    Love my new Fire 10

This is my fifth kindle. I read a lot and my last had an unfortunate accident. Each kindle I buy is better t than the one before. This one is fantastic! One of its best features is that the volume on it is much louder. I’m a quilter and I use the text-to-speech feature a lot to listen to books while sewing. Now I can hear it more easily while using my sewing machine.

    My 4th Fire tablet and..

This is my 4 tablet I have owned from Amazon. On I traded in as it was time to retire it. And then my Fire 8 died. So it was time for a new tablet. So I picked the this new version. I want to sleep listening to a book and it was awful. The sound from my other tablet 2022 sounds so much better. For some reason this new version of has a tinny sound. The BT speaker is better. But I am disappointed in the sound quality.

    Updated Review

So – I gave this one more chance. I wiped and set up new, opened Amazon Music and waited until the next day to use it to give it time to sync my library – and it is working OK now. Other apps are also working (by other apps, I mean Kindle, Max, Plex, Facebook, Pluto and ESPN. So – for $105 on sale, I’d say this is a remarkable bargain, if it holds up.ORIGINAL REVIEW:I keep trying Fire tablets, hoping they will get better – or maybe I should say – hoping they will become usable. By usable, I mean – tapping on an album in Amazon Music and expecting it to start playing within 5-10 seconds. But nope – sometimes it takes 30 seconds. Sometimes they just won’t play at all. Come one. This is YOUR APP!!! I just don’t get Amazon’s strategy here. Maybe I’ll wait a few more years and see if they get any better.

It really doesn’t get any better than this

At this price range this tablet is a truly an amazing deal. really the only complaint i have with this tablet is that I wish the OS (FireOS) was fleshed out more. It is missing most of the features and polish of regular Android. However for most of the time that I spend with the fire table 10 FireOS works just fine, and is good enough for tablet related stuff. Despite the negatives the value that this tablet truly is unbeatable when put up with it’s competition at this price point. I would highly recommend this tablet to anybody who needs a tablet for the ultimate media experience in a budget.P.S The best time to buy this is during Prime Days.

    Amazing!

I bought this tablet for my son since his other one broke. He absolutely loves this thing and watches it whenever I let him have it for his tv/tablet time. It’s been a live saver in the car for long car trips it keeps him entertained to the max! Would definitely recommend this tablet for any age range.

Nor quite the size but great performance

So far, I have not found anything wrong except that the unit got SMALLER than the previous Tablet HD10 that I’m trading for the 2023 version. Colors are brighter, the start-up page is much faster. A bit lighter in weight. Overall, an outstanding machine. From the first battery charge up, that first charge lasted over a calendar week. I do recommend it for teenagers to seniors.Note to Amazon: please move production back to the U.S.A.

    Child loves it

After having gone through many other devices, when this came on sale I purchased it to replace a no charging generic branded 10″ one for my child. We weren’t sure because we don’t always like the Amazon fire tablets, they are much more restrictive than other brands. However, my child is very happy with this purchase. She says the camera is “so much better” and offers her much finer levels of detail for her photos of her beloved cat.She says it is faster, easy to set up, and has spent more time on it than her other devices because she likes it.This is a win. Kid is 10.

    Works fine for the price

Buying Kindle books is much easier than on a non-Fire tablet. I’m used to Samsung tablets, though, and learning to navigate the Fire is taking some time. The Amazon app store did have the game I really like to play, so I would guess you can find most of what you are looking for there. I did not like that I cannot resize the screen by using my fingers (zoom in or out). We chose the version with ads, and they are really not bothersome. Although my husband downloaded a pic for wallpaper and the ad bar on the home screen goes right through the main part of the pic. For the price, if you are just looking for Kindle books, some internet and some game apps, this is a good buy.

