal keeps the camera level regardless of your hand position and it’s just fascinating to watch. It’s remarkable engineering and it keeps the recorded image very smooth. Unfortunately, that’s the end of the positives because, from a user and practicality standpoint, the Pocket 2 is just frustrating to try to use.First, let’s start with the instructions. The Pocket 2 isn’t particularly complicated but it’s not intuitive either. Fortunately, there are several videos available in the accompanying DJI Mimo app that explain how to use the camera. Unfortunately, there’s a lot of these videos that you have to go through and the audio is also entirely in Chinese. There are helpful subtitles on the screen but, if you’re trying to follow along by looking at the camera, this requires you to keep looking back and forth from the device to the video. There are also videos about the device app controls which, again, if you’re following along requires you to exit the video to access the camera so you can see what you’re supposed to be looking at. This is really tedious. As for the camera controls, the Pocket 2 comes with slide-in manual zoom and camera controls along with interface ports for USB-C or iOS devices. Unfortunately, there’s only one slot for these so you can’t control the camera using the manual controls and have it plugged into a device at the same time (we’ll come back to that in a minute). Incidentally, the carrying case has slots built into it that are supposed to be able to store these slide-in pieces when not in use but they don’t really fit, at least not securely. These pieces are extremely easy to lose so you’ll need some sort of baggie to keep them safe and/or handy. However, manual control is kind of a moot point as the viewscreen on the device is literally the size of an adult thumbnail. This is also a touch screen so just trying to change settings on the device is an exercise in squinting at a tiny screen and trying to touch it with the smallest possible part of your finger. All of this means that you pretty much have to connect the Pocket 2 to your phone or tablet to make it usable. But, this is also a problem as the USB-C/iOS ports are too small to use with a device that has a case on it, meaning that you must take the case off of your device to make it connect to the camera.Once plugged in, the image stabilization is obvious and you have a lot of control (through the controls on your device) over the image. However, as good as the gimbal is on this camera, the zoom is just atrocious. It’s not smooth at all. The zoom essentially strobes or “steps” in and out which is completely the opposite of every other aspect of the camera’s operation and, for me, completely ruined the smooth nature of the shot.Honestly, I might have been able to live with all that if not for the kicker which is that the full battery life — at least, in my experience — was under 90 minutes! That was not continuous use either. It went from 100% power –> 0% power with less than 15 minutes of video to show for it.All in all, the idea of spending $300-$400 for an “action” camera that requires me to carry essential pieces of it in a separate bag and requires me to remove the protective case on my device so I can use it and requires me to carry separate power for it, all while making it more difficult for me to learn its full use and not being completely happy with the eventual image anyway makes for a very dissatisfied customer. The gimbal is a neat piece of engineering but this isn’t a camera, it’s a toy.

Great Camera, Some of The Creator Combo Parts are Dinky and Not Worth it, but Some Probably Are

Love my DJI Pocket 2, and glad I bought it and the creator combo package. The best part of the creator combo package is the mic, but the ability to connect to my iPhone through the handle is also super cool. The tripod is useful and I use it all the time, but after a few months, it’s really loose and feels unreliable. the mini-control stick, was cool while it lasted, but it always felt cheap, and broke after about 6 months. DJI asked me to send it in, but I don’t live in the US, so it’s not worth it. The wide angle lens is probably really cool, and I thought it was neat how it magnetically attaches to the camera cover, until one day I looked for it and it was gone. I don’t mind sharing some of the blame on that one, but still buyer beware. It falls off.Anyway, I love my DJI and take it everywhere, but the crappiness of the mini control stick and tripod definitely take away from the overall enjoyment of the product. 1st class camera, el-cheapo tripod and mini-control stick. Still super cool product

Camera gets hot. Cannot use 2 Wireless Mics.

I bought this camera with intention of using it for vlogging. One of the things I noticed right away is that after a few minutes the camera starts to get hot and becomes a little uncomfortable to hold. It made me nervous especially since I sweat rather easily. Also the most the battery lasted for me (filming in 4k, 30f) was about 70-80 minutes. Lastly, I did not know this before but with the do it all handle you can only use one wireless mic. I had bought a 2nd mic for the do-it-all, however, it did not sync. So you cannot use 2 mics at once which was a deal killer for me.The quality of the videos is excellent. However, for me, that just wasn’t enough to keep so I returned it.

