    Great buy

Excellent value for the dollar. Easy set up. Only downside is a slight rattle at high volume

    Sounds awesome

Music sounds awesome; high quality sound for such a minimal investment. You can also easily change between settings (inputs) with the remote for different connections or to make it a blue tooth speaker with your phone. For these reasons, I would but again in a heart beat and highly recommend it.However, at least in our room with a tall 18’ high open ceiling, using the speaker for movies makes following speech less clear. For this reason, we do not use the speaker when watching movies; we keep it on the Tv volume.

Quality Sound and Easy to Use

Nice soundbar with very good sound quality. Preset equalizer settings make it easy to adjust to type a program you’re watching. Plus you can manually change equalizer if you want. Connected to my TV automatically without going with a bunch of steps.

    Ideal family room sound bar

This model is just the right sound bar with built-in subwoofer, easy to install on the wall and quick to set up. Another make we tried was loud at lowest setting volume through bluetooth, but with this we could reduce volume way down for quiet listening. Plus features like EQ, Mute and BASS, multiple input options and voice acknowledgment when switching input make this model worth its cost. Sound is great, making music and movies that much more enjoyable from any device.

    Good value, good speakers

I bought this sound bar to go with a new TV. I’ve had an older Polk soundbar for years now but I wanted something with speakers to go behind me on both sides of the couch. I can definitely tell a difference between this soundbar and my old one. During professional sporting events or while video gaming, I hear ambient noises (e.g., crowds cheering at the football game) coming from the back speakers, which is a neat effect. I would recommend this sound bar to others.

    Great Sound. Strong bass.

Let me start out by saying this is an early review, I’ve only had this Soundbar for about a week. So any long term issues would be marked with an *update*.The sound is incredible. The settings have a lot of options for tweeking the sound to your liking. I found the installation very simple. I chose to walk mount and the screw guide was very useful. Also useful was the fact that the wall mount holes (plug holes) are spaced 16.5 inches apart so it was possible to hit two wall studs for mounting. I don’t know if it was better to hit studs or if it would be better to use some sheet rock anchors due to the extreme bass. I am dueley mounted to studs and I have to have my bass turned all the way down because it’s so deep it rattles the whole wall. Some people like the bass, and maybe it’s not so bad when resting on a platform or entertainment center. I don’t find this to be a reason to write a poor review, I turn the bass down all the way and everything is fine. The VRT:X button makes a really big difference in sound as does the TVOL. The Soundbar indicates when these features are on with 5 or so lights, off with zero lights. When I turn them off the sound is still fine but it is nowhere near as “high def” or “3D” we will call it. It just sounds so much better. If I turn off these features, I don’t have the bass issues, but I’d rather have it on and turn the bass all the way down. I have it installed using the HDMI (arc) input on my TV with my NVIDIA Shield hooked to the TV. Some content will play in Dolby Atmos, that content is briefly displayed on the Soundbar with one single light for about 5 seconds to indicate it will be playing the sound for that content in Atmos.Overall I am very satisfied with the Soundbar. Didn’t seem to have any issues. Some of the reviews I have seen are not for the Vizio sound bar that is for sale, be sure to follow reviews that are correct. I’ve seen some negative reviews for this product but are for a Soundbar that is not this product. I am very happy with it. 4 stars for the super deep bass issues.

Didn’t seem to have the whole surround sound

Bought this to replace our original surround sound, that’s also a Vizio. Though this would be good, since it had no extra speakers, and out puppy had eaten one of the wires to the old one. Not the reason we were getting a new one.Now unfortunately after receiving the new one, and calling Vizio. Who I will say I have unfortunately called a few times over the years for things, but the good part, they have always been extremely helpful and he stayed on the line with me. Trying to make the unit act up. While it would now and then, he never could completely firgure out the issues, it was cutting in and out. He had me how it up a different way than the HDMI cable, and it work fine. Now after getting off the phone, we thought about a few things he said, and put our old one back up and hooking it up the same way for it to work correctly again. So we returned this one. This issue has to be in the TV, for both to act up the same, and be fixed the same way.We probably would have keeper it, but as I said it did not have the same surround sound we like, with the build in subwoofers in the bar, they don’t project enough. We’re are old one had the little speakers you put behind you. So we decided to return it, and go back to our old one.

    Value for your money

I paid just $130 for this sound bar and the sound quality just blew me away. Such crisp, bass sound (they have sub woofers built in). I installed this for my daugther’s apartment and she absolutely loves it. The blue tooth connection is pretty good. It also has an eARC cable that came with it. Plus wall brackets/mount and guide template to install the mounts it in the box. You cannot go wrong with this. I paired this with an LG 50″ and the quality of surrond sound from movies including the awesome bass was just mindblowing.

Worked great so I bought another!

I needed to improve the sound of the terrible factory TV speakers on our living room TV. I also didn’t want to mess with wires for remote rear and side speakers. The Vizio M-Series All-in-One 2.1 (M213ad-K8) was exactly what I was looking for. It sits low and wide in front of the TV and delivers room filling sound from its built in six speakers. It worked so well that I purchased another for my parent’s TV. They always complained that they couldn’t hear the voices on their flat screen TV. Now they compliment the TV sound every time I visit. I have since recommended this system to multiple friends.

