    Very good starter system

This is a very good starter system for anyone setting up a surround sound. The satellite speakers are slightly larger than I expected and the subwoofer is plenty loud with good range considering it’s only an 8 inch unit. This is hooked up to a 5.2 sony receiver and definitely doesn’t disappoint in a small to medium size room.

    The subwoofer sound is scratchy

Subwoofer is last item to remove from the box. Top of subwoofer top had a scratch about 1″ long. Subwoofer wrapping paper arrangement gave the appearance it had been removed from box then returned to box. Sub woofer sound is scratchy. Followed instructions to the letter but the sound was poor quality. The 4 wall mount speakers and 1 center of the speaker were well wrapped and deliver a full clear sound, mounted easily per instructions. I will not use the subwoofer, it will interfere with the sound from the surround speakers. Kept the original JBL 8″ subwoofer in place. It & the surround speakers work well together. Smooth & mellow, or loud vibrate the walls. Voice, Bass guitar, & other instruments clear at all sound levels.

Great Sound at a Great Price

We are in the process of remodeling the house so I decided it was time to replace a set of 15 year old Yamaha 5.1 surround speakers. They simply were not working well with the new Denon AVR – X1500H receiver I purchased a couple of years ago. Right out of the box the Klipsch speakers looked great and felt very solid. I was a little worried about mounting them on the ceiling as they are a little heavy, but that was not an issue with the right wall/ceiling mounts. I already had a Klipsch R12SW Subwoofer which really rattles the walls if I turn it up past 25%. So I was excited at the idea of adding a second sub woofer. It took a bit of configuring the speakers to get the optimal sound output, but man I could kick myself for not upgrading my surround speakers earlier. Two subwoofers really change the depth of bass being outputted. I have them about 8 feet a part and the wireless subwoofer enriches the voices and the larger one delivers the BANG. The center channel is extremely crisp and clear. Clear enough where you don’t need CC turned on to actually follow the dialogue.Overall these speakers and wireless subwoofer delivers more than what I expected. I am highly pleased with this purchase and may purchase two additional speakers to bump my system up to 7.2.

This CANNOT Be The $999 Klipsch Reference Theater Pack Reviewed By CNET

The CNET review from 2018 (“Teeny Tiny Speakers Will Blow Your House Down”) must be regarding a differrent version of the Klipsch Reference system. At original retail of $999, I thought this was a great deal and easy solution for replacing a failed LG soundbar system. I think the front/center/surround speakers give reasonably good sound for the under $300 price. However, the subwoofer is just annoying. I have adjusted every level setting in my surround sound receiver, and the crossover and gain settings on the Klipsch sub and either I get very little bass effect, or I get BOOMP BOOMP BOOMP vibration that is less like sound reproduction and more like getting stuck at a red light next to THAT car. If you are watching a movie with things blowing up, maybe this is an exciting surround effect. If you are listening to music, it is just an annoying indistinct low end thud. It is an 8″ sub speaker in a 12″ cabinet. I don’t know my music tech, but this is surprisingly poor reproduction of any low end. I have tried to use just the sub with a pair of low end Polk towers as well. The sound is better with the subwoofer turned off. Probably a reasonable value for $284 for movie watching. Klipsch must have downgraded something in this prodcut because no one would pay $999 for it.

Speakers you can stay married with

Not all spouses appreciate big impressive speakers and room filling sound. But these sound great, are small enough to not draw overt attention away from the rest of the room design, and a fantastic value. Connected to a Yamaha TSR-700. I had an old Onkyo low end 5.1 setup, and these speakers running on the Yamaha are dramatically better sounding, more range, and capable of cleaner sound at higher volume. So much detail. First movie I rewatched part of After Earth, the scene in the forest being chased by the monster sounded like a movie theater. Eventually planning to upgrade my front speakers to a slightly larger Klipsch bookshelf model, and move the smaller existing fronts to a rear surround position and get a bigger main sub, ending up with a 7.2 system. Oh and these were a “used” buy, open box I guess because all the packing was perfect and everything was in new condition. Saved $80 off the brand new option and about $130 less than costco had it.

Amazing 5.1 system for the money!