Poor user-interface, poor factory wide-angle lens, ok lens

Good video and audio quality, mobile app is adequate. I did have encountered that Pocket 2 turned dark and only iphone showed the image – no good. The worst design to me is the magnetic wide lens. The lens does not have adequate staying power. In my first outdoor shooting, the ‘lens’ disappeared.Bad bad design: If you do not constantly watch for this add-on lens, you will lose it without a trace. What an aweful design!!! The built in battery is also not a good design. Once your battery is dead then your pocket 2 is gone? The Bluetooth and WiFi should be included. I compare pocket 2 with Xiaomi and Zhiyun – I am surprised why you have to spend $160 to get ‘creator’ version to have this part. The wireless camera is good to be included but most of the shooters will not need it.The user interface is not very intuitive – not consistent. If the developer follows iPhone or Android approach, the interface will be less confusing – swipe left, swipe right, swipe up or down can be invoked by the cursor button – in lieu of the phone adaptor cover. Instead, you have to use the screen and the not obvious button to go forward and backward. I have no clue why this interface is clumsily done – I will rate it to be ‘c’.The interface is extremely disorganized. The cover of the lens is missing – a simple hard plastic will do, why it is missing? The case holding the gear make it easily scratch the lens and view finder or screen.Quality of the video is on par with 4K device. The audio is clear. But setting is spreader in setting and the individual features. Why can’t you make it all under video-resolution-features in a hiarachical manner as opposed to be scattered around different places. I can’t find the audio setting – saw it once then I can’t find it after I changed my setting from video resolution or pro setting. To me the software is poorly designed though the feature is there. There is still a lot of improvement to be made in user interface. I am sure that people can make use of this pocket camera – not bad but I hope it can be vastly improved in the user-interface and camera lens – don’t make an add-on lens so easily to be lost without a trace. Make a true protector case – the hard plastic case will scratch the gear – not good !!!

DJI Pocket 2 is so lit! The best pocket camera!!!

I bought my Pocket 2 as a replacement for my old Osmo Pocket which unfortunately was lost a couple of months ago. I was actually looking towards the GoPro Hero 9 until I discovered that the Pocket 2 was about to come out. So I waited until the specs came out and, when it did, I was pretty impressed! There were a lot of improvements made from the previous Osmo Pocket, some of which were not available to other pocket camera competitors. For one, the sensor is large: It’s bigger than the GoPro 9’s! Imaging and video capabilities have been ramped up with both AutoFocus and the ability to shoot 64 MP stills. There are two things that I loved about the Pocket 2. The first one is the wider FOV. At 110 degrees (which you can achieve using the add-on wide-angle lens in the Creator Combo package), you can get more in your view without having to use an extender or stretching your arm. While others have wider FOVs, the Pocket 2 has that perfect balance that combines the wider view without that fishbowl look that cameras with wide FOVs often suffer from. The second thing that I like, which you will too, is the improved audio. When it comes to pocket cameras, and even action cameras, you can’t get any better than the DJI Pocket 2. It has 4 built-in microphones, and using the Pro mode you can even set which ones you would like to use in order to get crisp and clearer sounds. I’ve used these in windy days, near traffic, in industrial sites, and I can say that sound quality is top-notch.Other good features, which I don’t particularly care for, are the facts that it can now livestream and that it can now do 8x slow motion. Oh, and did I mention that THE DJI POCKET CAN NOW DO ZOOM??? Yes, the Pocket 2 can now do 8x zoom, but you can only do 2x zoom for 4k videos. If you get the Creator Combo, you’ll get a bunch of goodies like the Do-It-All Handle which will allow you to connect to WiFi and Blutooth as well as connect to a bunch of other peripherals like mics and tripods.

    Good for beginners

The media could not be loaded.

Learning how to use the DJI Pocket 3 was fairly easy. There are plenty of YouTube, how to get started videos, as well as more advanced films. In addition, some people share good ideas on how to be creative with the camera. The motion stability is good in the air and on the ground. In the video included, one can see the aircraft bouncing while the camera image remained stable. There are several affordable lens and ND filter options, as well as quality sound devices. The film above was taken in the air, with a wide angle lens and an 8 ND filter.

