Great watch with awesome battery life

I really love the action button and the flat screen. My favorite band is the trail loop. The battery life is great, I only have to charge it once every 2 – 3 days. Phone calls sound clear and the other person can hear me clearly.I’m not too worried about damaging this watch. It’s durable and I have added Apple Care+ for additional protection.

    Its large.

Use it for long walks. The volume on calls is higher than my old version 4 watch. Learning what else I can use it for. Like the nightstand function.

    Great gift

Gave it as a Christmas gift and it was a hit. My husband keeps finding more special features we didn’t know it had. Great quality Apple product!

    Best watch ever for biometrics

I bought two different loops over the past three years thinking they were top-of-the-line for sleeping analysis and other biometrics. I’m a position and I came to the conclusion they’re completely junk. I once woke up sick as a dog and told me I had a 94% recovery, so that was my last straw. So I finally broke down and bought an Apple Watch and this thing just continues to amaze me. The problem with Whoop is it’s all about last night and not much about right now where the ultra 2 is all about everything.

Good watch despite battery and vendor lock-in

The watch has been great for tracking activity ( steps, brisk walks, and standing) as well as a convenient way to respond to notifications from apps quickly. The vendor requirement to own a phone from them to get features in the phone is disappointing and the battery needs charged more often than I’d like. Overall a nice item.

    Amazing Watch

I really like this watch – so much better than my previous Apple Watch (Series 5). There were three features that convinced me to buy this watch: 1) brightness, 2) battery life 3) Oxygen Sensor. As you all probably know by now, it looks like Apple is going to remove the Oxygen Sensor – not happy about that. This is why I am only giving two stars for the “Value for Money” – I hope that Apple provides us some compensation for the loss of this feature. Only time will tell….

Best smartwatch, bar none. Now bigger, brighter, and tougher.

My first Apple watch, a Gen 5, was a surprise birthday gift from my family. It wasn’t something I was thinking about, as I’ve been a fan of analog, solar-powered watches for years. And I didn’t care for the way the early Apple watches went dark when you weren’t looking at them, nor the need to charge a battery every day. But I loved that Apple watch (still do, my wife now wears it happily). I found it incredibly handy, especially after moving to work-from-home due to the pandemic — picking up phone calls and keeping up with Outlook tasks is huge. AND, weirdly, the pesky “activity rings” encouraged me to get back into an exercise routine (just to shut them up) and I lost weight that had been bothering me for years. As a result, I’ve really gotten involved in the Apple health environment, linking my scale and tracking my various measurements. It’s been a great motivator to keep improving my physical shape. So, why the big, expensive Ultra? We do like to get outdoors (kayaking and nature photography here in Florida) so I’ve got a use for a durable, GPS-enabled device. And that Gen 5 was a little small for my maturing eyes. This watch handles all of that, and offers even more health data (Blood O2, etc.). And it hasn’t disappointed.LikesLooks — important in a watch. I’m not a huge guy, but all this “It’s too BIG” hullabaloo is nonsense. It looks terrific on my wrist and is just as comfortable to wear as the smaller Gen 5 watch (thank you, titanium/ceramic construction).Productivity — It would be hard to go back to having to check my phone for calendar reminders, weather activity updates, etc. And even without a paid cell plan, the Ultra of course lets you answer calls on your wrist so long as your phone is nearby. It’s a great help in a work-from-home environment. So many complications! The larger face on the Ultra 2 allows more complications, in a more readable fashion, and the Ultra-specific watch faces show them off to great effect. I don’t know if I need to know my altitude, compass heading, number of steps, outside temp, day, date, time, battery status, and upcoming Outlook tasks all at once, but I really enjoy having that ability now.OutdoorsI’ve used the Ultra for exercise tracking (works great, of course) and it’s had no trouble banging around the yard, but so far no nautical outings or hikes to test the backtrack or other GPS features to track distance (and keep you from getting lost!). But I’m sure glad to have them.BatteryI mean, more would be better, but my Gen 5 was running out of juice after about 15 hours, and the Ultra 2 is generally in the 70-80% range after the same period. I still charge it every night, but I don’t worry about it giving up before then as I was starting to have to do.Not So LikesNone really so far. Okay, paying iPhone money for a watch is a lot. But to be fair, it’s not hard to spend what the Ultra 2 costs on either a fancy outdoors watch like a Fenix/Garmin, or a more traditional high-tech watch like a Citizen, or a really nice looking watch from whomever. To me, this one covers it all. Attractive titanium case, Sapphire crystal, water resistant enough for diving; tough enough to take out boating or hiking, all in a multi-billion-transistor wrist computer with dozens of customizable watch faces, a compass, altimeter, depth gauge, heart monitor, blood oxygen sensor, sleep and exercise tracker, appointment reminder, music player and wrist telephone. Phew. And yes, it tells time, more accurately than a $200,000 Rolex that can’t access the Internet. And it doesn’t need to be reset twice a year for Daylight Savings Time. I wish the Apple bands were more plentiful and less expensive. I got the comfy Trail Loop, but it would be nice to have the Ocean too without paying another $99. But I’ve been wearing my existing silicone sport bands most of the time (large Gen 5-up bands fit perfectly) and Amazon has a staggering number of Ultra-compatible watch bands available (picked up a really nice SS mesh band for business outings for $27 and a leather one for about the same).Bottom lineIf you have an iPhone, an Apple smartwatch is a no-brainer. Yes, it’s another thing to charge at night, but you’re already doing that. And it is almost odd how handy it is having so much information available on your wrist — once you have it, you won’t want to be without it. I also think the exercise integrations are huge, whether you’re a hardcore gym rat, or just need to make sure you didn’t sit in a chair all day — being able to track your improvements is a great motivator. It’s been a game changer for me. I literally exercise in part to watch my “numbers” improve. Weird, but true.As for the Ultra — the name’s a bit much, and the price is steep, but if you want MORE of what Apple smart watches can do, in a bigger, more attractive, sturdier, more capable package, this is a great piece of gear. I couldn’t be more pleased.Five big, smart stars.