What a great 5.1 speaker set. We’ve partnered them with a Denon AVR-S750H and LG C9. They sound amazing in our room, which is sized 20×20 with 10ft ceilings.Going from no home theater system to this was the perfect upgrade at an entry level price. The subwoofer shakes the whole house and has to be kept below 50% volume at a -6db setting so its more than enough punch to offer some great low frequencies.Atmos, Dolby DTS etc all sound great to our ears after calibration of the AVR using Denon’s Audyssey feature. This 5.1 set is more than enough for a small room for users who don’t need to blast their ears off with sound.I do have a couple gripes for them, but they aren’t big enough gripes to cause a decrease in rating. The speaker wire holes in the back are a bit too small for even 16 gauge wire insertion without a little frustration in getting some of the speaker wire caught on the sides of the holes causing you to have to attempt insertion multiple times before you can get all the wire into the holes. The subwoofer’s port will sometimes cause some audible air buffeting sounds but only when the woofer is turned up to a uncomfortable volume anyway which causes the bass to be out of balance with the rest of the system but its worth noting for those who crank their bass up.

Comparison Between Higher End Klipsch Systems

This is a great system. Unbelievable when you consider the ultra-low cost. This is my third Klipsch setup. I have a higher-end 7.1 in-wall and in-ceiling system in the theatre, a 5.1 in-wall front and center with floor surrounds in the living room – all speakers are Klipsch in both setups. The cost of this entire system is just a little more than one of the in-wall speakers in the theatre (for comparison) – and, the sound in a small space, is just as good.Regarding the sub-woofer: If you don’t want additional bandwidth clutter by using the wireless feature, there are traditional wired subwoofer connections; you don’t have to use the wireless connection. This system is great for smaller rooms!

Buy it if you want an one heck of an upgrade from cheap stuff.

There are a few negative reviews, and a lot of reviews outside of amazon that bash the size of the speakers. The negative reviews seem to be more of user error and lack of simply understanding. And the size critics seem to just be overly picky. Would I pay the $1,140 the manufacturer site lists, no. Never. But I think for the $500 I paid is quite fair. I upgraded from a typical dvd player surround sound to this klipsch 5.1 theater reference and a Pyle 5.2 av receiver all for price point. Maybe I’ll upgrade the receiver later. But the sound that these speakers deliver is incredible. And I’ve hardly just finished hooking them up and partially through a movie. I am hearing all sorts of details that I never have before. So I would say 100% I would recommend these to anyone looking to upgrade from a cheap junky box store setup and they aren’t looking to get a second mortgage to upgrade. The negative reviews have got to be user error, the speaker connections are different but anyone with any amount of sense should have no issue what so ever. Only thing I can bash and trash is Amazon’s delivery process. Delivered to the wrong address. Been here 6 years, order stuff from amazon to be delivered here for the last 6 years. My house has not magically moved during that time. And the prime drivers speeding around like reckless fools isnt an image i would want if I owned a multi billion dollar company. So shame on Amazon’s staff/drivers.

    Good speakers, good price

Replacing my old Bose surround sound with these speakers was a good decision. Sent the Bose bass speaker twice for repair, the second time, they couldn’t fix it. Got a good price on these, probably because they are not wireless. They sound pretty good!

But I’ll try.Picture yourself standing on the roof of your car while your car is going 50 mph. Now imagine the wind hitting your body at that speed. Now replace the wind with sound waves.

Great starting point for home theater

I bought a nice but entry-level Onkyo receiver and this theater in a box pack a little over a year ago. Since the family was in pandemic mode I figured if we have to be movie-watching hermits might as well upgrade the sound beyond what our TV speakers could offer. It’s been a year and these speakers have been great, a perfect starting point for our home theater. The Pros:For home theater use these things are amazing for the price. Movies, video games, sports and live tv are going to be immersive and dimensional and detailed beyond any TV’s internal speakers and pretty much any soundbar. Dialog is clear and articulate. Treble is super detailed… think about the scene in the Matrix where Neo and Trinity break Morpheus out of Agent Smith’s custody… every gunshot and bullet shell hitting the floor sounds awesome. And the subwoofer is everything you could want for a small to medium sized room. The T-Rex in Jurassic Park sounds like it’s stomping through your living room.If your motivation is to take your movies to the next level, I’d recommend this speaker set 100% without reservation. But…Cons:For just listening to music in a 2-channel stereo setup these front speakers are small and they sound like it. They’re pretty detailed in the highs, but the mids aren’t very articulate, and the bass is severely lacking if you’re not using the sub. The soundstage and imaging of the fronts alone are less than impressive. These speakers are designed to all be used together for surround sound applications. And they’re great for that for the price. But if you just want to listen to an old Beatles record in stereo you’re gonna be missing any warmth and you’ll definitely want a receiver that will let you boost the mids… thankfully mine has that function. This past Christmas I got a nicer pair of speakers (Emotiva Airmotiv B1+) to use as my fronts and took two of the speakers from this set and mounted them up at the ceiling near the middle of the room and it’s the best of both worlds. I use the fronts for listening to vinyl or CDs and having expanded to a 5.1.2 setup with the satellites I’m Atmos equipped now and movies sound absolutely amazing. So yeah, if you’re looking for an entry point into the somewhat daunting world of home theater this is an awesome place to start. Awesome sound quality for low money and if you start with the right receiver you can expand from here and tailor it to your needs.

