HD-OPTICS

Swarovski trademark HD optics feature fluoride-containing lenses, which virtually eliminate color aberrations. The scatter is considerably less with fluoride than with even the best types of optical glass. This enables maximum color fidelity and leads to a significant improvement in resolution and contrast.

    Rolls Royce of Birding Binoculars

My husband & I refer to these as the RR, cuz it’s true. (“Where is the RR, honey?”) except I say much faster, when I see a hawk circling my house. and you think I’m kidding? I’ll never go back. Now I need a spotting scope.

    Beautifully clear and precise

I have an old pair of Swarovskis but these are even clearer and the focusing easier and more precise. An outstanding pair of binoculars in every way.

    Incredible!

I don’t feel as if I am looking through binoculars. The image is so real it’s as if I’m up in the trees with the birds. I upgraded from Vortex Razor which is a fantastic binocular.

    Optically arguably the very best.

I purchased a Nikon Premier LXL 8 x 42 in 2006 ( not from Amazon ). At the time, better birding considered it one of their top choices. Cost at that time $1100. Fast forward I saw that some $400 was being taken off the well regarded Swarovski 8.5 x 42 mm in late 2023. I decided to purchase these after having compared them with my Nikon and the other 2 top contenders ( Leica Noctovid and the Zeiss Victory FL ). Here are my findings. Firstly the Leica is the most compact and the best mechanically. It feels like it will last decades easily and still be a family heir loom. The Zeiss is the least compact, lightest and to my finding at least the one mechanically least well put together. Now let me clarify that I am speaking relatively. This is not to say the Zeiss is poorly constructed. Far from it. The Swarovski is in between the Leica and Zeiss in size and build.Optically to my eyes, I would rate it as the Swarovski the best, very close behind is the Zeiss with the Leica in 3 rd place. The Leica suffers from a slight fall off in the image sharpness at the very edges of the field but has perhaps the best contrast in the image center. The image is slightly biased to warmer tones. A very slight level of chromatic aberration is just noticeable on very high contrast subjects. Does this mean it’s the worst performer optically ? It’s a matter of personal preferences. The Zeiss has a more uniform field and the color rendition is less warm. The Swarovski has the flattest field by a hair and a very color neutral rendition. Image contrast too is excellent maybe slightly reduced compared to the Leica at the very center. Other factors to consider if purchasing. Do you like the placement of controls, the forward to rear balance which can play a part in how steady one can hand hold the binocular. Do you prefer a focus knob that has a short or longer throw to obtain best focus. Best check these trade offs by doing your own evaluation before purchasing. In my case I felt the Swarovski EL to be the best overall optically and mechanically while maybe not quite up to Leica standards was close behind. They are known to have amongst the best after sales support in the industry too, so when I saw there was a $400 price reduction in late 2023, bringing the price before tax at another vendor to just under $2000, the choice was easy. Something to note, however, Swarovski introduced the NL Pure 3 yrs back. It features an even wider field of view, although the price is closer to $3000. I compared them against the El. Optically very similar. I could not rationalize paying an extra $1000. Finally how does my 17 yr old top of the line Nikon with ED glass compare to the more modern Swarovski with Fluoride glass and optimized coatings. I would say in the daytime the view is noticeably clearer, with colors being brighter and the color rendition closer to natural. At night I can see that the image is noticeably brighter in the Swarovski, details in the shadows more easily being seen. Turning both on astronomical objects such as the moon and Jupiter. It’s readily apparent Jupiters 4 moons seen as pinpricks of light are more easily picked up in the Swarovski. The edges of the moon too show almost zero chromatic abberation.

    Overpriced

For what they are, and what they don’t include (no case and no conventional strap), the Leupold BX-5 Santium or even the BX-4 Pro Guide binoculars are a far better value. These are WAY overpriced.I had to laugh at the birdie users who rate these so highly. I’m a career military officer who used binoculars for decades under the toughest conditions and there’s no way this glass would be my first choice.Good image quality? YesRugged? MehWeight? Incredible view!

I did not purchase my EL 10×42 Swarovskis from Amazon but wanted to include my thoughts here. I am not a pro or an expert so I’m just going to provide my overall impression. I’ve had many brands of binoculars and I use them for birding and general observation at my home. Prior to the Swarovskis I used a pair of Zeiss Conquest HD 10x42s.My first impression looking through the new binos was “WOW!”. The clarity, brightness and detail of the image was far and above anything I’d seen before. As I said I’m not a technician so I’m sure some will point to this detail or that degree of usability vs many other alternatives. My best description of these binos is simply that looking through them is not like looking through some manufactured product. It is , for me, like looking at an object and seeing it magnified- as if you were just looking with your own eyes and no mechanical enhancer. That’s how realistic the image is.They are not inexpensive but I think they represent a good value.