Takes great video but the worlds worst instructions and customer support

This is an amazing camera that takes fantastic videos. But there is a steep learning curve and not everything is intuitive. The small touch screen has lots of controls and lets you see what you are shooting provided that you are not in bright sunlight. Fortunately you can connect it to your iPhone but what is not clear is that you can only connect via a tiny solid link that mounts to the camera (not a wire). You cannot carry it around like that. The DJI Mimo app offers little help but once you do get it connected it seems like a fairly good app. What they don’t tell you is that if you want to connect via WiFi you have to but either buy the Expansion kit ($60) or the Do-It-All handle ($99). The WiFi connection is rather kludgy in it that actually creates its own router with a separate SSID that you must authorize. It all works fairly easily after you get through about 5 popup windows the first time that you connect. Of course your phone cannot be used for accessing anything else while connected to the camera. The other frustrating thing is that the base unit comes with no memory card. But the Expansion kit does have one. But the base on the expansion kit does NOT have Bluetooth which is a far easier way to connect to an iPhone. But, contrary to what their customer service people told me the Do-It-All handle does have Bluetooth. Sadly that Bluetooth only connects to their remote mike and not to phones. I’m sure that a software fix could remedy this. Currently if you are connected to the camera via WiFi the DJI Mimo features that require an internet connection (like tutorials) do not work. There are lot of YouTube videos on the DJI website but this cameras features are so complicated that they go through things too fast and the explanations are not adequate. But overall it does take fantastic pictures and has lots of features. Just don’t look for any help from DJI’s customer service which also has very poor phone connections (maybe they are calling from Mars).

    So great for traveling!

Although I had to watch YT videos to learn to use it, it is really great! I think it’s best for traveling. When I use my phone for pictures when vacationing in Europe, it takes two hands, and while you are carefully holding it and then using the other hand to push the button, you risk having a thief steal it or dropping it.This puppy requires only one hand and the very nature of holding it in your palm and using your thumb to push the button means you have a death grip on it and nobody is going to try to grab it from you! It is completely encased in your hand, with only the lens poking out the top… I feel so much safer taking this overseas.

Got the black screen of death

I bought a good condition unit from Amazon Warehouse. It arrived packaged very well, and basically looked brand new. Gave it a quick try and turned it on, and it seemed to work as intended.Left it charge overnight. The next day I started it up, and just got a black screen. It was one, you can see the gimble move, but could not access the functions or do anything else.I searched this online, and it seems to be an issue with a number of units (new ones too), with the only solution being to send the unit into DJI to fix. There is no explanation for the cause of issue, nor the solution/fix.I did not want to take a chance, so decided to return to Amazon for a refund. It’s crazy that DJI doesn’t offer an explanation at all for this issue.Buyer beware if you decide to purchase a Pocket 2.

    Some big limitations to consider

I just finished doing my first walk through using this, compared to my Samsung Note 20 Ultra and I’m not happy:1) I used a battery/extension so that I would have an extra 12″ of distance from my body and the mic/extender unit so another 2″ of distance.2) I used 4k 60fps – the default.3) I went for a walk for 20 minutes and talked into the camera. The first thing I notice is how terrible the video is. I don’t mean the image quality, but the composition. The DJI screen is so small this cannot be figured out until watching the video later. My face looks terrible, relative to any other camera I’ve used, mostly because of the combination of proximity and angle. I don’t think I can get a good angle without an extension rod. I don’t know if that will give me what I’m used to with the Samsung notes, but I’d say that the video looks 300% worse and is unusable because I could not see how bad it looks until I reviewed it on a big screen. The next thing I miss is the front/back option available on my Samsung- it lets me take a video with me talking in frame and capturing the front view. The worse thing, by far, though is that DJI breaks the videos into 3.8gb files. This means that I have five separate files for one 20 minute walk. People mention sound issues stitching these back together but I don’t care if it’s perfect when stitching things together. DJI is asking me to open these, import them into a video editor and stitch them together to share a simple 20 minute video on youtube. That is 500% more hassle than my Samsung Note 20, and many other cameras that allow me to take 2 hour videos and keep them as one file. What a nightmare!!!In short it is not even close to the ease, functionality and efficiency of using my existing phone with a $100. gimble – what a wasted opportunity, since it is lighter than my phone.

    Awesome camera

The best portable camera I’ve had, great video quality with lots of great features and the accessories are great as well, just the only complaint is the non removable battery, wish it had a removable to switch out and keep recording but works while plugged into a power bank

    NEver even used it

Three stars because I returned it upon opening. Reason? The process of understanding the instructions and downloading the App was confusing to me. I got through it but at first I downloaded the DJI Store App thinking this was the App they were instructing me to download. So I did but was immediately greeted with what felt like very strong Terms of Use that felt a little bit scary to me in terms of the info they wanted access to. Then I found the actual App for using this camera to download which I did but by then I was frustrated getting to this point by the instructions and store App so decided this was not the camera for me. I felt like I was merely buying a license to use this product and potentially allowing others to have access to my info on my smartphone. This may not have been the case but I wasn’t sure so I just returned it before touching the camera. I will say it looked like a nicely made product and the return to the DJI Store was smooth and without issue.