Love the Ultra 2, awesome watch!

I love the ultra 2. I had the series 1 but the screen popped off after 6 years of daily wear. I bought the series 7 when the series 8 came out knowing that I ultimately wanted the Ultra. I finally broke down and bought the Ultra 2 after reading rumors that the Ultra 3 probably wouldn’t come out until 2025. We’ll see.The Ultra 2 is everything I hoped it would be. It’s an awesome watch. I’ll say it’s not much different than my series 7, but I think it’s worth it. Although I have an average size wrist, I’ve always preferred larger watches.I’ll be keeping the series 7, as it is lighter and smaller, therefore more comfortable to sleep with. I’m hoping both of these will last me at least six years, like the series 1 did. Time will tell.I’ve included pics of the Ultra 2 and Series 7 for size comparison.

Expensive but very fully featured and easy to read

I’ve owned every apple watch model ever made and I’d say this one nails it in terms of general usability and battery life. Battery life on apple watches is still far from perfect (in comparison to analog or other digital watches) but the Ultra series at least makes it not a “charge it every day or it will be dead” proposition, and the brightness of the Ultra 2 is excellent. It is also rugged and can climb and dive with you (I have not taken it particularly deep, but it’s been good down to 30ft or so in free diving). Feels like a watch you can have adventures with.

Great upgrade over my Apple Watch 6

I have been eyeballing this watch since its Gen 1 release. I finally pulled the trigger when the rumors started that Apple might have to pull them off the shelf due to a patent infringement lawsuit. All of a sudden the prices dropped and I knew I had to buy it.The jury is still out on the band. Don’t get me wrong, love the look and the fit. The problem is I run a lot, and the cloth band can get rather gross after several miles of running. So far I have been able to keep it pretty clean just by hand washing it, and several videos suggest you can throw it I the wash as long as you put it in a garment bag. Plus, worse case is I buy a different band, like one of the Nike rubber ones.I love the battery life. Even with super heavy use I get a good 48ish hours between charges. Now I can use my watch to track my sleep at night. Charging is also pretty fast as long as you use a 5v charger. Typical charge time seems to be around 30min if I am at 25% battery. The titanium case is also a marked improvement. Even though it’s much larger physically than my old Apple Watch 6 it feels way lighter. And I have banged mine around a bit at the gym and on the road and it still has no noticeable scratches at all in the case or glass.

    Excellent backup dive computer

As the second iteration of the Apple Watch Ultra, most of the capabilities in the watch are well-known at this point. It’s chunky, but high-tech. If you’re in the Apple ecosystem, it’s an amazing way to get alerts, unlocks your Macbook since it stays authenticated as long as it’s touching your skin and can be an auth token, and measure non-medical-grade health metrics. The battery life is great. Many days the battery only drops 10-20% for a full 12 hours use. I use it to ping my misplaced iPhone in the sofa cushions all the time. The biggest reason for me getting the Ultra 2 vs. the non-Ultra Apple Watches is to use it as a SCUBA backup. computer. It’s accurate on depth and temperature as compared to my Suunto Eon Steel. The screen is bright and easy to read. Things like haptic safety stops is a nice feature. I do hope they offer air integration in the future. I’m very happy with my Ultra 2. It’s a daily wear item for me for casual dress and business casual. I wouldn’t wear it with dresses and heels, but I don’t have reasons to dress up much.