    Easy Peasy

I bought the 5.1.2 Immersive for my LG C2 OLED to use in my bedroom. I read at least 40 reviews on Amazon and I was fairly worried that I would hit, at least, some snags in connectivity, dialogue volume or audio/video sync delay. I’m happy to report that not one problem occurred in those areas. I just plugged in the correct HDMI cables to the correct ports and also the color coded wires for the satellite speakers. Turned it on and EVERYTHING worked perfectly. I didn’t have to calibrate anything. On the remote is an option for a speaker test too. Really sounds great and the surround sound is theatre-like. Not too sure about the height being particularly noticable but the system sound passed my skepticism. One thing I noticed when trying to decide between this model and the 5.1.2 Elevated model is there’s a 5.1.4 Elevated model that was a possible choice when clicking on the 5.1.2 Elevated. I could swear that option wasn’t available before but I could of just missed it or, for some reason, it was made available for Black Friday (which totally made my decision to try this model and the resulting outcome, so much sweeter). The remote has many options to adjust about anything. You don’t get the option for each speaker but you can adjust the volume of the centers, subwoofer, overall surround sound, dialogue, etc. Still experimenting with the EQ presets of Movie, Music, Night Mode, etc. Some reviewers complained the remote isn’t the brightest but if you hold it closer it’s fine.🙄 There’s a Input button that is for the eARC port or HDMI In or USB. While using one, say HDMI In for your disc player, you have to press the input button again if you shut off the unit or disc player. Even if you haven’t changed the input port being used. No biggie. When selecting programs on TV there’s a short delay for the audio to sync to the video. No biggie. Taking advantage of Black Friday was no doubt awesome but I would purchase this unit regardless.

    Constant no audio issue

Been plagued with an issue where no sound coming out of HDMI e-ARC. You will have to unplug the power and wait a few minutes then plug powercord back in. It is getting kinda annoying. The audio quality is okay for a soundbar, but you do have the benefit of the wireless subwoofer and two satellite speakers. The remote controller is not helpful, and I wish they had an app or something. Switching audio source is a pain, you need to do it slowly and wait for the speaker to announce then move onto the next option until you get to the audio source you want.Think I also have the latest firmware and you need to upgrade using a USB drive.

    Nice all in one

This is a nice solution for a medium size room. Its also nice if you’re trying for a minimalist setup as there are no additional speakers or sub. The hdmi arc plug and play setup was very easy too. Bass is ok, not booming.

ARC HDMI is what is happening!

Tech reviews on (tube) where great. I have a 3 year old Samsung Smart 55″ w/ARC HDMI. The bar hook up couldn’t have been easier. Out of the box sound is excellent for my space. I have not used the bluetooth function/ online music, movies, dvd all so far are upgraded through this sound bar!.

Excellent sounding and easy to use

I bought two of these soundbars for two different TVs. One of the TVs is older and needed to be connected using a digital optical cable, which was included and the other TV had an HDMI AQR connection. In both cases installation was really easy and the soundbar sounds superb. For the first time, music doesn’t just sound flat and tinny on my TV and I can understand people speaking much better than previously. There is a bright blue LED light on the back of the separate woofer. It turns off when you turn off the soundbar with the remote, but if you forget to do that separately (when using the digital optical connection), then that LED might shine all night, disturbing your sleep. I wish there was a setting which just suppressed the LEDs so they were off all the time. Another minor complaint is that there is a little lcd screen on the remote and it does not show a number when you hit the volume up or down buttons. It would be nice to have a number, so you know what volume you are set to. These are minor complaints though. Altogether I think this is a great soundbar!!!!

    Wall installation?

Installed flush against the wall using the supplied plastic “feet”. But unless this thing has gyro sensors and reconfigures things for this orientation (it doesn’t I’m sure), I don’t see how the atoms vertical spatial audio will work as designed, because this orientation puts the vertically tilted speakers ok an angle aiming more at the floor, and the forward angled speakers are aimed directly at the floor. So I am likely going to take this off the wall and make a small floating shelf below the TV so this will face the way it was designed to face. Will update.

    Wow, not regretting this purchase.

You can tell it is excellently built, sound is clean. Improves the sound on my TV. It TV goes from something sounding like a “tin can” to me, to something with depth. A simple 2.1 + subwolfer but immersed in sound quality.

Good Sound Quality, But Google Assistant Features Fall Short

One of the main reasons I purchased this sound bar was because it advertised to “work seamlessly with voice assistant”. So naturally, I was under the impression this sound bar could be an extension to a Google nest mini (which they advertise that exact product in their videos) and the voice assistant responses would come through the sound bar itself. Sounds perfect right!? Well after a bunch of fiddling around with the unit, it turns out this information is WRONG. While the unit does come with a built-in AUX dedicated to Voice Assistant devices, most Google Assistant products lack an AUX output, leaving them solely reliant on Bluetooth.Regrettably, the Voice Assistant responses fail to function over Bluetooth. It will carry out commands like playing music however the Bluetooth connection itself proves to be unstable and frequently drops out. Moreover, if you have multiple google nest speakers grouped together, there is a noticeable lag that arises between this soundbar and the surrounding speakers. In the end, this basically renders the feature practically useless if you are trying to integrate this soundbar into your Google Home. When it comes to sound quality, this soundbar delivers an impressively wide sound stage and robust bass, especially considering its compact size. It significantly enhances audio quality compared to standard TV speakers, making it a great option for apartment living where a separate subwoofer might disturb downstairs neighbors.Overall I do enjoy the unit for enhancing the audio experience on the TV. But I do feel a sense of being mislead with the “Seamless Voice Assistant Integration” feature and wish they would have stated that more clearly. In the end this is a decent quality soundbar however unless you have a smart speaker that has an AUX output, I wouldn’t count on the “Seamless Voice Assistant Integration” feature working for you.

Sounds great, Dolby Atmos, but you can only crank it but so loud.

This is a great gateway Dolby Atmos soundbar for a small to medium-sized living room. Sounds great with music and movies and the built-in Dolby Atmos gives a nice height effect up front. I love the fact that once I set it for direct (i.e. no special sound profiles), I could put the soundbar’s remote away and operate the whole thing from my TV remote.Took off one star because in my 16×20 living room, you can only crank it but so far before the sound starts distorting slightly. You can still watch action movies at an entertaining level, just don’t expect this system to rattle the floors and windows the way a high-end home theater system might.