    Strap comes off.

The optics are excellent, but the strap spontaneously disconnected from the binoculars three times. Swarovski says they will repair, but I have to pay shipping and insurance for an item whose value is around $2500.

    Stunning Optics

25 years ago I bought the very best binoculars I could possibly find for my use. That is, primarily hunting Texas Whitetail, pigs, turkey, and an occasional antelope, mule deer, and elk hunt. I spend a lot of time in timber in low light. Im often in the woods an hour before daylight and seldom come out before 45 min after sunset. I bought the Swarovski 7×42 SLC B and they have served me so well for so long, I never even thought about getting another pair until recently. Their light gathering, clarity, and field of view is amazing. I’ve never used any binoculars that I thought were better. But after 25 years of exceptional usage, I wanted something with a little more magnification.I have other Swarovski products and they are all exceptional. After much research, I opted for the 8.5×42 EL. Thinking the light gathering would be close to my 7X’s and still give me a little more magnification, but not so much where they would be too difficult to hold steady. Here’s my impressions for the 8.5×42 EL. I didn’t expect them to surpass my already high expectations I have based in my other Swarovski optics , but they do. The light gathering is even better than my 7x42SLC B. I’m sure it’s because of the advancements in glass and coatings over the years. But I can distinguish details 10 minutes longer in the evening with the ELs than I can with my older SLC Bs, and I’ve never hunted with anyone who had better optics than my SLC Bs. I was a little concerned about the smaller field of view with the 8.5s, BUT, what I’ve found is that with the incredible fielder flattener and edge to edge clarity and sharpness, my eyes can explore the entire field of view more easily and I don’t have to pan as much to move objects towards the center. These binoculars are amazing. Well built, stunning optics that are comfortable to hold. The diopter adjustment is well thought out, ease adjust, and lock in place. The suspension system is great. I will use the strap for daily carry, but will usually use a harness system while hunting with the addition of the bino guard pro. I called Swarovski and they are sending me longer pins for free to accommodate that set up. The eye cups are top of the line. The price? Oh my gosh, these were quite expensive for me and my pocketbook, but I expected the best as they are Swarovski, And my expectations were exceeded. I can’t imagine ever needing to buy another set of binoculars in my lifetime.

A great pair of binoculars, backed up by a bullet-proof factory warranty

We didn’t buy these from Amazon, but we want Amazon customers to know that Swarovski’s legendary reputation for good design and outstanding service is still intact. After five years of heavy and very enjoyable use in the USA and on 19 guided international birding trips, my 10 x 42 ELs are still going strong and they look almost new (see the picture). I say “almost” because I fell on them while running at full speed up a set of flagstone steps in a Thai botanical garden. The Swaros took the full force of my fall as they hit solidly on the edge of a flagstone, spreading the force of the fall (I weigh 180 lbs.) over an 8″ square of the front of my rib-cage and saving several of my ribs from being broken. They continue to work flawlessly, but now have a deep scratch on the front hinge between the left and right halves of the bins. I’ll deal with it.You may note in the photo that I use non-standard front lens covers and strap-attachment fittings. These were not very durable on my 5-year-older model. Swarovski has listened to its customers’ suggestions and introduced much better strap-attachment fittings and has modified the front lens caps, making them much harder to lose (new ones cost $22/pair and I got tired of replacing them). As for Swarovski’s warranty service, my wife’s 8 x 32 EL Swarovski binoculars, also heavily used over the last five years, had the green rubber exterior shock coating looking a bit worn. We returned them to Swarovski’s Rhode Island office and got them back in under three weeks. Not only were the bins given a new external rubber coating, but they were given new eye cups, had the focus mechanism repaired (we hadn’t even noticed whatever problem they fixed) and were realigned, all for free. Swarovski really does stand solidly behind its products and we highly recommend them to you.

THE BEST Binoculars I have ever looked through!

I bought these binoculars as a present for my wife. We are avid outdoors people, birders and hunters and appreciate the clarity, functionality, and quality of these top shelf binoculars. The engineers at Swarovski though of everything in designing and producing these binoculars. Everything is smooth and tight from the eyepiece adjustments to the focus nob to the hinge. The carry strap system is highly engineered, but simple and secure. And the ergonomics are exceptional. My wife absolutely overs them and we are looking forward to using them on future birding adventures. They are expensive, but worth every penny!