    Came as expected

The media could not be loaded.

It’s what I was expecting, satisfied with my order however the “osmo tripod adapter” is really hard to take out with your own hand (it’s a common complaint) I learned through an online format to just use the tripod and pop/pull it out and you’ll be fine 🙂 Quality is good. In low light my iPhone 14 captures better quality however.

    Good for shy vloggers!

Super compact that will fit into your purse. I love this camera as a shy vlogger, this doesn’t really look like a camera so even when you’re filming, no one will stare at you. Its image stabilization is also quite nice but a bit laggy, so you might have to manually adjust your focus point. It’s also small, which means it can be tossed around within the purse, and so putting it back into the case is a must to protect the lens which can be extra work if you’re lazy like me lol. But overall, I’m loving it!

    DJI Pocket 2 Creator Combo

Main reason for purchase was the microphone for interviews, the microphone works perfectly and the DJI brand holds value. The camera itself is very small, which makes the screen even smaller, and while connecting to my cell phone for a larger screen works well with the DJI app, that’s not as portable as I had planned. The zoom feature is difficult to see on the small screen and the camera format is truly not made to zoom.Great product, solid, use as intended and you’ll be happy with this purchase.

Activation policy and imposed disabling is bad politics

The hardware for this camera is edefinitely worth the price, however the software policies are incompatible with the American way of life. The software in this camera imposes a strict policy to require you to give up personal information to DJI, which is based in China. They can disable your use of this device at any time for any reason. You’re basically coming under the umbrella of policies devised by a Chinese company. Chinese culture and politics is totally incompatible with ours here in the US. The people in China do not enjoy the same level of freedom and privacy that we enjoy as Americans. They are in effect imposing their values upon the users of their products worldwide. I personally feel that this should be completely illegal under trade agreements.I am hoping that these policies change and this becomes a thing of the past! At the very least, this would make excellent hardware for open-sourcing software.

    Perfect Addition to the toolset!

So.. I use a drone to do most of my professional photos. But when I need to shoot indoors or in a super close space (indoors or outdoors) I use the DJI Pocket. It is amazing. I am not sponsored by DJI or AMAZON.I am an independent professional photographer on a mission. The mission is to produce the highest quality and highest resolution photos for my clients. This Pocket 2 blows our iPhones, SONY, Minolta, Vivitar away with quality. It is funny how they call it a pocket. IT IS ALWAYS IN MY POCKET NOW! 64K GREAT!I have several DLSR cameras. Gonna trade them in.There IS a learning curve associated with this device. (and I am still learning) But it is totally worth the price and effort to get comfortable with it. It pairs with an iPhone or Android. Or one could use it independently. Then download the Videos or photos to a PC or MAC. boom you’re done.I totally endorse this camera. The gimbal is excellent! It does “auto” or “pro” modes. Auto works great for most stuff, but I am enjoying Pro mode because it allows a lot of custom tweaking to get the shot right….. Said enough, Yes?

    Compact and Convenient!

Don’t expect the highest of highest quality. The reasons you should get the DJI Pocket is for its gimbal and for its smallness and compactness. The quality is not bad. Especially if you’re at the highest resolution. For a small gimbal camera, it’s great! The face tracking is great and the steadiness is amazing. However, even though it has a photo mode, I don’t recommend. Use your iPhone or Android camera for photos and the Pocket for video recording.Battery life is trash. If you’re at the highest quality, the pocket won’t last for an entire day. And it will over heat. Definitely need a portable charger or DJI’s extend battery plug in but that’s just a money grabber at this point.I never tested its water resistance and will not test it at all. DJI doesn’t mention anything about it however sells a water proof case so I’m sure it won’t withstand water. The reason I bought this was for its compactness. Where I can record events and moments without holding and carrying a big camera.

    Abundant shortcomings, privacy issues.