Great product for the relatively low cost

Its worth the $350 I paid. Ive heard all kinds of hifi sound products and ive heard expensive sound systems, including a sonos surround system. This system is not at the same level as the sonos but that system was probably over $1,000. This system makes watching movies as satisfoactrily immersive and is probably the best purchase to make if you are using the speakers out of the TV. I did notice that voices sounded a bit too quite compared to other sounds, but that could probably be fixed with EQ. The bass wont rattle your seat, but it is plently. The higher frequencies exsist, and do not bother my 20-year old ears. This is probably the best product for home audio at $350.

    A Great Purchase

I’ve been getting by with the internal speakers from my 5-year-old 55″ LG TV, or sometimes using the optical audio output to my $1000 Yamaha stereo amp, but I thought I could do better for my apartment. I selected the Vizio soundbar and subwoofer based on reviews and mostly the price…many other soundbars from Sony, Sonos, Bose and others are north of $500 and I paid just $225 for the well-reviewed Vizio system. I unpacked it, assembled it according to instructions and hooked it up to my TV’s HDMI/ARC output…I just turned on the power all around and it automatically configured itself, I didn’t have to change a single setting on my TV or the soundbar…it’s got a microchip brain that does that on its own. The sound quality is good but not outstanding…though the box and description say that it’s Dolby Atmos/Dolby DTS-X you should be aware that it’s not actually Dolby Atmos but only a “virtual” Atmos version that supports the Atmos sound codex…for true Atmos you’ll require at least seven speakers mounted above, below and to the sides of your TV. If you’ve been spoiled by true Dolby Atmos you might be disappointed with the Vizio, but then you won’t be out an additional $1,500 (minimum) to $3,000 or more (and challenged to position 7-9 speakers). It does the job handling any type of input…With Atmos and DTS-X signals the voices seem to travel across the screen and the bass rumbles, plus it’s completely backwards-compatible so it doesn’t matter what type of audio you feed it. There are three versions of this soundbar–one for Dolby Digital, one for Dolby Atmos/DTS-X (with subwoofer) and a third for Dolby 5.1 with three speakers in addition to the soundbar. I did thorough homework, went for the soundbar/subwoofer Virtual Atmos version and I’m convinced it’s the best solution for me, since neither my TV or separate amp support Dolby 5.1 to 9.2…you require a TV with an E-ARC (enhanced) port to take advantage 0f 5.1. For just over 200 bucks, this puppy is an impressive improvement to my entertainment system. If you’ve been limited to your TV’s internal speakers or a 2-channel stereo output, you should be pleased with the Vizio. But of course if you’ve got an extra 5 grand just taking up space in your wallet, by all means invest in a true Atmos system.

    Great sound!

This system packs a nice punch of immersive sound for my living room. Surround sound is great. Main soundbar is LOUD (you can adjust it independently to your own needs). The subwoofer kicks in for those booming scenes and the rear speakers are light in weight (sit nicely on speaker stands) and provide surround sound for the complete immersive experience. Very happy so far with this sound system.

Wow, Great Improvement From My Other Vizio Soundbar

My previous sounbar was a Vizio M51-aH6. I was never really happy with it. The best way to put it is that the sound was fairly dull and papery, the bass too loud even turned down and it seemed muddy. Definitely not immersive or expansive. I decided to get the M512-aH6 after reading lots of positive reviews and the fact that it had a couple upfiring speakers for Atmos. I got it today, plugged it all in and turned on some P*nk Flo*d Dark Side of the Moon. Honestly, for the small difference in cost, this soundbar beats the old soundbar in every measure. It’s early yet, but I can tell that this was the right buy. I traded a buddy the M51 for a grill, which likely saved me the cost of the M12. Movie night!

Great choice if you don’t want a separate subwoofer

I was genuinely surprised by the fullness of the sound generated by this soundbar. I purchased it to use outdoors with a portable projector, but it really surprised me and now I’m considering using it to replace my current Samsung HW-S50A, even though that one has a dedicated sub and rear speakers. It is the perfect soundbar for someone who does not want or have space for a separate subwoofer. The bass is deep but also very well controlled (no rattles) and can actually be felt, which is hard to accomplish without a separate sub.Although there is no dedicated center channel, it sounds as though there is one. Voices are crystal clear and distinct.Connectivity is great, as it has HDMI input and output, meaning you can hook up a streaming device directly to the soundbar and free up an HDMI port on the TV or eliminate clutter behind the TV. I use it in conjunction with an HDMI transmitter/receiver to place the soundbar and streaming stick under the projector screen and connect wirelessly to the projector about 10 feet away. The simulated surround sound feature is probably the only thing that fell short for me, as I just did not sense anything more than directional sound coming from the front. That being said, the sound does fill the room, so although it is not directional it is still very immersive. There is no discernible distortion at max volume.I can’t imagine there is anything better at this price point or in this form factor.

    Good price

This is a good soundbar for the price but nothing special. Good value for the money, have it connected via Bluetooth to my TV. Subwoofer also small and unobtrusive and the bass on that is okay, particularly when playing music.

Disappointed in the subwoofer. Lacks the punchy bass I was expecting.

Doesnt put out the smooth bass I was expecting. I have a 2.1 vizio soundbar with subwoofer that actually sounds better than the 5.1. I toyed with all of the settings but still not getting satisfactory sound from the subwoofer. Wish there was a way I could use the sunwoofer from the 2.1 system with the surround sound of the 5.1 system.

