    Just Plug it In

I got a Series S over black Friday. I figured it was cheaper that the Series X, so I got one. I did not factor in the amount of money I would spend on storage expansion cards. This product is not cheap. I probably could have saved money if I got the Series X, but oh well. It works well and holds my digital games. When I first went to play a game downloaded on the card, a message appeared on the screen saying to reinstall the card in the Xbox because it could not read the card well. I unplugged it and put it back in and it has been working great. My only complaint is the price, but I guess I have 2TB more storage now, well really only 1.8TB, at least that’s what my Xbox showed on the screen.

    Exactly what it is

This storage device is a very basic design but powerful and LOTS of space for games. I wish the 2TB SSD came as an option when first purchasing a Series X but this plugin is perfect.Cost is high, but using it is as easy as plug n’ play. Every gamer should have one of these for lightening fast loading into a game or use the Xbox Quick Resume feature. It is technically 1.8TB, shown immediately after plugging into the back of the console but honestly, 200GB out of 2TB is a tradeoff I’m willing to make.

    Excellent and Fast 2TB Storage

I needed more storage space for my Xbox Series X. I had the 1TB drive already. I wish the back of the console had more spots for these drives. I transferred the XS games from the 1TB drive to a regular had drive that was not SSD. It didn’t take a long time for the transfers, even from the regular hard drive back to the new 2TB SSD drive. When you put the hard drive in the slot, it automatically gets itself ready for use. Name the drive and enjoy!

    Definitely improved loading times!

Ran out of space and was also looking for a performance upgrade, found this. I have all my games saved in the ex drive with nothing on my consoles memory. I can tell you for sure.. loading speeds are quuuick. As far as those frames per second, I honestly can’t tell a difference. I thought for the price I would see a big performance upgrade in graphics but I see it in the loading times. Happy with the purchase just a bit pricey.

A little research paid off big.

Bing nude to the Xbox console and the Xbox union. universe. Overall, one of my main priorities was storage. that seems to be the universal problem with every console these days. I watched some videos and there were some alarming reports of failure for this particular SSD, but. I have had none of those problems. Also, this is the only Xbox. supported SSD that will allow you to play games directly from it rather than reinstalling them and removing them from your console itself when you’re done. Need more than one terabyte.? Go big once, and you won’t be sorry. The Xbox Series X only has one insertion slot on the back as it is so. bigger, as to storage., really is better. Just carefully pop this into the back slot and you’re ready to go. The Xbox will do everything else for you. I still love my PlayStation. But. it can’t get any easier than this for storage expansion. Just follow the on-screen prompts carefully after you insert the drive, and you will be fine. Be sure to remove the plastic protective cap and any stickers prior to insertion. does come with instructions, but it’s really so easy that you almost don’t need them. Keep everything, just in case something does go wrong of course. Have fun!

A necessity that cost way too much.

Let me start by saying this is an excellent device and if you’re a gamer or have more than one person using the Xbox, it’s an actual requirement.Pros – Easy to use (plug and play), lots of space, very fast, necessary for Xbox Series optimized games.Con – Only one con. PRICE! Even though the price has dropped, it’s still far more expensive than it needs to be, especially when you consider that the PS5 has ones that are double this capacity and faster for the same price or this size for far less. (the caveat with the PS5 is that you have to open the case and screw it in whereas this one is literally just plug it in, but hardly worth the extra price). As games get larger, game pass gets even more games and the push for digital over physical media continues, you can’t help but feel gouged by the price on this one. The new prices are much better but far from perfect and after this amount of time, it’s hard to justify that it’s not cheaper to create these and that should be passed to the consumer.

    Expensive but it’s worth it

I would give it 5 stars but, cost a lot money!I bought the 2tb Seagate expansion card for the Xbox Series X. First off. Seagate did a price reduction when Western digital introduced their version of the expansion card at 512gb and 1tb. Western Digital does not have a 2tb version as of 8/31/23. Seagate lower the prices as follow 512gb @$89, 1tb@$149 and 2tb@$279….these are not sale prices, these are the regular prices. If you see it higher than what I listed? You’re getting ripped. We still have 4 to 5yrs of games for Xbox Series S/X. The 2tb will carry you a few yrs depending on your gaming habits, whether you buy day one, buy on sale or on Gamepass. No formatting required, no hoping it works….just plug in and boom…..1.8tb of additional storage. Yes, 2tb comes out to be 1.8tb. Nothing preinstalled, no games or pictures. It’s well worth it but, MS needs to get the prices lower. 2tb at $279 is a lot. Also, you can play Series X/S games straight from the expansion card. No need to transfer games to the internal.