At last, I can bird without shame

I have been lusting after a pair of these forever. As all birders will tell you, when you meet a fellow birder, they will look down at your torso and not at your face. Yes, we all judge each other on our bins and you are lying if you claim you don’t. Now, with my classic Swarovskis, I can bird without shame. They are also amazing bins, of course. They are incredibly sharp and bright. No “irritating” rings or outlines to be found (as the very German manual describes it). The focus mechanism is smooth and your settings stay in place. They are so so much better than my old Nikon Monarchs, although I couldn’t tell you how these fare against other expensive bins. However, as practically every guide and serious birder has these hanging from their neck, it’s hard to imagine how you could go wrong. They are heavy so you will want a proper harness vs. the neck strap. Also, they don’t come with a protective carrying case, which I found super odd considering how much they cost. Swarovskis sell cases for like $100 which is obscene so I ended up buying a case (Ekeskey 50mm) on Amazon for $15 which is perfect for protection if you tend to just toss your bins into your backpack as I do.

No adapter for other harnesses in box

Swarovski binoculars are awesome. No doubt. But to include a small brush and some soap, and NOT the adaptor for normal binocular harnesses is ridiculous. I bought this for daughter for a hunting trip after Christmas, and the box did not have a $5 adaptor! Just sad. I looked through the entire box and did not find it. If it is in the box hidden and is hidden in some obscure pocket, I apologize. Just frustrating that these expensive binoculars only came with their proprietary harness system. Seems ridiculous to me, but I just wish they would have included this simple piece as a part of their include options. At the minimum, they should tell the consumer they need it if using Sitka/Kuiu or other harness systems.

Everything they’re cracked up to be

Got these for my wife to try bird watching where details matter and I was skeptical but they are unreal. You can see such detail that my $500 Zeiss hunting binos did not deliver. I went 8x as a good all around option with good field of view, light and not shaky – figuring these are lifetime binos and want them to be useful when we’re old and less steady. They’re a great option if you can justify the extremly high cost.

Wife wanted clear optic binoculars for bird watching. Wife was very impressed with a friends Swarovski 10x binoculars while watching elk and has always wanted a pair for her bird watching. I’ve always wanted a pair of these but just couldn’t spend the money. I finally did and I’m absolutely amazed. I should have done it years ago! If I Could Rate The Swarovski EL 8.5 x 42 Binos a TEN They Would Deserve It!

I cannot stress enough how happy these binos have made me. I used them in low light for birding for the past two years at least three times a week. The extremely high quality of construction, lenses, and color rendition is beyond anything I have ever used. When I compare these Swarovski 8.5 x 42 EL to my Zeiss 8 x 42 Victory SF and can discern better flatness of field, detail and color rendition with the Swarovski EL’s. Believe me, both of these binos are outstanding but I think the Swarovski’s have an edge for what that’s worth. I have never had any problems with the neck strap coming loose nor any issues whatsoever. These are as good as it gets IMHO.

Field Pro is for me an Oh No-4th time back to the factory.

Have to change my glowing review of this binocular after a few years of ownership. I have had to return them to the factory now for the 4th time. 2 problems with the attachment of the strap. The little buttons don’t stay put. The entire button holder pulled out. The buttons need to be glued in place. They pop our and I’ve nearly lost it overboard on a boat trip. Or they require a vice grip to remove. I’ve had 2 fogging incidents of a supposedly waterproof design. I’ve had 2 broken focus issues. They always get repaired for free but that does not include the shipping with insurance that I have now had to do 4 times. My older models are work horses. Never any issues. Still the views are amazing. It’s like Dorothy seeing OZ for the first time. The colors just pop. You see animals that are not there with your Nikon Monarch. My only complaint is the quality. You don’t always get what you pay for. An now a 8 week turn around time unless you bribe Swarovski extra blood money. I’m here looking at Vortex.

These are F*#%ing amazing. I’ve been using Nikon’s for years

I’ve been using Nikon’s for years, but I am completely bowled over by these Swarovski binocs. Birder here. Was hesitant, as they are costly, but I am SO GLAD I bot these. Not from Amazon, but same price as Amazon. PS, the focus wheel feels like there is sand in it, since purchased, annoying, and the lens cap fell off, will be sending these in for service. More after customer service experience.

    Literally easy on the eyes

I made the mistake of looking through my brother’s pair. Limpid liquidity. Eyestrain be gone! They’re ridiculously expensive and I admit they’re worth it if you have the spare change.

    Best of the best

Absolutely thrilled with these binoculars. If you can get past the astronomical price point, these are the best on the market, bar none.

    Great glasses

These are fantastic in low light. Images are crisp clear and render beautiful color. Even with backlit subjects I am seeing colour where with other field glasses I cannot. My only complaint is that you can adjust the eye relief by rotating the eye-pieces. One of mine is quite sticky and I’ve cleaned it a couple times and it still sticks. I may send in for repair.I bought these for birding and they offer a decent field of view and stunning images.

Ces jumelles sont dispendieuses, mais elle en valent la peine.

Observation d’oiseaux! Ces jumelles sont tout simplement extraordinaires en ce qui concerne la netteté, la luminosité et l’ergonomie bien sûr.

Price is not justified with the quality.

The heavy weight was a negative factor