Great for a starter set or if you need space

Love the look of these cones and the magnetic grills are neat amd clean. The sub is powered and comes with the wireless connection for the sub only. This speaker set is my first Klipsch theater system. I’ve had other brands from towers to smaller satellite sets. This set falls in the middle, of small enough to mount out of the way and clean sound at a reasonable price (when on sale.) I’ve had louder systems but not as clear as these. These won’t compete with floor towers so I’m not going there. What this set does is loud and clear but lacks a little in the midrange so a well tuned amp is key. I’m running a 5.1 system right now and they sound great. Very loud and movies are wonderful. Music could be better with the mid range but I’m playing very little music. I replaced a Harmon Kardon set of satellites for these and haven’t looked back. I’m running an older Pioneer vsx-821-k and it drives these to my liking.I would recommend these these to anyone looking for an upgrade of satellite speakers and to watch for sales. The wireless sub is par for the speakers but it could leave you wanting more if you like your seat to rumble. In a smaller living room this system would be more than enough. Smaller form factors and the wireless sub gives you placement options. These speakers mount via key hole or threaded via the back cut outs. There are nice threaded mounts that support these and are worth their price for positioning speakers.

    Fantastic entry level home theater

When my ex moved out about 6 years ago he took the TV and surround system. It wasn’t a very good setup in the first place so I wasn’t upset in the least but I needed to buy something quick and I was unprepared financially. I bought the TV I wanted and compromised on a junker sound setup. This only lasted a few years and it was never very good. When I had enough of the junker sound I started shopping for an upgrade. I did a ton of research and decided to spend my budget on a Denon S750 Receiver and this entry level theater package (which was double the price it is today) along with high quality wiring. My intention was to buy the best I could afford at the time with the best options for reuse when upgrading… that was in Dec. of 2020. I’m just starting research for upgrades and thought I’d drop a note about this system. It’s a great little system, the sound is clear and has worked out much better than I ever imagined it would (my living room is decent sized, it’s about 14×18). I’m looking to add 2 large floor speakers this year and turn the system into a 7.1 using the small front speakers as rear heights. I couldn’t be happier with this setup and now I’m a huge Klipsch fan. I’m often surprised when visiting friends when I notice my little system sounds almost as good (sometimes even better) then their big expensive setups.

For the price it’s a good buy

For starters, ignore all the wires. We just moved and I have yet had the time to do some wire management. For the price these are a very decent buy but like others have said the sub is practically garbage. Had higher hopes for it honestly given the 6 inch sub on my 2.1 system that I have on my computer bangs. Honestly the 6 inch on my computer is much better than this 8 inch and the 12 inch woofer I have in my living room blows this one out of the water. And given that they’re all Klipsch setups I can’t understand why. But for the price, I’ll probably wind up just getting another 12 inch and junking this one as my electrical experience isn’t near as advanced as some of these other guys who have disassembled theirs. My only complaint thus far is a little bit of distortion and a slight echo but I have yet to try and fine tune them. Right out of the box though there is some minor kinks.

