Inexpensive and quiet
I was looking for a inexpensive quality PSU This fit the bill. My previous PSU went bad and I needed something quickly. The old PSU was RM750x. This PSU is almost half it’s size. Making it a lot easier to install. The rest is just plug and play. Couldn’t be easier.

Terrible Coil Whine Until Suddenly …
I was slow to review this unit after picking it up back in July. I’m running this with my AMD 7600X and Radeon 6950XT on AM5. After I initially set it up, I noticed a horrible coil whine whenever the system didn’t have any video playing or otherwise stressing the computer. The second a video would play or a game would launch, the whine would go away. This was extremely frustrating as the pitch would fluctuate making it hard to tune out. Assuming this to be a faulty unit, I returned and received a replacement. Even after a replacement, this went on more or less the same for months even swapping this into a completely different computer. Now 6 months later, the noise has almost entirely disappeared without any real explanation. There is still some coil whine but barely audible over even low speed fans. I had heard of burn-in fixing coil whine but 6 months feels excessive. While today I’m happy with the power supply, it wasn’t without months of annoyance. I’ve used Corsair power supplies for year but I’d be unlikely to recommend it to others. It’s frustrating when the brand continues to offer a great value and generally good product but has hit or miss issues like these.

Works great
Has all of the slots and ports I needed for my build. However, it only comes with 2 GPU cables. My set up required 3 GPU cables, so I had to order an additional one. I haven’t had any issues or even noticed it making any sound at all.

Works properly, feels robust
Admittedly, I typically buy Corsair PSUs because I have rarely had an issue with them. I bought this PSU to give a bit power power headroom to a 7900xtx GPU that I have. The PSU has had no issues and does what it is supposed to do. Not particularly an “FPS gain” or anything, but I feel better about powering an expensive GPU than I did before.

awesome PSU for plenty of headroom and future upgrades.
A simple and efficient unit, what more do ya want? It’s future-ready, reliable, and quiet. I’ve been an EVGA guy my whole life, but after my 850 Supernova GT started to go, I needed something high-power delivered that very same day. I’ve had this unit for 6 months at time of writing, and it’s doing great!

Seems to be really good from what I can tell.
I don’t really have PSU testing tools, so I defer any serious considerations to them, but this model does have a lot of shining reviews by those who do have the tools (though of course reviews have to always be taken with a grain of salt. Or a whole shaker even these days.)What I can tell is that it has all the outward signs of a quality PSU. It’s quite hefty for its size, seems to have a good fan, etc etc. When I measure things like voltage via software (not sure how reliable that is, but it’s the best I have,) they seem to be more stable than my previous PSUs.One curiosity I don’t really know how to explain is it has an extra relay inside doing who knows what. When you first turn things on, it’s already able to handle the full power draw of the computer, so it’s not like it’s a low power switch for suspending or something — it’s straight to 100% before the relay even switches. I’m wondering if it switches on a capacitor after initial startup pull to handle power blinks and the like while avoiding that huge sudden instant draw you’d normally get, but this is merely a guess. All in all I’m very much liking it. It’s a tiny bit more compact to also work with smaller systems, but also fits fine in my mid tower (these days I guess that’s considered a full tower, lol.) The modular cables work fairly well, though I wish the parts that can be put together or pulled apart (like the CPU power connector) snapped together more firmly so you don’t have to carefully hold them together while inserting. I was pleasantly surprised it even included the latest 12VHPWR type-4 connector.I guess if I had to try to choose something to complain about, I wish the power efficiency curve was a bit friendlier towards the low end. Most people aren’t actually using anywhere near to 850 watts of power (a lot of people would be very shocked if they plugged their computers into a Kill-a-Watt or similar meter!) For most people normal usage and light gaming is easily going to fall into the bottom side of the curve and get somewhere in the vicinity of 75% efficiency. Ideally one would pick a PSU that more aligns with what the system actually uses (taking care to ensure sufficient current of course) but I can say I picked this one because I needed a PSU I could keep for many years to come and pretty much not even have to think about it no matter what I added to my system (within reason of course. I’m not likely to be adding any of the highest end CPUs or GPUs and especially not dual GPUs which is where one is most likely to start to actually get up to numbers closer to 850.)I think most people will never come even close to fully utilizing this PSU making it a great option for a huge variety of systems (albeit at the cost of some efficiency loss for most.) From what I can tell I think we can count on it to hold up over time. Even the fan should be decent enough to not die too easily. Especially since most of the time on systems that aren’t pushing it really hard the fan runs extremely quietly at a lower RPM.

Another well done product from Corsair…
Used in a new build, Lian Li 011 Dynamic EVO RGB case, i7-14000K, RTX 4070 Super. The form, fit, and function is typical of Corsair products. I have used “only” Corsair PSU’s & memory for over a decade. I was a little reluctant to used this PSU because it is “new” style but after completing build I recommend highly.Small form factor made wiring a breeze in this case. Will be buying an RM1000e for upcoming build with RTX 4080 Super.