    The screen

This is my first review of a Kindle Fire, and I’ve had a few in the past, but what really sharp and crisp the screen is. I like to watch stuff on YouTube and with this newest one I am amazed by how much sharper the screen is. Best one so far

    Amazon Fire HD 10 tablet

I got lucky & bought this 10-inch Fire Tablet on sale which saved me a considerable amount of money. Although I don’t use it aggressively, I have used it on occasion for watching a movie or two & with the help of Alexa I can play a movie instantly “hands-free” which is a big convenience for me. I did buy a case for it which has a durable stand for propping up the tablet for viewing which I find very convenient. I do intend to use this tablet more often but I have a lot going on in my life right now & for the moment time is not on my side. That being said though, what time I have spent using this tablet has been enjoyable.

All-new Amazon Fire HD 10 tablet

Nice upgrade from the older version. Biggest thing for me is the speed – definitely faster than the old one. And a smaller bezel top and bottom makes it little shorter than the old version with the same screen size. Had to get a new case of course. I don’t use it for gaming or heavy business use so it’s a good inexpensive choice for me and the $30 trade-in is a nice touch from Amazon. This time I got the no ad version – they aren’t a big nuisance but it feels a little less toy-like without them. If you’re not a power user and aren’t using it all the time these are a good choice.

Right Size | Includes 3.5mm Audio Input + USB-C | No Simultaneous Charging & Accs Support

I downgraded from the Max 11 2023 latest version because that version was simply too big, had only one USB-C input that you could ONLY use for either charging or connecting an accessory. It also had tons of bugs with touchscreen such as scrolling up and down with your fingers being mistaken as a click. At one time I lost the touchscreen completely. The unit was not responding to anything. I had to connect a wired mouse via USB-C to get the unit to restart and resolving the issue. Otherwise, the unit would be locked out completely. There is no external reset button on that model either. This one (Version 10, 2023) that I am reviewing here doesn’t have the above issues, smaller but the right size and manageable specially for closeup work and applications. I found the Max 11 to be too big. However, the issue with lack of support for simultaneous charging and connecting a wired accessory via a USB-C splitter adapter remains. You have to only use bluetooth accessories like the one Amazon want you to use. This is a terrible and dreadfully limiting feature.Forcing the user to only use bluetooth means they have to discard perfectly serviceable wired accessories that would otherwise work with the unit. Bluetooth is not always desirable or convenient plus it adds further risk of radiation exposure that is otherwise eliminated with a wired accessory. Some people can actually get headaches when exposed to a close and constant sources of bluetooth emitting devices. There are also security issues that are beyond the scope of this review. In the next variant of this product, Amazon should build a simultaneous support for charging and adding an accessory via its only USB-C input via a adapter like the one I’ve attached a photo of or simply offer several USB-C inputs; one for accessory, one for charging. In my case I have a wired keyboard that is super ergonomic with built in USB inputs of its own that allow you to connect a mouse directly into it, hence you only need one input into any device to use both keyboard and a mouse without the needing of several inputs. The keyboard pass on any USB device connection connected to it to a device you connect it to. With this current version, you can only use an accessory or charge, not both.

Excellent affordable update to Fire tablet

Have had a few Fire tablets before but wanted to upgrade to latest model due to sales and trade in/coupons and the old one seemed a little slow and 2 year warranty was expired. Very happy with this new HD-10 tablet, screen looks great, responds quickly, more memory than the older one. Use it mainly for reading and light entertainment/videos and can check facebook and emails. Microsoft 365 is on it as an app but do not have a keyboard and seldom use it for work though you could. Have another chromebook, laptop, Ipad for that – each device has it’s own niche and best uses. For me this is mainly for entertainment/relaxation as in the item’s online description. One minor annoyance — trying to play Hulu app gets an error message “can’t play on this display supports HDCP” – maybe will contact tech support but I can watch Hulu on other device so no biggie.

    Happy with my purchase…

I purchased this to replace my old 10 inch Kindle that stopped working (I think the battery died after using it for about three years – I could not get it to turn back on). I don’t really notice much difference between the two other than this one the front facing camera lens in on the left hand side rather than at the top of the page. They’re not much different in size (it’s slightly shorter and a bit wider than my old one) just enough so, that I had to buy a new cover to fit it. I wish I could have saved the money on another cover – but I’m sure they do that so people have to purchase a new cover.I had considered another model and had planned to trade in my old Kindle, but I guess I didn’t check that box when I decided on this one? So I didn’t get any discount (based on what they would have valued it at), so that was my only disappointment with the purchase. In any event, it’s a nice tablet and I highly recommend it.