First of all DJI is forcing you to install and use a 420mb app on your phone before you can use the product. You have to go through pages and pages of policies and they still use you info. The app doesn’t even let you open it unless you let it use your phone location. This is the type of product that you own but not really since they could lock you out of the device for whatever reason (it’s in the 50 page policy). You need a phone with usb-c connetion also, or apple connection to use the product. I don’t want any compromised apps based in China forced on me to use this camera. I bought the gimbal to use as standalone, otherwise I would’ve used the camera on my phone which has a lot more features. Now to the real flaws of the gimbal camera, as it is lacking in many crucial areas.-It has what is known as exposure stepping where the color and brightness of the image abruptly changes as you move the camera around, as in light and shadow areas, it is not smooth. This results in amateurish footage, especially at dusk, or trick lighting situations.-The 4k footage and the digital zoom get grainy in any situation where you don’t have full bright sun out.-Auto focus often hunts, once again amateurish footage.-If you point the camera in the bright blue sky to film birds or etc, there are slim white halos in the image.-Active tracking mode is below average and misses more than it hits.-Slow motion footage is cropped.-The gimbal often gets lost if you move it sideways and down and you have to reset it.-You have to snap another bottom plastic piece to get a tripod mount, then the usb connection is blocked.-No external mic input where the lower priced competition has it. They want you to spend more for the creator package.-Battery life also trails some of the lower priced competition.Overall, very disappointing, and lacking in key areas that are crucial to getting quality video footage.

    A Frustrating Experience: User-Unfriendly Camera

I recently purchased this camera, and I have to say it has been one of the most user-unfriendly devices I’ve ever encountered. The screen is tiny, about half the size of a matchbox, and navigating it feels like a labyrinth. You’re constantly sliding left, right, up, and down just to access various submenus, which adds to the frustration.Connecting it to my phone didn’t help either. I expected a straightforward, mirror-like menu that would make syncing with my phone a breeze, but it was far from that. After ten days of struggling, I couldn’t even capture a single frame due to the camera’s complexity.I turned to YouTube for guidance, hoping to find someone who could demystify this camera. While I found numerous videos showcasing what the camera can do, none of them really explained how to get started. I even reached out to the company, and they directed me to their YouTube channel, which didn’t provide the basics I needed. To my surprise, there was some information in the camera’s menu, but it was in Chinese and not user-friendly at all. Playback was a nightmare, too.In desperation, I visited a Samy Camera store in Los Angeles, hoping they could teach me. Their response was disheartening: “You need to ask a 14-year-old; this is kid stuff.” Even they couldn’t assist me.In the end, I decided to return the camera. I found it not only hard to use but also frustratingly assumed that users are already drone experts or possess an extensive background in camera operation. The company needs to remember that the average consumer, who hasn’t purchased a digital camera since 2010 thanks to smartphones, needs a simpler and more user-friendly experience.

great camera for filmmakers or quick photographer / journalist.. battery life only bad part

great little steady cam . so many great uses . but need to get many accessories at large cost if added up to use to best ability. Be sure to buy a extra battery grip for long-term lapses. The battery within the camera will only last for 2 to 3 hours and the camera has a 5 hour option that you cannot use without having an external battery.

Sadly this device forces you to use your location setting in order to operate it.

So this is a device made by a company that wants to data mine you. I preordered this and was pretty excited to get it because of everything iv read about the first one. I got the device today and set it up, it was not working correctly and I found out you pretty much have to connect it to your phone or you can only use this device 5 times. Yes, they give you a limit to the amount of times you can use a device you paid for. I bought the bundle for 500 dollars and im only allowed to use this device 5 times unless I connect it to my smart phone… okay that leaves a bad taste in my mouth. So once I downloaded the app which is poorly reviewed which you will see on the app store you will see great amount of people who are struggling with the horrible app you are FORCED to use in order to take the 5 time limit away. Well I downloaded the app and then it wanted all of my information EVERYTHING which I said no to and then it just wont let me use the app, it then asks for your location… okay why are you needing my GPS? I am using a video camera that stabilizes …. not liking this one bit.Once I said no to those options it will say you can’t use the app, and just keep asking you to accept. Yep, and there is no way around this that I found. Went to the DJI store forums and people are complaining about this exact problem. I understand if this was a drone and you gotta track it but this is a CAMERA that I CARRY AROUND.This company is one that just wants to raid your information and sell it for a quick buck. Seriously DJI you are horrible and you really should fix this problem. Until then this review will stick.

Great product – No depth variability

The fixed aperture leaves the image with a flat depth to it. If I was using it for projects other than mostly videos of myself talking and house tours for social media, I wouldn’t have kept it. But, I prefer the aperture quality of the iPhone 13 Pro and am going to try out the DJI Gimbal instead.