Bad 12V rail or maybe bad luck
Brand new PC wouldn’t POST, so I checked the PSU with a tester. The -12V rail was coming in at -13.6 V. I exchanged this PSU with another brand new RM850e, but tested it prior to installing. Once again, -12V rail coming in at -13.6 V.At this point, I suspected there was another issue as what are the chances two new units would suffer from the same problem. I verfied that the tester and cables were good on a known working PSU and even tried new cables, outlets, and surge protectors just to be sure. The issue only appears with the RM850e.Ultimately, I don’t know if I’m doing something wrong or what. It seems very unlikely to me that two units would have a problem on the -12V rail and read out the exact same out-of-tolerance voltage. However, I don’t really see any other way to connect the RM850e to the tester with the supplied cables. I mean, there’s a single mobo cable suppled with a 24-pin end and a 18+10-pin end, and between the PSU and tester (or mobo) there’s a single 24-pin connection and a single 18+10-pin connection.Just be aware that there may be a common fault with a certain vintage or SN run of these. So far I’m 2/2 with these being DoA (or me being stupid)… don’t think I’ll try my luck for 3.Update: Bought a totally different PSU which passed the tester. However, still wouldn’t boot, so I ended up also having to replace the mobo, and now everything works fine. I can’t say for sure what the problem was. Could be both RM850e’s were bad along with the mobo (seems very unlikely)… could be one of the RM850e’s damaged the mobo. Based on my experience with the RM850e, I don’t recommend it. You’re at a higher than average risk of failure. I’d like to know if Corsair has (or will have) identified a design or component fault with these.

Excellent! Works with Corsair Type 4 Sleeved Cables
I bought this to upgrade a Corsair 650 RM I purchased in 2020. With that build, I also bought the Corsair individually sleeved braided cable set. To upgrade, I left all the cables in place and just swapped the PSU, connecting the existing cables to the new RM850e. Of note, the 2023 RM850e is also smaller than the RM650 I upgraded, so it fits into my compact Corsair ICUE 220T case even better.Included 12VHPWR cable for the new 12+4 pin connectors on modern GPUs is flat, and I purchased the sleeved braided version for 30 bucks to go with the rest of my cables.Using this to power an AMD 5800X3D and RTX 4070 TI Super on an MSI X570 MEG Unify motherboard with 32gb RAM. The RM650 would probably have been sufficient, but I wanted a higher wattage PSU just in case, and I’m really happy with the RM850e. Price was great too.

Kind of noisy
Since I installed it I noticed a strange noise it made, apparently the fan is of poor quality and quite noisy. The PCIe5 cable that have seems stiff enough. Other than that, everything is good so far. Almost 3 months of use.

Quiet 850
Replaced an older 600w. I was taken back how small it was compared to the one it replaced. Currently in a mid sized case. I can see this fitting in smaller builds. No fan noise at all. I do hate the flat cables. They are short. I might consider some extensions. I do not build aestheticly (solid case, no glass) but the CPU cable just fits for me.

The Best Gold Rated Power Supply Under $200
Perfect for a mid to high range gaming build, comes with all the cables you should need, and the fully modular design allows for reducing clutter (pending your case and cable management). Even includes power cables for a 4090, no adapters required, and additional CPU power for those who need that extra voltage. Runs quiet 90% of the time unless under heavy load, and lifted my build overall from good to great with the stability this unit provides.

Skeptical, But Great
I was worried 1000w wouldn’t satisfy my 4090 and AM5, but this little box proved me wrong. Not only is it enough, it allowed me to overclock to a significant degree. Modularity is great, but be careful with the new connectors. Do your research! Don’t plug anything in if you don’t know exactly what it’s for. I nearly fried my board a few times putting round pegs in square holes because I thought I was smarter than ATX 3.0

Excellent power supply… if you’re not picky about noise at idle.
I researched my purchase and was very excited to snag a Corsair RM850e at a good price. As I expected, this thing is built like a tank with high quality materials, sleek packaging, heavy gauge modular wiring harnesses, and known good performance. There’s only one problem, and it’s a bit of a deal breaker if you care about noise. The fan makes a rapid clicking sound at low RPMs. It’s not particularly loud, but if you’re in a quiet environment it’s VERY noticeable – it’s not like any of the other computer fans I’ve ever owned. Imagine if you had a stray ziptie just barely touching your CPU fan blades as it spun – that’s the closest I can think of.Long story short, love Corsair and its power supplies, but they should look at changing the fan on this one. None of the competing PSUs seem to have this problem. If your computer sits under a desk in a noisy office or loud city, you’ll probably never notice. Otherwise, be aware it idles loud.