Great hardware compromised by the custom OS

This is a great little tablet as long as you don’t want to use YouTube, or are a “light” YouTube user.I got this for my wife and she is a big YouTube consumer. For her, the hard stop is that when using the poor youtube app that is available through the prime store, she can’t view the live chats.I’ve put off too long to return it, so I’ll probably just figure out how to hack it and install the official Google Play store, then the official YouTube app.But the hardware itself is above par. Great battery life, beautiful crisp, responsive touch screen.

    Fun Tablet

I was so excited to get my tablet – first one ever! The picture is wonderful, so sharp and clear. I took a great picture of my dog. The only down-side, this is NOT compatible with Google and their app store. My games are on my phone and computer, but I was looking forward to continuing on the tablet. I would have looked for an android had I known I couldn’t access the games I’ve been playing for years… I debated returning and replacing, but I really like the clarity and ease of using the Amazon Fire tablet.

    Not packed very securely.

I got this for my Wife for Christmas. So far she seems to like it and everything seems to work. The only problem I have with it besides having to order it twice because the first time it never came, other than that the 2nd one came on time but it wasn’t packed very well. Especially for being a more expensive electronic device with a glass screen that could easily break. It was in a bigger box along with a heavy pack of 32 batteries. Both just bouncing around in the big box. When I picked it up and tilted the box they banged around in there loudly. I really expected to see the tablet broken. Luckily it wasn’t seeing as it arrived just in time for Christmas because I had to order it twice.

I’m always replacing these due to the screen

They are so cheap I use them as throwaways. I have to get a new one every couple of years because the touch screens quit working, I think they are very poorly made. I almost exclusively use it to listen to a book on tape at night to put me to sleep. I barely use the touch screen, it sits in a holder.I’ve no idea why the touch screens quit but I’m thinking cheap parts, then again it’s a cheap tablet.

    Pleasantly surprised!

I purchased this tablet to keep me busy until I get a new premium pro tablet next month but am so surprised at the ease of use, speed, and quality of this tablet.I may not be able to use this tablet for work, but to browse the web, play some games, chat with AI, and use social media apps, this table is perfect. It is lightweight, the screen looks crisp, it barely has any hiccups when multi-tasking. For example, I can watch a YouTube video in a Picture-in-Picture (PIP) window while using a web browser and it has no issues.I recently purchased and returned a more expensive Lenovo Ideapad Duet 5 Chromebook and decided to stick with the Amazon Fire 10 because of how capable this table is.Big props to Amazon!

Good deal for a solid tablet

I decided to upgrade my tablet (a 7″ Android tablet) and decided on the Kindle Fire HD 10. I primarily use it for reading books, watching videos, and playing some games. The Kindle Fire uses a version of Android, so the interface is easy to use.Adding books from the Kindle store is simple, as is using the Amazon Appstore. If you’re not keen on what’s available in the appstore, there are ways to work around that.Performance-wise, it does fine running everything I have loaded on it. I’m not using it for resource-heavy processing. Battery life is good. I use it an hour or so each day (with wifi on), and I have to charge it about once a week.

Update: Best $100 tablet you can get once you install Play Store

At one time I had like an $800 iPad Pro that I mostly used as a Treadmill screen and it was overkill so I sold it and bought this. For my use case which is mostly watching Youtube or Netflix on a Treadmill it’s great. These tablets go on sale a lot so I would caveat that its worth it to me when its on sale (eg ~$100 with no ads). Very lightweight and thin, I was surprised. They probably could have made it feel more premium with an aluminum body but plastic is fine, it still feels solid. Picture quality is very good for the price and it’s also a lot snappier than I expected. My kids have older Kindle 8’s and they are painfully slow to me so it was a nice surprise. Kindles btw are great for kids especially if you pay for their game/app subscription. The only thing that annoys me about Kindle fires is the app store is pretty worthless. I might side-load the Play store at some point to install the NFL app so I can watch games, otherwise its fine for what I am doing which is watching videos on Netflix, Prime or YouTube. If you need an all purpose tablet that you use in lieu of a computer then something like an iPad Pro is the way to go. If you are literally just using a tablet to watch videos bc you don’t want to watch them on a 6 inch phone screen then this is perfect for that.UPDATE:I finally decided to try to install the Play Store, turns out it was not as much of a pain as I thought it would be. Lots of tutorials on the web on how to do it. I had it installed in like 5 minutes and that just unlocked so much more stuff. I could install the real YouTube app plus some other apps I wanted. I even installed Call of Duty mobile which to my surprise actually plays really well. I can’t believe I got all this for $100, I imagine in time it will even get cheaper as Amazon tends to run a lot of discounts on their products.