Arrived with Sub Damaged – Replacement Pending – And Again – A Long Wait

This speaker setup is awesome! The sound is great, music and movies are awesome and the sub is even better than I’d hoped for. For this price, I really don’t feel this system can be beat. But… Klipsch makes awesome products but their customer service leaves a lot to be desired. In my experience and opinion, they hardly seemed interested in the problem and once they finally decided to fix the issue, it took them a ridiculous amount of time to ship the replacement. But they did, *finally* come through. (Maybe they’re more responsive to customers who are dropping thousands for a setup?) So the missing star in my review belongs solely to whoever it is that manages the customer service department at Klipsch!Bummer! Right out the box, it was obvious the speaker on the sub was damaged. The surround (the soft ring glued to the outer perimeter of the cone) was deformed. (This can affect performance and lead to premature failure of the speaker.) In my view it seems like a manufacturing defect. The rubber seemed warped, twisted, or stretched, not crushed. I don’t believe it was a shipping problem. (The box wasn’t damaged.) It may have been a (factory) packing problem as I noticed the molded Styrofoam blocks seemed to have been forcibly pressed against other packing materials that weren’t aligned properly, slightly crushing some of the packing material. This makes me think that the people or machines doing the packing don’t know their own strength. The real let-down is that Amazon wouldn’t cross-ship so my only option is to wait for them to receive the return before a replacement can be mailed out.I will update this review once the replacement arrives and everything is up and running!Update 1 (2022/08/31): I returned the first system and ordered a replacement. It arrived today. I inspected it only to discover it has similar (but different) damage in the same area. Both units came from the same seller (Woot) but I don’t think they are to blame. I contacted Klipsch and they are sending a new, replacement sub and I’m sending them the damaged sub. I have also sent them photos and evidence I have that has convinced me that this is a packaging issue. I will update again with news…Update 2 (2022/09/06): Klipsch is a frustrating company to deal with. On one hand they said they would replace the sub. On the other hand, I contacted them to see if they’d shipped the sub yet and they told me that it will be from 7 to 10 days just for them to approve the replacement. It may turn out that Klipsch is a bad bet for anyone buying a receiver at the same time because by the time you finally get your speakers, your receiver is past its return window (which is important if something were to be wrong with the receiver). I will update again with news…Update 3 (2022/09/16): The replacement sub from Klipsch has arrived, I’ve tested everything, and its all working, just one day before the return window closed on the receiver I purchased. (Nice to have a little bit of luck…) For more, see the top of this review.

    Excellent Sound

I am by no means an audiophile but it was time to upgrade the movie experience at home, and that’s exactly what happened. These are absolutely incredible for music / Xbox / movies just anything. I did 6 hours of studying to learn about it. I have the Sony DH590 receiver and 16 gauge wires, setup took 20 minutes. Connect the wireless sub Bluetooth receiver into the subwoofer out port on your AV receiver, it links automatically no need to hit sync. Plug your microphone in and do the auto calibrate where you are sitting. Make sure speakers are ear level. After that’s done change your speakers to small and crossover 120ghz. Phase off is better for me. GAIN is just a volume button, it REALLY effects gun shots. Low pass should be 80-120 or LFE is fine too if you setup the speaker menu to be 120 small. Put your two front speakers six feet a part for best sound. Plug all your streaming devices into the back of the receiver and put the TV HDMI into the ARC port, and go to each device and turn on CEC / ARC. It really doesn’t matter if you don’t have Dolby Atmos you won’t miss it trust me. 5.1 stands for 5 speakers and one woofer. Hope this helps at least one person because I started from zero yesterday and now have a disco club upstairs, you’ll love them.

Very good value pack of speakers

When these are on sale, it’s a very good value for a set of speakers to get started. The frequency response range isn’t the best – but they do sound good particularly for the size. Bear in mind these are plastic cabinets and are small, so you can’t really expect the kind of performance compared to more expensive speakers. You could start with this set to cover your bases and then upgrade over time. Start with the center channel for example. This would add a greater frequency response and have the most impact. The subwoofer is ok, but it also doesn’t go as low in its frequency response as some others Klipsch has. This would be another decent item to upgrade — however if you can use two subwoofers, you aren’t exactly throwing the other away either (unlike the center channel). So all in all, it’s a terrific set to get started with. However, I wouldn’t say it’s worth $1,100 either (the MSRP). So make sure you get it on sale. Like under $400 USD.Or, don’t upgrade. They’re perfectly capable on their own and since they are smaller, they simply may fit better than larger sized speakers. There’s nothing wrong with them as is. You simply may not care to upgrade and that’s fine — these are far superior to any built-in TV speakers of course and likely a good upgrade to any sound bar too. Only high end sound bars would compete here. If you took the same cost and sunk it into a sound bar, you wouldn’t get the same performance. Though you need a receiver too of course.

Why did I wait so long … amazing set of speakers, wow!

I’ve put off for years upgrading my bose AM5 speakers just because there were other priorities. After watching many online reviews on Youtube I found this system to be ideal for my scenario. I could have purchased via Costco; however I preferred Amazon being a prime member. Set up was straight easy and straight forward, took more time for me to set up my receiver to work with 5.1 speakers. Once compeleted, man … what an amazing sound and different this set of speaker make! You can spend more, a lot more but this sets ideal and a worthy investment for the price. In the future may add two additional satellites to compete a 7.1 set up, but not hurry.

    Solid system

Absolutely love these speakers. They are great for a 20×10 room. They are clear and handle solid volume. Partnered them with a 12 inch JBL subwoofer and its a great system for someone who doesnt have a seperate theater room in their house.

We had a hard time setting up the system but mostly our fault with connecting wires properly. Once we figured out our mistakes the speakers sound great! They are very clear and great base. They sound great for movies and the radio. Very happy!