    Great For The Price

This thing has no business sounding this good, given what it costs. It is a tremendous value for a simple, home theater audio in a box solution. Now the “good for what it costs” part is important. It doesn’t break the laws of physics, you can certainly spend more and get more, but the little dedicated subwoofer really does a solid job in compensating for the relatively small speakers in the main unit. It also gets surprisingly loud for its size without introducing meaningful distortion. Are you going to put this thing in a giant, dedicated home theater or a huge great room with a cathedral ceiling and be happy with the results? Probably not. But in a bedroom, an apartment or an average-sized living room or den, this is likely going to give you results you are happy with for both movies and most casual listening. When you give it a workout across a bunch of different genres of music, you find the results vary between adequate and excellent. There are some basic physics reasons behind why you normally need much bigger speakers to get truly excellent high fidelity sound. So occasionally the results are a bit flat and uninspired. But it does a pretty remarkable job for what it cost and how big it is. What you will notice if you listen with a very critical ear is that there is some muddiness in the mid-range and the bass rolls off too early because the little sub runs out of steam, but that almost seems unfair to criticize at this price point. Most people won’t even notice any of that.On the other hand, don’t get super excited about the strength of the Dolby Atmos effects here. Atmos is designed to create a 3d sound field and place sounds in the physical space around the listener. It is a cool new technology and movies are starting to be mastered in it. Normally that 3d sound effect means you have to have additional channels physically mounted in the ceiling. Like all of these sound bars, it doesn’t have actual ceiling speakers and instead has to make do with pointing some speakers up at the ceiling to bounce the sound off the ceiling indirectly. If you stick it in a basically square or rectangle shaped room with an 8 foot ceiling and no obstructions, it does sort of work. But if you have a cathedral ceiling or sloped ceiling or anything other than the basic box shaped room it likely won’t do much of anything. On the other hand, the more basic, 5.1 surround sound effects are perfectly adequate, assuming you can place the little rear speakers properly.Installation wasn’t hard, although note that there are specific requirements that the system sit in front of and a certain distance below the TV because of the Atmos, up-firing speakers. The rear surrounds connect to the subwoofer with standard speaker wires and the separately powered subwoofer then connects wirelessly to the main unit. The little sub is ported, so it can’t be set absolutely flush against a wall. It all came pre-paired up and worked perfectly right out of the box.I have a modern tv, and was able to connect with eARC/HDMI successfully. I also paired my phone to the device using bluetooth and that worked easily too. I can control the volume with both the TV remote and the Apple TV remote control, and so I will almost never need to use the included remote for much of anything beyond initial setup. There is a reason why this unit got such good reviews on the big audio review channels. It really is a good value for the price.

This soundbar is the new gateway to Dolby Atmos

After doing a lot of product hunting, I was really excited about this soundbar. I almost jumped the gun on a few others, but I’m glad I waited for this one. If you’re looking for an entry soundbar to go in your family room and don’t know what Dolby Atmos is, then I’ll be honest: this is not the home theater setup for you. There are plenty of other systems that perform well for hundreds of $ cheaper, including the Vizio V series line of speakers, which you can also get in 5.1.If you have heard of Atmos or want the newest middle-ground speaker, then this is it. Before you click the “Buy Now” button, make sure you are ready to take advantage of Atmos, though. You’ll want to make sure your TV supports it (if it has eARC label on an HDMI port, then you’re good), the content you’re watching supports it, the device you are using supports it, and that all of your settings are correct across the board (for example some TVs disable ARC by default and this should be enabled). If you have all of those things, then this tops it off. The included HDMI cable is ARC so you can use that to connect the soundbar. Make sure you use the port labeled eARC on the soundbar and the TV. HDMI is the best method, you don’t want to have to use optical if you don’t have to.For my full review:Pros:*All-around sound is great. I’ve watched only a few hours of various types of shows and it does a good job of handling lots of dialogue, or a sporting event, or a highly dramatic scene. You won’t be absolutely blown away, but depending on what you were using before this could be a major game-changer. At the end of the day, it sucks me into the content and that’s all I need.*Left and right speakers have PLENTY of cord length. I didn’t look into it, but I would guess somewhere between 20 to 25 feet of cable for each side speaker and they connect to the sub which is wireless but obviously needs power. One end of each side cable has an L-shaped plug while the other is straight. Make sure you know which one you want to feed through the tube of a speaker stand before setting up so you know where your cable is going to go. Only the straight plug will fit through most stands. Read the manual for setup, but in case you miss it, the blue plug is the left speaker and the gray plug is the right speaker. The speakers themselves have color-coding on the inside of the ports as well to help.*Soundbar itself is kind of big compared to others but has a pretty low profile which makes it great for fitting right in front of the TV and not being in the way.*Upfiring speakers are much better at providing Atmos sound compared to the digital/”fake” up-firing speakers that I have heard in some other soundbars.*Remote is a nice upgrade with the digital display that makes it easy to change inputs.Cons:*Depending on what content you’re watching and if it’s in surround sound, I noticed that it can take the speaker about 5-10s for it to start playing a sound while the TV is already playing video. It was also out of sync (ahead) by about half a second, but I corrected this in TV settings by adding delay.*Bluetooth was slow to connect, even slower to start playing music compared to the video as mentioned in the bullet above. Not terrible, but there shouldn’t be such a long delay between pressing play and it actually playing music. That’s why I give it 4 stars on Bluetooth. Everything else about BT is fine.*EQ and level settings on the remote are… bleh. What’s strange is you can go through the levels, like Bass for example, and change it to either + or -. Only once in each direction. And when you hit something like “+” you now have to pick between + or – because there is no way to return it back to neutral for that setting. I wish there were more levels to the levels. I would definitely recommend turning Bass and Height Speakers to +, possibly also turning the side speakers to +. For the weird EQ settings on the remote, I gave it 4 stars on remote.I am personally pairing these speakers with an LG 65NANO85 2021 TV, a Chromecast with Google TV, and tried it with Netflix (Sophie documentary was a dolby atmos title, according to Netflix). If you are using Netflix, you need to be on the premier plan to get Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, by the way. I had only planned to watch about 10 minutes at first, but once I sat there, the visuals and the speakers absolutely drew me in and I couldn’t stop. Not only did it sound crisp and clear, but I felt like I was in the room. I couldn’t really notice the Atmos effect while watching, but it made me feel surrounded and it felt very natural. It was one of the closest feelings I’ve had to being in a movie theater sound system at home that wasn’t some audiophile’s home setup. For $500 (It will likely fall to $450 on sales, maybe even a $400 price tag sometime??), I truly believe it is a good value. This is practically the cheapest way to get into true Atmos entertainment right now and I’m definitely happy I did. Since this is a pretty new product at the time of review, I’m hoping others get in on what a great system this is. You’re not going to be getting perfect audio and this isn’t the top-of-the-line stuff, but I really think this will check a lot of boxes and be a very convenient solution for a lot of people that want to enjoy their shows and movies immersively.