Well I wish I not bought the older models PS, but oh well. NOT that I will ever use that 24vdc cable for NVIDIA, screw NVIDIA, they lost me for life. This unit is nice, sure cables suck, but you get what you pay for. I wonder if they would ever sell one minus the cables and / or you could buy custom cables. Seems a waste of money to buy this and buy better cables. and they just go to waste oh well. user choice I guess. works perfect on setup and powered the AMD 7900 XTX video card so far so good. Works well.

Not compatible with RX 7900XTX out of the box
There are only 2 PCIe 8 pin cables in the box, so if your graphics cards requires 3 PCIe 8 pin cables, you will need to order an additional cable separately ($15 after shipping). Cables are fairly stiff (less flexible than my EVGA PSU) making routing them more difficult. My previous PSU came with a small bag to put the extra cables in that weren’t being used but this one doesn’t come with anything to store the extra cables in.

Replaced, First one Not so Quiet
I had to return the first one of these because right out of the box the fan made a low level clicking sound when ever it kicked in. The replacement does the same, but almost imperceptible and now acceptable level. But not dead quiet. The amount of power plug slots is impressive. On my new full top of the line, all AMD PC build, I had power slots to spare.Contacted manufacture about sound, very helpful folks. Manufacture stated that there should only be a small click when fan first started up. My experiences was that it was that clicking was there as long as the fan was on. Given how deadly quite my pc build is, this sound stands out as the only sound coming from the PC even while running at normal game stressors.Manufacture stated that amazon would cross ship a replacement so that I would not have to lose the use of my new computer. This did not turn out to be the case. I had to order a replacement, swap it out then do a return.

Does its job, but plagued with coil whine
The media could not be loaded.
Built my pc about 2 months back and picked up this power supply as the reviews seemed good and it was at a low price. I sometimes noticed a very quiet whine from the psu but brushed it off as it was basically unnoticeable unless you were behind the pc case for whatever reason. However, I’ve noticed the coil whine has gotten louder since then and it’s gotten to the point where turning the pc on will result in noticeable whine that can even drown out the fans and other parts. I’ve reached out to Corsair to return it.While looking online it appears that coil whine is an apparent issue with the rme series, something to do with the quality of the capacitors. I may pick up an rmx instead.

Good quality, latest revision
Feels like quality. Every Corsair PS I’ve bought in the past has lasted forever with no issues. It’s a new (2023) revision or whatever so it’s all ready for newer graphics cards and ATX 3.0 whatever that is. And it’s shorter than other 1000w power supplies, that really helps when building in some cases. My only issue was the extremely stiff motherboard power cable, you can barely bend it so hiding it completely is impossible because you can’t get a sharp bend right at the connector.

Good With Some Caveats For The Cabling
I upgraded from an 8-year-old 750W Corsair power supply due to the new Nivida video cards needing more power. The modular cables were nice BUT they were noticeably shorter than the cables from my old Corsair! It took some finagling to stretch the CPU cable to barely reach the bottom of my full-size case. Secondly, the new Corsair only included one 12VHPWR cable despite that being one of the new ATX 3.0 features. Sure, I can get adapters for the PCI-E power cables, but that seems to be an odd/cheap oversight by Corsair.Otherwise, the new Corsair fan is noticeably more quiet and only runs when needed. It’s also nice to have extra space in the case since I only used the minimum number of cables.

Seems fine.
This is replacing a previous power supply that I was worried that was about to fail. It seems to work fine. The only downside is that this has Taiwan capacitors and not the preferred Japanese ones. That’s on me though for not researching this enough. Get the 1000x if you want Japanese caps and three more years warranty to ten years. The 1000x was at the time just around 9 dollars more than this. Will see if this lasts I sure hope it does.

Replaced old psu on kids PC, took some work to get cables plugged in and sort, old psu just have to plug into hardware, new one have more ends to cables, means more connections, but I guess everything has to be made better lol, probably more issues down the road, after installation PC would power cycle, checked that all motherboard plugs were seated, I know they were, jiggled them around helped, kid used PC 2 days, took PC home, and was experiencing the same issue, jiggled the same plugs on motherboard, and issue was gone

Fixed Issues – GPU “hum”
EDIT:After days of testing, I am even more shocked as how stable frame rate is.I had no idea there was such direct correlation between good frame rate and PSU.Original review:This fixed issues I had with GPU “hum”If you have an expensive GPU don’t “cheap” your power supply source. My 6950 had a fan “hum” or “whining” sound at mid level RPMHere is the interesting part, I would get micro frame drop, and a matching “hum” or “whining” pitch change.I can say with confidence that both frame drops are considerable less, and the hum and whining are gone.Keep in mind I was using a 1300 gold rated power supply. However is an AGT brand, and I would say pay double and get some name brand such as this one.

Works great shipping was poor
I love Corsair and their power supplies. The modular cables make for great cable management and this thing is quite as hell. However, Amazon shipped this without a shipping box. They just slapped a shipping label on the retail packaging and called it a day. The box was beat up and it was exposed on my porch making it a prime target for porch pirates. Next time I’ll buy on newegg for better security. Such a disappointment Amazon.