    Poor design of accessories

We purchased the pocket 2 creator bundle since we are brand new full time rv adventurers and YouTube sharers. We want to love this product but so far there have been several disappointing issues. The primary complaint has been the removable wide angle lens. We’re in our 30s so this isn’t a matter of decreased agility but a complete short coming of the design and functionality. We love the wide angle for most every thing we shoot but fumbling with the magnetic attachment in the case is extra frustrating, especially when we are out with our dogs. Today was the deal breaker for this issue though and I believe we are ready to throw in the towel with this product. While hiking to a beautiful waterfall, I was doing my best to capture the trail and scenery for our channel, but since it was steep and muddy and we had the dogs with us, I didn’t use the wide lens (particularly because the lens doesn’t stay attached while the pocket is stored in its case or a pocket between shots)..Which was disappointing to begin with since it would have been an amazing view to capture with the wide angle. Just as we got to the top, I pulled the pocket out of its case and just as I did, the lens detached from its magnetic holder and fell into the dense leaves below us. We searched but it was gone- impossible to see where we were at. Extremely disappointed and angry at the situation, it ruined the whole moment and we ended up not recording anything else. Furthermore, the wireless mic has been sub par and the device never seems to want to stay connected to the app. Plus the tripod never stays screwed in properly and always seems to be in the way. Overall, the concept is good, but the accessories are lacking functionality and result in a less than adequate product.

Requires a USBC or Lighting port on a phone to activate!

I could not use the camera for a week because I couldn’t activate it. It requires a USBC or Lightning port equipped phone to activate! I have an Android 8 LG V20 with a USBC port so I tried to use that. You can’t download the DJI Mimo app from Google Play, you have to download it from DJI. Once I had the .apk I had no way to install it, clicking on the download launched a camera app to try to install it. Installed a file browser app and was able to use it to install the .apk file. Run the app, try to connect to the device (turned on and plugged into the USBC port) and it can’t find it. I turn off Bluetooth on the phone and try again and it will not try to connect without Bluetooth, despite the fact I’m trying to connect via USB. Tried a new version of the Mimo app a week later, still didn’t work. I have another Android phone but it has a microB USB port and no microB usb adapter is included. Realized I have an old iPad with a lightning port. Was able to install the Mimo app on it (again from DJI, not from App Store). Plugged in the camera using the Lightning adapter. The app pops up a dialog that says the app requires iOS 12, do I want to downgrade the app to a previous version? I choose Yes. Same dialog pops up again, and again, and again. I press cancel because it is obviously not going to try the downgrade. I try to activate the camera. A DJI account is required. I register an account. Success, I activated the camera! Does DJI even have a quality assurance team? Did anyone ever try this procedure at DJI. It is stupidly complex and limited in the devices it will work with. The camera will not even work out of the box without activation! It’s a camera that won’t be a camera until DJI authorizes it! The Mimo app, though it runs on the iPad and will connect to the camera via USB, can’t be used with the camera, because the camera head hits the iPad when it turns. The camera app can only be used with a phone. Again, did anyone ever try this at DJI? What a poor user experience!

Just some head ups for make the perfect purchase.

This product has many 5 stars so you don’t really need another review telling you, just buy it!!…I’m here mostly to strongly recommend you to buy with this product an Portable Charger Power Bank, in my case I got the asin number B078K2YWGJ which is super light and small and it can give you two full charges to this camera, tested!.I use the camera to travel in europe this summer so it was a life saver since the battery life is extremely poor.I also lost the wide lens and one of the phone plugs, they are super loosie on their pouch so maybe you would like to travel with a more effective pouch. I also bought a 256 gb card not an 128 since when travelling you never know when you will be able to put those files on your computer and format the card, 256 give you that freedom to do not care about reaching out your computer every eveningWell, voila my recommendation , 1 power bank, 256 gb card, a good pouch. Oh,…and yes, just buy it!..you will love it.

Not easy to use at all.

I expected more from DJI. The video quality is awesome and the features are great as well. The downfall is the ease of use. Switching modes such as between using the thumb joystick to control pan and tilt to controlling zoom is a bit of a PITA. Especially in bright light. The screen is small and difficult to see in sunlight. Which one might expect from an LCD but this is an action cam designed for outdoors. The biggest short coming IMO is the basic recording. I have pressed the record button only to find that it did not record. This has happened several times. Nothing is more frustrating than going back to look at that awesome footage only to find it’s not there. Gone forever. If you only use it with the phone adapter then you might be able to avoid that. It is a great feature and makes controlling it much easier. However, I just found myself leaving the camera behind because if I was going to have to use my phone for it, I might as well just use my phone by itself. It’s a neat little unit with great potential and if you don’t mind fiddling with it or using it on your phone, Go for it. Like I said the video quality is awesome.