Expensive, proprietary, but nice storage size

I’m somewhat tired of Microsoft’s accessory strategy; everything needs to be proprietary and cost an arm and a leg. Video games are taking up an insane amount of storage space this day in age (looking at you Call of Duty). Anyways, I needed more storage so I could update games and decided on this. Super expensive in comparison to the M.2 drives on the market and the ones Sony uses for their PS5. I get that this is supposed to have been tested and designed for consistent speed, but it just seems like a gimmick. Anyways, super easy to install, gave me a lot more storage space, took a nice chunk out of my bank account, all so I could update a video game.

    Definitely recommend for gamers

If you game on the Series X or S. Definitely recommend. The standard storage isn’t a lot considering how big games are getting. Would be nice to get 10Tb if it was a thing to just be ready for the future but this will do for now

  43. Chris Hamilton

    4.0 out of 5 stars

Went ahead and took the plunge

Ever since these came out I’ve been waiting for price drops. Solid state drives seem to be a lot slower in price reductions than tech in the past, no matter what version they take. This being a licensed product too sure didn’t help that.I wanted to wait for it to go sub-$200, but realistically $250 is about the going rate for a 2 TB solid state drive. All together just under 300 isn’t a terrible deal, just not the greatest. If you have a collection of digital games, you’ll want one of these, or a similar solution, at one point. Games are usually in the ballpark of 50-100 GB, so a 2 TB drive like this here will store around two dozen games, give or take. Modern consoles SHOULD have included drives bigger than 1 TB as a standard, but that’s an argument for another time.No-brainer to install, just follow the pictures on the instruction booklet. The system will recognize it right away, you’ll be off to the races.I have a portable HDD I store my other games on. I’m glad I was able to pick this up to keep all my Series X games so I don’t have to keep moving between hard drives. With the PS5 you can install a separate M.2 drive, and this is the next best thing to that, for close to the same price even.

    Just works

This is one of those little pleasures in life – something that works the way it’s described it should. OK, I’ve seen comments it’s expensive, because “all” it is is a 2TB plug-in SDD, about the size of a box of matches. Sure, in consideration of other drives of this cappacity, it is expensive, but it was designed pretty much to do what it does; extend the storage capacity of an Xbox One X. It does that in spades.Too, having upgraded a PS5, I can tell you this is a little like plugging in a thumb drive (the PS5 is an internal upgrade, and is much more fiddly). There’s a slot at the back of the Xbox One X (clearly marked for expansion), so like a thumb drive, just plug it in and forget about it. Well, you have to go into your system settings and tell the XBox One X where to load games to, but that’s a doddle.Mine was delivered very quickly (a week earlier than originally planned), and it took me longer to get the drive out of the box than it did to plug it in and turn on the Xbox One X.I can’t comment on tech support, because I’ve not had to bother. My tester was to load “Starfield” (so 55gb), which worked a dream, no sign of lag or anything, so I’m really pleased.I’d recommend this to anyone wanting to get larger storage options for their Xbox One X.I live in Europe, but bought mine from Amazon US because this drive is not readily or regularly available in Europe, and I saw one company selling it over here at double the price Amazon US was asking.

    Storage/speed

This product does exactly what it’s supposed to do.Gives you an ample amount of storage. But you should know that the storage amount that is stated. Is not the actual amount of (USABLE) storage you will have. But other than that. And of course the price. The price is ridiculous !But it does work as it should. And it reads/writes data fast.If you’re like me and my kid who needed more game storage…. it’s I guess worth it.But yeah it’s hard to swallow the price of these extra storage parts, lol.If it weren’t for the price I would definitely give it a five-star rating. It’s very solid, fast, and it works as it should.

Truly plug and play! Just plug it in and it’s ready.

All I had to do was unbox the thing and plug it is. My Xbox Series S immediately recognized it and I could start installing games. I could even moves games installed from the internal storage to the external one super easily. Highly recommended!

    Still Expensive But Worth It

The file sizes of modern games coming out now are ridiculously large. Even more so with updates and dlc. I can currently hold seven games on the internal storage of my Series X because of how large the file sizes are for most of them. I knew I would need more storage as I do play a lot of games and don’t like having to constantly delete games from storage and then redownload them when I want to play them. When I saw that the price went from $400 to $280, I decided to get this as I know there might be new games I will get in the future that will have large file sizes. When it comes to the Seagate expansion cards, I consider these to be the luxury hotels of external gaming storage. If you want to store a lot of Series X/S games and be able to play them without having to constantly transfer back and forth between internal storage and the expansion device, then this is worth it for people who want that connivence. My only real complaint is that you only get 1.8 Terabytes of usable storage instead of the full two terabytes. There are other options for those who are on a budget or don’t need conveniences. It is possible to get a one terabyte version for those who want something a little cheaper and who don’t quite need 1.8 terabytes. People can also get the cheaper SSDs and HDDs and store their previous generation games on those while reserving the internal storage for current Series X/S games or just transfer the games they are currently playing to the internal storage while keeping other X/S games on the SSD or HDD for safekeeping. I am only making a note of this because there are many options for people to have more storage for their games based on their budgets and personal preferences.