Good sound for the money, but there is an issue

Pros:- Good sound for the price. Bass from the quite small 6″ woofer is surprisingly tight and strong…for the size- Decent options for editing sound profiles- Easy to setup and get workingCons:There is basically just one con and many have addressed this in the reviews. Inconsistent operation.- Strange and loud pops, twice, from the soundbar so far- Volume decreased by itself 3 or 4 times, but not in the last couple weeks.- HERE’s the BIG ONE: it eventually just stops working altogether. I believe the real fix for it is to pull the power from the soundbar. Many times I’ve just done everything such as reconnecting cables, restarting the TV and then pulling the power on the soundbar, but my most recent tests seemed to indicate that removing the power from the soundbar is the quickest way to get it back up and running. This is a clear indication that Vizio has an issue somewhere. I’ve confirmed that it IS on their most recent firmware version so that is not the issue and it obviously was not the fix that many had hoped for. I considered returning it but since we just moved and there has been so much to deal with, I’m just going to place this soundbar on it’s own power strip with an on off switch so that I can quickly and easily reset the bar when needed.SummaryMost people would not want to have to deal with these kinds of issues with a brand new product so my recommendation is that most buyers stay away from this product. But since the sound quality overall is pretty good, at this point I’m fairly confident that my workaround of power resetting the bar every week or two will be quick and easy and cost effective. I actually had to do this, but less frequently with my old 10″ Kliptsch Subwoofer so not a biggie for me.UPDATEI did put the soundbar on its own power strip which is easy to reach yet still hidden. When the soundbar decides to stop working, which these days is about every 2-3 weeks or so, I turn off the power strip for a 1-3 minutes and then power it back up. That gets ts it working again. Also, it’s been many months since we’ve heard any of the odd pops we heard soon after the purchase. So given the price I paid and the pretty good sound out of it and this easy workaround, I upped the rating to 4 stars. Still, shame on Vizio for letting this out without a proper fix.

    No regrets!

This soundbar has the right flexibility, sound quality, and loudness at a very reasonable price. You’ll be hard-pressed to get so much for so little in another brand. I’ll say I’m happy with how this brand caters to budget conscience customers, without punishing them for being in that group.I’ve been watching 5.1 movies through my Apple TV and Fire TV (I have both). My TV is arc, not the updated eArc my soundbar supports, so I did have to move some things around to get the Apple TV to play the sound correctly. If you have this issue, you may also find that it’s better to plug your Apple TV into the SoundBar’s extra HDMI (not to the TV directly), and then plug SoundBar’s main eArc HDMI into your TV’s Arc HDMI. It has to be Arc or eArc for this to work seamlessly. The SoundBar with then have a dual function. It will be the bridge input for the Apple TV (allowing you to switch your TV to the Apple TV input as you did before), but it will also know how to automatically serve out audio to the soundbar of any other devices connected to your TV when you switch its input. So in other words, when the SoundBar is connected to the Arc or eArc on your actual TV, your TV will detect the SoundBar and when you switch to any other input on your TV, its audio will go out through the SoundBar, even when you’re not switched over to the input of which the SoundBar is directly plugged. The Fire TV can continue to be plugged into one of the TV’s extra HDMI ports without throwing out the sound. Fire TV will know how to downgrade the sound correctly for arc so it can use the 5.1 available on your 5.1 soundbar. It has to downgrade because arc has a lower bandwidth than the upgraded eArc. Apple TV, on the other hand, is not as kind to older or outdated protocols so may throw 5.1 out altogether if not connected with the workaround. If Apple TV is plugged directly into your soundbar, the soundbar is able to handle the full high-fidelity sound first, without it having to pass through your TV’s older arc port which causes Apple TV to throw out 5.1 sound either making it mute or having to be forced down to stereo.I have my Echo plugged in through Aux. I haven’t figured that part out yet to get this seamless. It seems the Alexia sounds a bit low or I’m not sure if the sound is coming out as expected. I am asserting that I have to read the manual more to learn how the inputs work or when it automatically switches. I still have to work with that. There is a remote that allows you to manually switch the inputs of the SoundBar (i.e. Bluetooth, Aux, Aux VA (Voice Assistant), USB, HDMI, HDMI arc. HDMI eArc will be your default. But again, I didn’t get that sick feeling one can get when you’re not sure if you should have bought something or not. This is really good for both movies and music. It’s a Sunday Morning right now and I’m playing Lashun Pace before church and the sound is … well, impressive.

Great sound system for the money!

