Just Get An Apple Mac
I received my new Apple Mac Air M1-Chip, 16 gigs of Ram, & 512 Gigs of Memory on Jan. 14, 23K. All I can really say is Oh My Goodness this laptop rocks! I’m loving it by the minute. I’ve been using Apple Products for so many years now & will {Never} purchase a Windows computer for myself again. I have used both operating systems for decades now & I’m just content with Apple. This is the second laptop I have purchased in over 15 yrs. My first was an Apple Mac Book Pro back in the late 90’s. It still works but the software can no longer be updated. With that said this newer laptop is so much more advanced & very light weight. If you’re in the market for a quality machine give Mac a try. It’s a slight learning curve but in my personal opinion it’s totally well worth your hard earned money.

Macs are waaaay overrated
As the owner of Intel Windows-based computers for the last 30 years, I bought my first Mac: Macbook Air M1. Got a good deal in Thailand with an 8GB-512GB machine for under $1100 U.S. – and unlike the U.S. models, mine has the 8-core GPU. I currently own six Windows laptops, including two high-end gaming machines. Here are the pros and cons I see with a Mac:PROS:- Quick and quite powerful with the 8-core CPU/8-core GPU. Geekbench single/multi-core results just beats out my 2022 MSI Summit E14 Flip-Evo with 12-core i7-1260P.- A virus scan of 650,000 files took 12′. On my MSI, takes 2 hours to scan 450,000 files.- LOUD audio volume for headphones. Intels machines are pathetic here; I have to jack the volume button on my Bluetooth headphones to the max.- Easy to work with .PDF files, just make a copy of the file and you can fill it in more easily on a Mac. On Intel machines you have to use Adobe Acrobat Reader, and have to pay annually for the full working version.- On the the Monterey OS, you having a working desktop on only 50GB of storage space for the apps. Try that on an Intel. The built-in word processing programs work fine.- No overheating on the Mac, no fan noise.CONS:- Bought the Mac for the battery life. This is greatly exaggerated by Mac users! I expected 10-15 hours battery life. Just playing video files on VLC player and nothing else going on I get 8-9 hours at best. The Retina screen eats up power at QHD resolution. You can get 10-15 hours of battery life on a Mac if you don’t use the screen – Ha Ha.- Hardware incompatibility is the Achille’s Heel of the Mac. Trying to get your external monitor recognized on boot is an issue with the M1 chip. Trying to get a (gaming) USB keyboard and mouse to work is a comedy of errors. USB-C hubs which work fine on my Windows machines are buggy on the Mac. I can’t charge thru the hubs on the Mac, even though one hub is designed for the Mac. If I try to charge thru the hub, the keyboard and mouse hooked up to the hub goes dead. To revive them, I have to shut down completely and reboot.- No way to upgrade RAM or storage on the Mac, as the chips are soldered to the motherboard. My MSI came with 32GB of DDR5 PC4800 RAM, and a 1TB PCIE Gen4x4 SSD. Both are user upgradeable. The SSD on the MSI gets 7000/5000 read/write scores. I hear on the Macbook Air M1, you are lucky to hit 2500/2500.- No touchscreen on the Mac.- No 2-in-1 screen positioning on the Mac, or capability to use a WACOM pencil to draw on the screen.- No full HD webcam like on my MSI.- No infra-red camera like on my MSI, for facial recognition.- The MSI has 4-way noise cancellation mikes, Tobii aware software, Dolby audio.- Two Thunderbird 4 ports on the MSI, versus two TB3 ports on the Mac.- HDMI port on the MSI, so no need a USB-C hub.- 16:10, thin bezel QHD screen on the MSI, at 600 nits versus 450 on the Mac.Now granted, you are comparing a 2022 Intel laptop with the latest tech advances to a Mac built in 2020.Basically, if you are really into the latest, greatest high tech features on your laptop, and the ability to upgrade (for cheap), you have to go with Intel/Windows machines.I have heard about how much better the audio is on an Apple machine, but for some reason, I prefer my Windows laptops. Decent quality audio files sound somewhat shrill and bright on the Mac. There seems to be better resolution (can hear background vocals a bit clearer), however the Windows machine sounds cleaner and more foregiving, with a bit of air and transparency. The Mac sounds clinical. It’s like the Mac is a solid state amp and the Windows machine a tube amp. Some of my Windows machines are running Nahimic audio, some MaxxAudio Pro.So due to the overrated battery life, the hardware issues, and the somewhat harsh and bright audio of the Mac, I am underwhelmed. Still 8-9 hours of battery life is better than the 4.5 hours I am getting at best on my Intel machines, to say nothing about the chronic overheating issues with their gaming laptops. Also sick and tired of Windows, with their weekly cumulative updates taking around 2 hours to download and install.Oh well, I guess there is no perfect laptop.