Very good especially considering the price.

I purchased this to replace my old one that suffered a cracked screen. It’s great and supposed to be faster then the older version although I am not able to tell that it is for what I use it for which is 99.8 % book reader. Both are fast. The battery does seem to have a longer life though. It’s a great tablet and excellent reader. Get one, You won’t regret it. A whole library contained in a very small space.

My Dad Likes It A Lot

I bought this as a Christmas gift for my elderly dad who’s modestly familiar with modern day technology such as computers, and tablets (He doesn’t own a smart phone). In the past my siblings and I have tried to give him tablets as a gift, or to borrow… and his enthusiasm was basically null; he barely touched his Android tablet. However, this Amazon Fire HD 10 was the first tablet he actually grew fond of the moment it turned on. Matter of fact he uses the Fire tablet daily in the reading room for web browsing, news apps, etc…, and he’s quite content with its operation as demonstrated with his continued daily use of it. The Fire tablet receives a minimum of one hour usage each day, and he only charges it on Sundays if that lends an idea to the Fire tablet’s battery capability. In 2017 I bought a Fire HD 8 for my child, and it sustained in immense amount of abuse as would be expected from a 10 year old (drops, continual full discharges, power cable yanks, etc…), yet it still holds a charge, and works just fine today. In no way will the Amazon AppStore rival Google Play apps, or Apple’s App Store, however, if you want a very inexpensive tablet for web browsing, movies, TV shows, and games you can’t go wrong with these very abled Amazon Fire tablets.I’ve heard you can actually fumble around and get some of Google’s Play Store apps to successfully work on these Fire tablets because of the OS’s similar Linux file structure… but let that be more of a welcoming surprise than an expectation. All in all it really is a decent inexpensive tablet.

    Super Kindle!

It’s lighter than my older Kindle. It’s very light, like holding a piece of thin plastic. I was surprised. Once I found a case for it, I felt more secure about using it. It’s clarity, reception, colors, sound…It’s wonderful! My older Kindle I turned into Amazon for 20% off credit from the price of this new tablet. Very easy to mail it to them since they gave me free postage. Technology really is advancing! It also seems there’s more apps and entertainment on this than on my older tablet.

    Good for the price

Really great for the price if you get it on sale. Then it’s even better after adding play store + g services and nova launcher basically an android tablet. Even apps that say they won’t work on the play store usually work in my experience. Screen isn’t as bad as some of the reviews say. It’s not the best but the viewing angles are actually pretty decent despite what some reviews said and it’s pretty sharp. Sounds alright too not the loudest but enough. It’s battery is a beast 48% after 11 days with 5 hours of screen time and tons of app installs. Cameras are pathetic they might as well have saved cost and not include them. It’s also pretty light for the size. Plastic is great for functionality I’m tired of the style trend tech took.

App limits and SD micro card for internal storage

This is the 2023 ver. What a time I had with getting a Micro SD card that would work with the Internal storage. I bought 3 generic cards with 256g to 1T and none of them would work. Internal storage option was shaded out. Only good for portable storage. I finally bought the more expensive San-disc 256g that Amazon recommends and it works just fine. Go figure! There are Apps that I want to load. Ebay and Sandisk Connect to be 2 of them. Most tablets you go to the app store and those 2 are right there. Maybe I’m missing something. It should be easy and maybe it is for some but I’m having an issue here. For those reasons I’m not too happy with my purchase. I don’t like having my tablet that I paid for being controlled by the company I bought it from.