We needed a little sound system for a new 43 inch TV in our bedroom. After researching, we decided on the VIZIO M-Series 5.1 channel system. It had a reasonable price for its application (the foot of our bed). Our expectations were that it would provide simple, basic, sound that would be louder than the TV speakers. After getting everything connected, queueing up a sound-centric movie on Netflix, and sitting back in bed, we fired up a movie. We were blown away! The VIZIO M-Series 5.1 sound system far exceeded our expectations and produced an excellent, immersive, surround sound experience! The little subwoofer really packed a punch! It was SOLID! No cheap, hollow, plastic sound there! It gave the 12-inch subwoofer we have in our home theater a run for its money! Then there’s the little surround speakers! They delivered very distinctive surround sound from the movie. We had them placed on the nightstands to the sides of our bed.All that said, we are very happy with our new VIZIO M-Series sound bar system. In one scene, where the camera was spinning around the room, the surround speakers gave the impression of the circling sound.Cools things about the VIZIO M-Series sound bar system:Atmos compatible. The wireless, self-powered, subwoofer that the surround speakers connect to.The surround speakers have very long cables connected to the subwoofer so that they can be placed almost anywhere in the room. They can also be mounted to the wall with the included mounting kit.Volume control through the TV’s remote. No configuration to the TV remote was needed when connecting the sound bar to the TV with the supplied HDMI cable. (But HOW?!?! eARC technology through the HDMI cable)The sound bar is packed with 6 speakers. Two per channel. (Left, center and right.)Easy setup! We didn’t even need to tweak the sound! If you are still reading this review, here are some off-the-subject details about what we did with the TV in our bedroom. We purchased a modern black TV cart to put our new TV on and replaced the legs with wheels so that it could be stored in the corner of the bedroom, when not in use, and could be rolled to the foot of the bed when we want to watch TV in bed.We mounted the TV on a table-top stand that allows the TV to rotate from horizontal to portrait when stored away. The stand is very sturdy and stable. We placed the M-Series sound bar on the top of the TV cart, in front of the TV. The base of the TV stand has enough gap under it to hide away the sound bar’s cables. The wireless subwoofer was place at the other end of the room where the head of the bed is. As I mentioned earlier in this review, the surround speakers were placed on our nightstands.See the included photos.

Former traditional hi-fi amp/speaker user…this set is impressive!

I used to have a bulky onkyo receiver (was top of the line at the time) mated to 5 in-ceiling speakerkraft modules and a subwoofer as my home theatre setup in my previous residence. It sounded phenomenal. But we needed to downgrade and keep things simpler for our new house. Decided to try this Vizio setup to mate to our new 77″ LG OLED unit after racking my brain doing extensive soundbar research.Understand that a soundbar will never, ever sound as good as a good, traditional amp/speaker setup. And you can still spend in upwards of $2k for a soundbar combo. But for $3xx-4xx…I don’t think this can be touched in terms of features or performance. It is VERY impressive for what it is. Assuming your tv has an existing eARC port, setup is pretty much plug n’ play, and you’ll be able to control the volume via your TV remote. The soundbar itself emits quite clear dialogue/highs. You can tell it has quite a few speakers integrated (including vertical firing), as the soundstage is 3 dimensional. The bass is DEEP and loud. The subwoofer module itself is wireless and can be placed anywhere in the room, but is recommended in a corner location to enhance the low frequency reverberations. It honestly sounds like an 8 or 10 inch subwoofer. Trust me when I tell you, you will feel the bass at medium to higher volume levels. The rear surround speakers are not wireless and are mated to the subwoofer module. They do provide ample wire for both of these speakers though. My only complaint would be having truly wireless surround speakers, but beggars can’t be choosers at this price point.I have a $200 hisense 5.1 dolby atmos soundbar setup…and to be honest the Vizio M-Series blows it out the water in terms of fidelity, especially the higher frequencies. There’s levels to audio components, which is only limited by your budget. But from most all the audiophile reviews I’ve seen, you simply cannot beat this M-series unit in this price range.Oh, and lastly….we have not experienced any sort of lag/delay/synching issues that have been reported by many others with this particular model. However, we don’t use it with any external components, either. We exclusively use it with the tv (we use Youtube TV streaming), so you may have a different experience if using in conjunction with a gaming console and/or external media player. This unit is so good, I may end up selling my Hisense and ordering a second one of these for my bedroom.

Good value and sound for a Small space

The Vizio M series sound bar is an upgrade to TV speakers in a small space but not powerful enough to fill a large family room. I am using it in a small den. It would work in a bedroom or other smaller space. It sits low so it does not block the TV. It sits on a black entertainment cabinet and it is not very visible. I control it with an Apple TV and thus I can use the passthrough HDMI and the ARC HDMI on the TV and turn all three on with the Apple Remote. You can use the Apple Remote to control the volume so you only need the Vizio remote when changing the input. The Dolby Atmos impact is minimal at best but for an all in one sound bar the bass is pretty good and music sounds good through both the Apple TV controlled apps and bluetooth connections. I have an Echo Dot hooked up to VAUX input and can use Alexa through the bar for various normal echo uses. I think that this soundbar is worthwhile having as long as you don’t compare it to larger 3.1 or 5.1 systems with more power and soundstage. I recommend it for a smaller space but not for true surround sound uses in a larger family room.