    Better than I thought

Getting about 72 hours of battery life to pleasantly surprised. Nice to have health info schedule and weather all on one screen. Two little issues1) when I say hey siri I never know whether the watch or phone will respond. Even when I hold the watch to my face sometimes the watch will stay quiet and the phone will respond from my pocket – but then can’t hear the rest of what I said2) the little finger click gesture – they have some major bugs to work out on that. Works about 10% of the time for meOtherwise works great. Very customizable. Nearly infinite watch faces available. Expensive but if you have a busy life and or health issues and want to track steps activity heart rhythm heart rate O2 and get alerts from various sources on your wrist that is all worth it IMHO.Only real negative is the included magnetic charger stopped working within a week. So buy a backup. A pittance in cost compared to the watch but irritating

    Really good watch, but price???

I didn’t purchase this watch with my own money but I was lucky enough Chase reward points, but this is an EXPENSIVE watch. I used to own an Apple Watch Series 3 and was looking for an upgrade. I was either going to get a series 9 or the new Ultra 2. I ended up splurging on the ultra 2 and honestly it’s an extremely good watch. I’m personally a very clumsy person and my Series 3 looked like it has been through a war or two however, the titanium makes this watch super durable and almost resistant to dinks and scratches. Another thing the battery life! One of the best features of this watch, I usually charge the batter every 1.5 days and if I’m lucky sometimes even 2 days. The heart rate tracking pings a lot more so you’re able to get much more accurate tracking and this is great if you’re into fitness. I’m not really a diver, marathon runner, etc, but this watch for day to day use is definitely over kill. If you’re considering this watch I would just recommend you figure out your priorities on why you want it. I also love being able to use this for sleep tracking every night without needing a charge beforehand. Overall if you have the money I would say get it, but if you’re looking for a better price Series 9 or even older is the way to go.

    I love it

I love my new watch. Like a few people have said, it is a little on the heavy side, but not so much so that it’s uncomfortable to wear or even noticeable, honestly. At least not after you’ve put it on and wearing it, you don’t even realize the weight after about 5 minutes of wearing it. So, if you’re hesitant in making this purchase based on it being heavy, don’t let that stop you from enjoying this watch. It’s not at all that bothersome. They features are all great. The “fall detection “ can be a tad bit annoying any time you bonk your hand on something, or smack the newspaper down on a hard surface to gain your dog’s attention lol you’ve gotta stop what you’re doing and tell it you’re okay and to not call rescue lol. Other than that, I couldn’t be happier with it!! Highly recommend

    Love this bigger watch.

Always used Apple Watch since 2018. Last Apple Watch I had for three years thought to upgrade to this one. It was well worth Upgrade love the huge display. The biggest thing is the battery life I can easily get two days out of it. Where is the my iPhone need charges at least the 15 Pro Max at least two times a day.

    Exactly What I Expected

I’m an older guy but still exercise, hike, walk, etc. I’ve had knee replacements on both knees with the last one being just a few weeks ago. I’ve had several Garmin’s, my last a Venu 2. I had problems keeping them synced to my iPhones but loved the long battery life. I wanted something with fall detection, the ECG feature and would play nice with my iPhone 14. I’ve not been disappointed. It is so easy to use compared to my Garmin. Battery life is not nearly as good but charging it about every 3rd day has not bothered me at all.I did have a chance to test the fall detection. The night after my surgery while in the hospital I got up and due to a nerve block my leg gave way and I went to the floor. My Ultra 2 immediately said fall detected and was I okay. Fortunately I was. I hope it never happens again but if it does I know it works.

He loves his new Apple Scuba Diving Watch

So, I decided to take my Apple Watch Ultra 2 on a deep-sea adventure, and let me tell you, it’s not just a smartwatch; it’s a certified scuba buddy! As I descended into the abyss, I half-expected it to transform into a mini submarine – alas, it didn’t, but it did keep track of my dive time like a champ. The underwater experience was so immersive that I almost asked Siri for the best seafood restaurants in the area. I mean, if you’re going to dive deep, might as well plan a fantastic post-dive meal, right? The water-resistant feature worked like a charm, and my watch emerged from the depths drier than a desert. I almost felt sorry for it, wondering if it missed the thrill of a good splash. Perhaps Apple should consider adding a “water play” mode to satisfy its aquatic cravings. Now, if only it had a fish translation app – imagine having a chat with a curious clownfish about the latest updates in the tech world. “Have you heard about the new iPhone Fishbowl Edition?” I’d ask. Who knows, they might be tech enthusiasts too.In conclusion, the Apple Watch Ultra 2 isn’t just a timekeeper; it’s a fearless underwater companion, a potential gourmet guide, and possibly a future diplomat in the fish community. Dive on, my friends, and may your underwater adventures be as entertaining as Siri’s attempts to decipher dolphin clicks!