Perfect if it supports palm rejection

I use this tablet mostly for media consumption and shopping, exactly matching what it is designed to serve. With all the discounts, trade-in stuff, it is dirty cheap. So, no complaints from me! What really impresses me is the USI stylus support. I have a USI stylus, and played with it with some recommended apps. Worked pretty well as a toy, but can’t use it for serious stuff due to lack of palm rejection. Some of the apps do offer limited palm rejection in their pen/ink mode, but usually not very good.Fire keyboard allows you to use handwriting to input text in every text field of every app, which is amazing. It actually detects your stylus, and switch to a stylus mode where the virtual keyboard is minimized to only a few buttons and you can write anywhere on the screen instead of a small writing box. The only draw back is the lack of palm rejection. Without that, your input focus jumps around while your palm gets in contact with the tablet surface. This is makes it no more usable that using a finger or a cheap capacitive stylus. So, as of now, the stylus support doesn’t add any value. It does have potential. I don’t think it is that hard to add palm rejection. Maybe, a firmware upgrade can introduce palm rejection to fire keyboard, then I will change this to a 5 star rating.

    Love my kindle

I had my first kindle for 9 yrs before it died. My next kindle died after 3 yrs. I used the trade in to get a new kindle and so far I really like this model. It’s very easy to navigate. Bedtime would not be the same without reading a few chapters or reading along with audible. Sound quality is nice.

    Very nice

Bought this for my child and so far has been doing well with it. There is a glitch on this one when he is online watching videos, the keyboard pops up continuously and he has to close it quite often. Trying to do troubleshooting on it is a little harder to do, but overall a good purchase.

    Just fine, but

Not being a geek, this Kindle HD work well. Only slight operational difference from my previous Kindle Fire, and compared with Kindle Scribe, overall I like it better. Really only disappointment is due to my assumption. Since this new keyboard cover looks the same as the one bundled with the Fire 11 Max, I assumed it was identical. However, the keyboard of the Max is powered by the Kindle, and this keyboard is powered separately which means another battery to keep charged. This keyboard works just fine, but is old fashioned by comparison. No real complaints, but I’m not a geek remember.

    Anti virus app right away!

Make sure you download an anti virus app as soon as you can. I got viruses in my tablet that completely took over. My son cleaned it all out, and now I love this tablet for now.

    Amazing deal! Big/clear screen

I purchased 2 of these as part of my kids Christmas presents when they were on sale for $89, which came out to $98 with tax! 🎁 so glad I got them while on sale. I wasn’t expecting THIS much out of them, because they’ve had the fire 8 tablets before and we were not pleased with them.. I have to say, I’m very pleasantly surprised. The screen is so nice and clear! And big! About the same size as my iPad 8. It’s also way faster than I thought it would be, which is always good. Kids get aggravated at slow electronics 😅 if you’re searching for a good, cheaper IPAD alternative, this is definitely what I would buy. I went back and forth between this and the Samsung galaxy tablet at the same price. So glad I chose this! Best deal, thanks!

    Cheaply made…

This is my 3rd Kindle Fire…I think the previous 2 were the 8 and 11. Both of them ended the same way—one day they just wouldn’t wake up. No drops, extreme temps, children using them, wrapped in cases their entire lives….just dead after about 3 years. So it was time to order a new one. Ordered the newest one (13th gen). First thing I noticed was the 1st time I had to replace Amazon sent me a box to ship the old one back in and a discount on the new one—this time only the discount. On my own for the box. Last time it was delivered practically overnight—this time had to wait 4 days. Not a super long time except for the fact there is an Amazon distribution center less than 5 miles from my house. I finally get it and open the box…one of the things that is hyped up is how light it is. It is very light—but it feels cheap because the plastic feels a lot thinner. I ordered a case for it that has the light magnet just for closing purposes. First thing that happens is one of the metal tabs comes off the kindle and is stuck to the case. Seems to work ok but I am not holding out hope that this Kindle will last as long as the last two.