Amazing value for the quality, had some small issues

I am amazed by the quality of the soundbar. The fidelity of the sound is some of the best I’ve ever heard! Dialogue is very clear and you can hear it more differentiated from the music and bass. Bass levels are also really good and sounds way better than my old setup which was a cheap/basic stereo soundbar with a subwoofer.I previously never owned a surround sound system and now it’s hard to go back. Gaming with 3D surround sound on PS5 and even regular 5.1 surround on my Switch has been amazing and way better than just stereo. And Dolby Atmos is incredible! I do notice the difference between when the height channels are there versus not, but they’re not super convincing that sound is above my head. It sort of sounds like that and the more I watch content in Atmos, the more I feel like I’m hearing the height channels and the role they play. The big differentiator with Atmos is that sounds can feel like they’re coming from all over, even in areas of my living room where speakers aren’t present. I’m really loving watching content in Atmos! As far as my experience playing it on Roku, every app has just worked. If the content has Atmos, the Atmos track plays and a green light on the soundbar verifies Atmos is being played out.Setup was very easy and it helps that the subwoofer is wireless and can be placed on the other side of a room. Where I ran into issues is that I had some video/audio sync issues when first using the soundbar. I’m using a TCL 6 series Roku TV and when I would play content from specific apps like YouTube, Hulu, or Peacock where there would be ads, the lip sync started and then got worse and worse for all content with unplugging and plugging back in all devices being the fix. Vizio support requested I factory reset the device and when I did, I noticed significantly less issues. It has been weeks since the last A/V sync issue but my mind goes and tries to look for it which is exhausting. I hoping I get over my first experiences with it and can just enjoy it now that it appears everything is in a good place.I highly recommend this to anyone looking to upgrade their sound system to 5.1 surround sound and/or Dolby Atmos. It’s a game changer and absolutely worth it!Update on the A/V lag: I have found that ensuring Dolby Digital Plus was turned on, the lag stopped and now everything just works after streaming a variety of content across a few hours. It’s a very noticeable difference.

    Awesome for bedroom surround

I have a Full size home theatre setup with large speakers and a 12 inch sub in my living room, so going from that to my tv speakers when its time to head to the bedroom at night was always a disappointment. This fills in that gap nicely, I have the two surround speakers on the far corners of my night stands on each side of the bed facing inwards towards me and the subwoofer under the bed frame. I like a little more bass with my movies so i raised the sub volume a few notches from the normal setting and i can say this little sub punches above its weight class (My bed could be helping this sub perform a bit better due to acting as sort of an enclosure like you would find with a sub in a box for a car stereo, so that might be an idea for some people). I like the way my bed shakes when theres an explosion or something lol. I also use the soundbar to listen to bluetooth music from my phone and it works very well for that also. The treble/high end is a little lacking at normal levels but if you raise the treble level a few notches and also the dialogue level a bit that helps with the high end. Overall satisfied with this soundbar no buyers remorse.

Sound bar is good but not worth $500

I bought this sound bar to upgrade from my previous sound bar that was a no name brand, 2.1 ch 190w Dolby Digital sound bar, that I got for $100 it sounded really good for the price but eventually died. This sound bar was supposed to be a huge upgrade from the other one, but after using it for a couple days, I’m a little disappointed, it’s definitely better than my previous sound bar for movie experience, but for music that’s a debate. The sound quality is pretty good at low to medium volume, at high volume it struggles a little with certain music and movies with a lot of bass, and at max volume you can sometimes hear crackling coming from the sound bar and subwoofer, the crackling distracts me from the movie I’m watching, and the subwoofer, struggling to output bass at max volume when I’m listening to music, throws me off. The up firing speakers suck, I recommend for some movies and music to turn them off, the rear speakers sound all right, and I haven’t had any issues with them, the surround sound you get out of having the extra speakers is pretty decent, now here’s where the problem lies with this sound bar, it’s meant to be for a living room, I bought it for my bedroom, but even in a more confined space it sounds ok, I was expecting it to sound better since a bedroom is not as open as a living room, where the sound spreads out more in a living room, making it less immersive, a smaller area should theoretically make it more immersive since the sound is in a confined space, considering how it sounds OK, in a bedroom when it’s meant to be for a living room with more open space is a little disappointing especially for a sound bar priced at $500. Who knows maybe I’m wrong and putting it in the living room is when the sound bar sounds really good, would I recommend this sound bar, for a Dolby Atmos experience, the answer is no, the disappointing truth is that it’s not powerful enough to really produce that sound for Dolby atmos, maybe if the speakers and subwoofer were bigger, and didn’t suffer from crackling at high volumes, then it would be a great sound bar for the price, it’s decent for movies and surround sound, but for Dolby atmos no, honestly with how it sounds it should be priced around $300 especially with how bad those up firing speakers are, Vizio makes great sound bars as a whole for a good price, honestly for a Dolby Atmos soundbar, you should get either a JBL, Lg, or the Vizio, elevate sound bar, if you have a little extra money to spend, I heard that sound bar is pretty good.

Great sound quality for the price!

Easy to assemble. Provides a variety of sound functions with good quality. The volume of spoken dialogue in movie mode is low and hard to hear. I would prefer if the dialogue was louder but the sound effects are very clear. I would recommend for the over-all quality at a decent price.

Very easy to install. Great sound. Dolby atmos is great.

Bought the M5.1.2 to get better sound quality (specially to hear voice/dialogue better) and to get Dolby Atmos for movies. Both are much better now so it is a success. The surround speakers are very lightweight, so I was able to attach them behind the couch using Velcro tape and I will be able to reposition them easily in the future if I have to. No need to drill holes in the wall.Note: I also performed an update of the firmware. It took less than 2 mn to perform the update using a fast USB drive. I would recommend everyone to perform the firmware update as it made the remote control and the light on the soundbar work better (more reliably).

    Great sounds, when it works

The Vizio M512a-H6 sounds amazing for the most part. It feels like a true home theater sound system in my home. However, the sound occasionally cuts out on Dolby MAT/Dolby TrueHD content with my Playstation 5, which is connected to the eARC port on my 2020 Samsung TV. I’m not sure if this is caused solely by the PS5, but I would expect this to work seamlessly with all my devices for the price paid. For that reason I can only give 4 stars.

    Sounds Good 👍

The media could not be loaded.