Best Mac I’ve Ever Owned
I’ve owned two MacBook Pros and two iMacs. This Mac is, by far, the best one I’ve ever had. The battery life is longer the smooth integration of the hardware and software is incredible, even more than other Macs. I have the 16GB version with 512 gig SDD. I would go with the 16GB but the SSD doesn’t need to be larger than 256 when used with the cloud.

Great Purchase for an Open Box Macbook Air M1
I was hesitant to purchase this MacBook air since it is the first time I bought an open-box item of this price tag from a seller outside of Amazon. However, the experience was way better than what I anticipated.Having said that, the laptop arrived on time, with no issues. The shipping box was mangled by UPS but the actual box of the laptop was intact. the packaging was original and all the items were opened (as expected). The machine was factory reset. the only odd thing that happened is that the laptop was powered on when the package arrived and makes me wonder if they took the time to do the factory reset and forget to completely power it off when it was shipped? Amazingly, it still had 60% of change left and once I reviewed the battery stats, it only had 4 battery cycles done. The machine is perfect for my needs, the M1 platform is amazing, it takes some time to get used to the compatibility layers needed to run some applications using Rossetta, but overall great purchase. the price reduction was significant to risk buying an open box unit and to be honest, I would repurchase it from Adorama.

Worth the money
I replaced my 10 year old MacBook Pro with the newest 13 inch Air model and it is a pleasure to use. It is two inches smaller than my old Pro, but I hardly notice the difference. The Air is lightning fast for me, but I am not a power user. The screen looks great and keyboard feels like nothing else out there. The track pad does take a little getting uses to as it works slightly different than previous generations. And there are only two USB C ports on the side, so you will have to buy a separate dock to attach regular USB or HDMI. But docks are cheap and come with a variety of port combos based on your needs. I got a small one for $30 right here on Amazon. I even found one in Space Gray to match my Air. Yes, MacBooks cost more. But in this case, you absolutely what you pay for.

Was what I expected
This M1 MacBook Air is as advertised. Much snappier than older Intel Macs. I wish I had waited a couple more weeks so I could have gotten the M2 version when the M3 version came out. But that’s minor issue. It works great good for a travel laptop.

Dependable, efficient, light compact, excellent cloud integration…
I’ve been doing writing on my windows laptop, and the cloud service (One Drive) combined with the windows file system has been driving me crazy. So I was forced to get a mac, which I hate to do. But For writing and travel, this machine is perfect! It’s small, has a nice screen and keyboard, doesn’t get hot, has a long lasting battery, and iCloud. ICloud may not be perfect, but it’s lightyears ahead of One Drive. This model in particular, however is the sweet spot because it uses more than 8GB of memory all the time! 16GB is needed sorely if you don’t want your machine abusing the SSD all the time. You also get the 512BG SSD which is really essential for an actual laptop. 256 GB is tablet league. So if you’re a Windows user and you dislike the macOS, and mac prices, take a look at this one. It’s actually pretty good value on the hardware (finally) and as long as you don’t want to game, this thing is perfect!

Efficient and Silent
For some reason the internet is full of reviews talking about the power of this new M1. It will not blow you away at every turn. What it will do is sip on power while getting the job done. It is a bit small but I knew that going in. Purchased 2 docks, one for the office and one for the travel bag. Has done a great job so far as a work laptop.

Laptop came in great condition. Only complaint that I have is the fact that the box came slightly opened. I was worried someone tried to steal it but luckily it wasn’t. UPS didn’t ship it with care 100%.