    Excellent quality…

The Kindle 10 inch HD 2023 is the third Kindle I have owned. Overall it’s a terrific innovative tablet! My first Kindle, a 7 inch grayscale with button keyboard (still works for reading) serves the purpose as an E-reader but unfortunately the letters wore off the button keyboard. I liked the buttons on the sides to advance or go back a page. The second, an 8 inch Kindle Fire HD (2011) is solidly dependable and I still read with it. I got the new Kindle 10 inch HD mostly for compatibility with library apps & the bigger screen. I’m not a hugh fan of touch screens but that’s how it is now. It’s smooth and colorful, I got it with lock screen Ads disabled which I recommend as they’re annoying. It’s great for watching movies and as a reader. I’m happy with it aside from a few annoyances: #1 documentation sketchy, no PDF you can print- there is on device help but can be difficult to find what you’re looking for and if a problem with the tablet there’s no help. A user manual is available but you have to buy it for ~$10, kind of an insult for a device I paid near $150 for.#2 My 2nd. gen Kindle Fire uses primarily .mobi format E-books. I’ve been collecting books for 15 years so I was a little annoyed when I found out the new Kindle wants .epub format Ebooks if you want to send them to the device- so I have to convert them back to .epub. Books are readable on any Amazon device but are converted to a proprietary format on the device for DRM and unreadable if you copy elsewhere. On a good note the tablet I paid $150 for in October now is less than $100.

    Fire HD 10 is FIRE!

Unfortunately for me I broke the screen on my Fire HD 8 the night before. It was very good in its own right. However this one is much better. The size alone gives you a bigger screen. The Sound quality is superb. The storage is good too. I haven’t ran out of space yet but will purchase a SD card soon. I advise you to get a screen protector. I stupidly keep breaking my own screen. This will be my 4th one I bought since 2020. Those other 2 of 4 were totally destroyed by me because I step on them inadvertently cracking the screen. The last one before this one is still usable but has a noticeable crack. So I decided to get this one. I am happy I did….. 022524sun419pm

    Terrible Tablet BEWARE

Edit-im returning 12 hrs later, same issues happening again. I’m VERY DISAPPOINTEDEdit – Customer service responded quickly to my review. They were very helpful. Updating didn’t work, but once I reset back to factory, and started over, it seems that everything is working ok. I am feeling like the issue was from the Ads that came with the tablet. It is work the few extra dollars to get it without ads that is for sure. This is my 3rd Fire tablet, so I am happy the issues have been resolved.Anyone having issues with the keyboard popping up every 2-5 seconds on this tablet? I have seen where they are having issues with this, and not a fix yet from December. If there is a fix, I would like to know before I wipe and send it back. This is very annoying as you cannot do ANYTHING on this with the screen popping every few seconds.

I love the picture quality and size

I had an old Amazon tablet but this one is so much better. I use it to watch videos while I am working in the kitchen or as an extra computer screen while I am playing games on my computer I use it to hear audible stories. It is so easiy to use. They will send it already loaded and linked so you only have to turn it on and it is hooked to your internet and has yor amazon link already loaded. I got one for my husband and he watches utube videos and listens to Sirius radio. It works like a computer. It makes you set up a password to get into it. I just love this tablet. It is Bluetooth and I have multiple devices hooked to it. A variety of headsets and my jbl speaker.

    Great Kindle

This is primarily used to read ebooks. Sound quality is excellent with wired earbuds. A couple of issues. Sometimes I play simple games on this device and I run into problems with screen sensitivity. It is excellent but when I hold it in portrait mode and have to keep my hand close to the “bottom” of the screen otherwise it thinks I am inputting into the screen. Used a stylist with it and it works great at translating my sloppy handwriting. I have not come close to touching the full capabilities of using it as a writing tablet yet.As this is a higher resolution from the devices in the past the lock screen will now show video commercials instead of the image ones in the past. Annoying but acceptable to me.