It’s easy to use and set up and it sounds good. It has bass. It’s a nice deep bass. But be realistic here. If you’re looking for deep loud booming bass you can only get that out of a sub woofer. This sounds clear and has several presets as well as separate high n low adjustments. Some of the options like TVOL and VRT:X was hard to figure out because there was no user manual. I had to look it up online. 🤔 All the options make noticeable subtle differences. Vocal clarity is good. It never sounds too tinny or too high pitched or rattling bass like it’s struggling. The bass does drop in richness the higher the volume. Probably so it doesn’t blow.Bottom line it’s a good sounding soundbar with good options and for the money completely worth buying. 👍

    Budget 5.1 exceeds expectations

I have never owned a Vizio product before. They seem to have mixed reviews, but overall good quality compared to name brands. I have been a long time user of 2.1 systems and always thought it was enough for me as this is mainly for connecting to a PC for youtube and streaming videos and self hosted movies on a NAS. Not an audiophile, but good sound quality and getting the most out of the equipment is important to me. So I always used a digital connection whenever possible. Whether that was coax, or spdif, or HDMI. Being that HDMI and Atmos is the future for audio for now, the M51ax-J6 seemed to be the best budget choice to get into hearing what I have been missing. On my first movie and music test of the M51ax-J6, I immediately noticed how much clearer the front speakers were compared to my old Samsung soundbar. Dialogue was clear and little things like leaves rustling or paper crinkling in the scene would just tickle my ear. The sound separation between left and right was very good and immersive. Really made me realize all that I was missing for so many years running basic 2.1.Now for the dislikes I have noticed. The sound volume disparity between LPCM and Bitstreamed audio like Dolby or DTS, etc is really bad. On the same soundbar volume setting, LPCM is probably around 15db lower volume. So one minute watching youtube comfortably, then playing a bluray movie, then suddenly the volume is blasting. Luckily I use Equalizer APO and have preamped the LPCM to increase the volume to try and level out the disparity, then I can keep the M51ax-J6 at a reasonable volume setting and be able to enjoy LPCM or DTS without too much issue. And another dislike is that any LFE out of the sub seems very weak and low. I have placed the sub in the same location I had the Samsung soundbar’s sub in and even with the sub level increased it is still weaker than the Samsung. It either has a very bad crossover or some kind of post processing to lower the LFE signal.Last dislike is the LCD screen on the remote. There are no numbers or visual confirmation when increasing volume or levels on the remote. If I am sitting 15ft from the TV, trying to count the little dots on the soundbar or even trying to discern the brightness level of the little LED lights is not so easy. A numbered readout on the LCD would have made this so much better.Overall still liking my purchase and it has met and exceeded my expectations. Only time will tell if the dislikes will override my likes. My next step with this is to perform a Room EQ and see if any corrections are needed. Will update my review when I have spent more time with this setup.

    Exceeded Expectations

Great immersive sound quality. Very satisfied with this purchase. The interface is a little lacking as control and feedback is provided only by the remote and light dots on the bar.

    Great speakers for the price

I have a desk with a shelf in the back. Couldn’t think of anything more perfect for that space than a soundbar. I’ve never had a soundbar for a computer before this one, so I can’t give you a good comparison to others. I do know that for a office computer, you don’t need extreme performance. These are great for background music while working….as well as taking breaks to watch video. For their size, they have really good audio. The only problem I have with them is this….sync through bluetooth has a lag. About a second or more. It makes watching videos impossible. The simple fix was an RCA cable to the computer. No issues now.

    Lip sync issues

Not that simple set-up. It changes the lip sync and it ain’t easy figuring out how to fix that. It’s still not perfect but it’s like 99% there. Maybe someone younger could figure it out. The sound is amazing!

    A great addition

I bought this due to limited space for a surround system. I ended up hanging it on the wall over the TV, which has worked out great. I read that it has a gyroscope sensor to sense if it is in the hanging position. It has built in wall hooks so I was able to return the wall hangers that I purchased. The sound quality is very good. A great improvement over the TV alone. The only down side, as I have read in on line reviews is that the bass is boomy. However, we just turned the bass way down. Go for it!

    Works perfect after firmware update.

Reports of the subwoofer losing bluetooth connectivity are true. You need to go to Vizio’s site and download the firmware update. After that works perfect. The sound is surprisingly full and awesome bass. In fact, I had to turn the subwoofer down because the bass from the soundbar is plenty for my living room. If you want better than the sound from your TV, this soundbar is perfect. The height speakers are pretty weak, but the sound is there.

    Installed in Grand Design 22bhe

This is a new model by Grand Design that doesn’t come with a soundbar. This soundbar mounted perfectly under the TV rack and sound is good for our little XLS. The sub fits right into the Murphy bed cabinet and the satellite speakers fit in the cubbies next to Murphy bed. I got this as a return for $210 and at that price, this is a buy!!

    Super low maintenance, fantastic quality.

We have two vizio televisions we have had for over 15 years, never once had a problem with their brand, they make quality items that last forever. This last Christmas we were able to get a 65″ Hisense for $300 on black friday. Got it home and the built in speakers were absolute garbage. Decided to try this vizio sound bar and subwoofer. After everything was unboxed it was literally up and working in about 3 minutes. Subwoofer plugs into the wall, bar plugs into the HDMI on the back of the TV, and a power plug to the wall. The bar connects via bluetooth to the subwoofer.I don’t even have to use the vizio remote to change volume, which I assumed would be the case. The quality is amazing. The bass is DEEP and impressive. I’m no audio expert, but I do know that the upgrade was massive and totally worth the investment.

Worked well for the price- Atomos features a little hard to discern

I had to return my first unit (since replaced under warrantee) after 4 months- the ATMOS features simply stopped working (The unit no longer recognized/detected ATMOS signal)Replacement unit works perfectly- but the Atmos sound is hard to discern. One doesn’t actually feel the sound coming from above, etc- but I’d imagine this is to be expected on a unit at this price point. It does have a nice sound quality overall- and does have a nice bass boom when needed.