    Nice

this is the best watch Apple has made so far, very durable and feels great on the arm, a little expensive, but worth it, I have an apple watch series 7 45mm and a series 9 45mm, those are both great watches, but I wanted something bigger and I love this one.

Great product but not for everyone.

I love this as a smart watch just like any other apple watch, but its more than that. This one was especially good for me for its dive computer feature, which came in quite useful in Mexico a few months ago. That part worked great at 30m and I couldn’t recommend it more!

  35. Tommy Farrell

    4.0 out of 5 stars

    It’s expensive!

I bought the ultra 2 to replace my series 5 which shattered when I dropped it. I’m hoping it is a lot tougher than a series 9 which is about half the price and has all the features I need. I have had one problem with the watch going crazy switching between apps and entering passcodes on its own and not being able to stop it. It did this for about 20 minutes but stopped when I put the watch on the charger. The ultra 2 is a large watch and will stick up on your wrist making it easy to bump on things.

    My first

This is my first Apple Watch and my father and grandfather both had heart attacks. My grandfather died young due to a heart attack. Figuring that genetics is playing games with us I thought this would help even out the odds. So far it tells me the time and reminds me that the wife is the boss so in her eyes it is the best gift she has ever given me. Essentially it keeps me alive so she can kick my a$$ longer! Yay! So much fun.

    Beautiful piece of tech

I bought it 2 weeks ago. I thought it would be hideous but useful. I was completely wrong. I’m an outdoors kind of guy and it works wonderfully when I run cycle snorkel in the sea, swim laps in the pool and more. The bands and watch faces can be changed to make it work for smarter occasions. I bought a third party titanium band and put a smart watch face on the screen and now it looks nice and spiff.I highly recommend this product!

    Ultra Means Ultra

This purchase was a gift to myself with an Amazon gift card for 40 years of service at my company. I love the look and functionality of this Apple Watch and the quality really is ultra. I appreciate the larger screen real estate on the Ultra because you can see it better and can add more complications to the bigger screen. I’m very happy with this purchase.

Insane battery life – not worth it over Ultra 1

If you can get Ultra 1 at a decent price, just go buy that one. If you have Ultra 1, don’t upgrade. If this is your first Ultra, then yes! I bought this for my dad, he loves it. Battery life is insane (2-3 days) and it’s rugged so he won’t break it. Highly recommend it especially if you can find it on a discount.

    POOR AMAZON SERVICE

Great watch with new features. My only criticism is to warn you do not buy Apple products from Amazon. I returned this watch UNOPENED to Amazon and 5 weeks later have yet to receive a refund. Even tho my orders page indicates item returned and I am due a refund. Already in dispute with AMEX.

I love this watch a lot more than I thought I would

Battery life lasts well over a day for my use. The watch is beautiful, not heavy at all (compared to my series 6 stainless steel watch), and performs as expected from an Apple product.

    Love this watch

I needed this upgrade because the microphone in the other versions went out over time – probably because I wear it in the shower. So far, so good.

    Cheap band

It’s an Apple Watch. You know what you are getting. The band it came with feels really cheap. But I took a nice metal band from my previous watch which was a direct fit.

    Battery life improved

I’ve had an Apple Watch Series 2 and a Series 6. My complaint with them is the battery life. Apple Ultra 2 Series has a much better battery life so not constantly having to put it on the charger.

Love my new watch and the increased battery life

I had an older iwatch but got tired of having to charge sometime up to twice a day. The new ultra last 30 hours, recharges reasonably fast and it’s slightly larger and very much brighter display makes it easier to read.

    The best yet….

I get 3 and a half days of battery life with this monster! Really cool and I put a big GShock looking band on it and everyone notices. The always on screen is the 5h1t and is clear and bright. It does do the blood oxygen stuff as well and I am very impressed….. This is very dumb not to upgrade to if you have the resources.

    Consider before buying

Very nice watch. I honestly have no overall complaints. The basic apps (or complications) seem to work fine. A few new ones are quite nice. For me, there are a few apps I could really use on the watch but require them to be opened on my phone to work. This kinda defeats the purpose of having them on your watch. For the price I expected a bit more but its durability makes it a great watch for the outdoors – providing you keep your phone handy.

    Amazing

I bought the silver stainless steel series 9, and it just didn’t quite seem like a worthy upgrade. This one is truly an amazing upgrade from any series of Apple Watch.

    I love the watch!

I upgraded from Aw gen 2. This Ultra 2 is awesome! Same features as older watches just must smoother! Watch face is 49mm so it is a lot easier to scroll and use the apps. Apps run great.Watch band is nice, but I need to get a new one due to offsets sweat from exercise. I plan to spend the money for an Apple band. Yes the bands are $99, which is very high for a band, I wouldn’t want to put a band on the watch that doesn’t match the quality.Overall, Go for it! Buy the watch! Enjoy 😎