    Lacks App Support

I purchased this tablet for monitoring security cameras, also purchased from Amazon. So far, I’ve tested three different types of cameras, from two different manufacturers. It’s critical that notifications are generated for security cameras, so this needs to be addressed. One of the cameras, LaView, is not supported in the Amazon App Store so I had to load from the Google Play Store. Amazon Tech Support was contacted regarding the lack of notifications and all they did was walk me thru a few setup screens and determined the issue was with the camera app, not the tablet. Laview support has been great, they’ve reviewed the camera app logs and provided details showing the camera app did generate notifications as expected. Notifications from these LaView cameras work fine on iPhone and iPad.The 2nd WiFi camera tested is from ReoLink, which is supported on the Amazon App Store. I’m seeing the same issue with notifications, they work fine on the iPhone and iPad but not on the Fire Tablet. I consider this issue as significant and should be addressed.

    Perfect size

My mom is an avid reader and I got tired of seeing her try to read books on her phone. She had been wanting something she could take with her places, that had large print so she could see it. It was simple to set up, has all the apps she needs and you can add new ones if needed or wanted. It is fairly easy for her to manipulate though we still need to help her once in awhile. She has definitely upped her reading game using this.

Very Good Value for the Money

I added the ability to download apps from the Google Play Store. I did this by formatting a Micro SD card in the tablet, then I removed the card and inserted it into my my computer and downloaded the four apk files following an article from wikiHow dated Dec 20, 2023 to the micro SD card. Then I inserted the card into the tablet (which has 32GB of memory built in) and activated/loaded them the order specified. After rebooting the tablet, the Play Store appeared and worked. I can’t find a better value taking into account the cost of the tablet and a 64GB micro SD card. The screen, sound quality and functionality are excellent.

    Doesn’t have handsfree charging

So I bought this thinking it had the handsfree charging like the tablet I bought my wife for Christmas…. It’s nearly identical… except the handsfree charging. Which means yet another wire I have to keep around. That’s the only reason I couldn’t give it 5 stars. Tired of the thousand and one different features on something and if you don’t get the one you like… oh well. And now that they’re charging for returns I’m stuck with it.

    Just Get It

My old fire is fine but I wanted a larger screen, read some reviews and ordered the 10. Amazon seemlessly transferred my few fav apps and books. I just wish I could get WiFi all the time like our phones cuz we have a lot of power down with storms and that’s when we want to watch movies. You need to get a back holder since it’s uncomfortable holding it, if for a kid to do homework, get a stand, many available on amazon

    Larger Screen

Finally had to get a new one as my battery was petering out. Although there are replacements and instruction videos online for changing batteries, I decided to go the easy route. And the reason I rated this a 4 instead of a 5 is mostly because they are not user friendly as far as changing batteries. They recommend just sending it back to them. Pfff. It’s been 6 or 7 years, I was ready for a new one. This new one is not actually larger than the previous versions, it’s just that the black fram around the screen is smaller, therefore making the usable screen itself, larger. Not that big of a difference, really, but enough that if you use your tablet every day, you’ll notice it. I’m just super glad to have this after spending all day trying to recharge a battery, just to have it go down 50% in 20 mins. Yay!

    Worth the Price

Few days ago I got the Fire HD tablet to replace an old Huawei. Have to say that is fast enough, memory ram good enough. Screen is brilliant, but the resolution is not exactly top of the market (never expected for the price paid for). Is light which my wrists are very grateful, I like as well the location of the phisical buttons for power and volume – /+ But up course is far from be the best version of itself. The weakest part is the software, Amazon should improve the customization options which are basic at best. The top bar with suggested apps can not be hidden, the app store it’s so limited that I can’t find many apps available on Android tablets with the Google app store. I would really like Amazon to reduce the amount of advertising on the top bar and the option to get customized themes or the option to do so. In resume, is a solid budget tablet with hardware that works really well but software that needs to improve.

    My 4th Kindle Fire

Love the overall operation of the Kindle Fire and the relative ease of moving everything over from my old Kindle. However, on the old one, in games such as Candy Crush, when you finish a game you could simply touch the bottom of the game screen and it would move you on to the next without having to watch all the hoopla at the the end of the game. This one will not do that – at least as far as I can figure out, which is the reason I gave 4 instead of 5 stars.

Huge performance boost over Fire HD 8 2022

The screen is enjoyable to look at and performance feels substantially improved. It will never be an iPad competitor, but it also costs 1/5th the price of an iPad Air with about 3/5ths the performance. Overall a good value for casual usage and media consumption. The new stylus input also works quite well.

    Great tablet!

I have been using kindle fires for years, and this model is a superstar. The CPU and ram are good enough to run everything I’ve tried. And the USI pen support is WONDERFUL. I use the made for fire stylus and autodesk sketchbook for digital art, the pressure sensitivity is killer, and pen mode where it ignores your palm even works.I would rate this tablet a heavy 4.8/5 with the newly added pen support at 5/5.

    Amazing first kindle

I love how big this kindle is. At first I didn’t like how long it was and i’m still on the fence about it. The shape is just off, but it’s fine. I started reading on my moms old kindle fire (like 5 years old) and I was going to get a paper white, but i’m so glad I went with the fire. The size is amazing. Perfect for watching movies or reading. I mostly read, but my fiancé likes to watch movies on it. The only negative thing I can say is that I had to register the kindle under my moms amazon account in order to share her kindle unlimited account, so it’s a little disappointing that the kindle is registered to her and not me because I bought it. I wish there was a way to just register the kindle app to my moms account and not the whole kindle. Anyways- amazing product and i’m very happy with it!

Turn Kindle book pages hands free with voice – “Voice Access” – FINALLY!!!!!!!!!

This model, and this model ONLY, has a new accessibility feature called Voice Access. I have been searching for this for YEARS for my mother. She is severely arthritic – even touching a screen or button is too hard for her hands. I’ve bought so many gadgets to help her turn pages easier – little clickers, wireless keyboard, etc. They’re all still too hard for her because she is so weak and her mobility is so limited. I initially bought this for my daughter but thought I’d check and see if there had been any updates to allow hands free page turning. I was thrilled to find there finally is! I had not seen this advertised anywhere under new accessibility features. It’s fantastic – activate voice access and little numbers appear on all places you would tap on the screen. Just say “tap #” and it’s as if your finger is doing the work – but your voice is! Inside kindle books, you can just say “next page” or “previous page”. This is life changing for us. iPads have had a similar feature for awhile, but we prefer reading on our Kindle Fires, and I find the Fire is much more responsive to these voice commands than the iPads. Thank you Amazon!!!!!!

Nice large screen (10 inch), faster, easy setup and plenty of room for all your apps. What else could you ask for. I purchased one for my wife and after I seen it and how good it was got one for myself.

Disappointed in this version of Fire tablet.

I have purchased 6 Fire tablets over the years. They have all been reliable workhorses and excellent devices for movies, music and media. I have used my Fire 8 for heavy work research and extremely active social media and blog posting. No, you can’t use these devices to edit films or create graphic art like iPads, but you get a ridiculously great value for top notch media consumption and reliable performance for all web browsing.Until now.I am so disappointed in this version of the Fire tablet. The audio is substantially worse than previous versions, including audio from plugged in headphones and earbuds, not just the device speaker. The performance SUCKS. I’ve had my device for only one day and I’ve had to reboot 6 times because Audible freezes and won’t play. Audible!? Audible is a standard Amazon app that should be fairly bulletproof at this point in Fire tablet history.I also really dislike the new nightshade filter. The almost orange-brown hue of previous tablets actually worked to block blue light. Many of us with light sensitivity issues appreciated that old filter. Yes, it made the screen orange, but it also REALLY prevented eye strain. The new tablet is vaguely amber, similar to the Iphone night shade, and does nothing for my sensitive eyes, even when turned up to the max level. Others likely find the new night shade appearance an improvement over the former orange screen, but I miss how soothing it was.The new Fire also has terrible connection to WiFi. Nothing in my house has changed but unlike previous tablets this one can’t stay connected. I even sat right next to my WiFi hub, and the device kept dropping connection.I’ve noticed a lag when typing, too, that no other tablet had.If you have never owned be previous Fire tablst you might not notice the changes, but if you’ve loved your previous versions, dont get this “upgrade.”