    Klipsch 5.1 reference speakers

I totally forgot to rate my purchase so here it is. I am very satisfied with the quality and sound of this set of speakers. If you can find this set for the right price of 3 to 5 hundred dollars it’s a great value. My only complaint although a small one but i should mention it. It’s the fact you cannot use banana clips on the back of the speakers. They have a push in plug that requires at least a 13 or above gauge speaker wire.I have mine hooked up to a 5.1 Yamaha audio reciever which these speakers are much better than the Yamaha speakers that came with this YHT boxset. The weight of each speaker impressed me along with the classic Klipsch look.Again i don’t think this set is worth a thousand dollars for that kind of money i would invest in a larger Klipsch speaker setup. So if you can find a set under 5 hundred or less i recommend this highly.

    Good and bad

I purchased these to replace a Monoprice 5.1 system and after installing these speakers, there were pros and cons. I appreciated the sound quality and clarity, particularly for mids and highs. The provided sub was incredibly powerful and had to be dialed back considerably when I manually calibrated the speakers. The problem with these speakers though, is that the center speaker lows were extremely high. So much so that any male vocals from watching films were very distracting and unbearable to listen. Even my kids and wife complained. As much as my receiver and media player would allow, whether it was a gaming console, blu-ray player or streaming app, I reduced the bass levels as much as possible for all the satellite speakers but it still would not resolve the booming lows coming from the center speaker. I went ahead and removed the center speaker and replaced it with my old center channel speaker. I would definitely recommend this system otherwise. However, I would purchase a separate center speaker option.

    Holy crap!

The media could not be loaded.

Ok, so i knew I needed an upgrade in speakers with this 20+ y/o VSX-D409 Pioneer receiver. The receiver is still plenty capable at 5×100 watts w/ DD Prologic and DTS. Even though I have already ordered the Klipsch RP-250C center channel and R-15M bookshelve speakers and stands, this unit is plenty capable. I’ll be upgrading from a 55″ TCL to a 65″ as soon as everything else gets here. I haven’t fine-tuned all the speakers yet, but there’s a video for a little perspective. Im no audiophile; I just want a good experience. The subwoofer sounds good, too!

All good except for the lousy subwoofer

I bought this system in August 2021. As soon as I set it up, the subwoofer started making a loud, random popping noise. I researched and researched, trying to figure out what might be causing it. I tried plugging it in to different outlets, using a surge protector, anything I could think of, but the popping never stopped for more than a couple of hours. Then, one day I switched it on in the hopes of watching a movie and it worked beautifully – no pops, good bass. I have no idea why it suddenly started working properly, but I used it happily (the system sounds good when it works well) for over half a year. Then, with no warning whatsoever, about three weeks ago, the subwoofer started popping again – in the middle of the night when I was asleep. So I was back to trying to figure out how to stop it. I discovered that the subwoofer popped even when not connected to the receiver, and that it also popped when I plugged it in in the kitchen rather than in my study.I wrote to Klipsch about the problem, but they have not bothered to return my message. LOUSY customer service. So, I gave up and replaced it with a Polk Audio Polk Audio HTS 10 Powered Subwoofer, which I received a few days ago. It’s working beautifully and the whole system now sounds good. I’m considering dropping the Klipsch subwoofer off a 40-story building, just to hear it pop one last time.

Amazing sound for such a small speaker (5.1 surround)

This review is for the 5.1 configuration speakers and not the Dolby Atmos configuration (which are notably much larger). The 5.1 configuration is just the perfect size for a small room. The sound is crisp and clear. The subwoofer is small but very powerful. I paired it with my Onkyo TX-SR494. I bought Sony height speakers separately and made the setup Dolby Atmos compatible (I didn’t like the dolby enabled speakers which reflect the sound off your ceiling). The final result was quite pleasing. I don’t need a more powerful system for the size of my living room. Playing dolby Atmos content on these speakers makes the experience very immersive. Overall, I’d recommend this, especially if you have a smaller living room.

Surprised at the quality given the price!

Like many, I see Klipsch and write it off for small space sound with a mid-range budget, but I took a chance when I saw this! Packaging was a little scuffed up, but the speakers themselves were well packaged and immaculate. Testing confirmed excellent mid and high ranges, perfect for any space needing a smaller surround sound setup. I haven’t had any of the noise issues mentioned in other comments, but it would be an easy fix to pull the wireless transmitter from the subwoofer should it happen, well worth the price for a simple modification.

    Great value

I think the satellite speakers are great. I have been using for 6 months. The sub is not the greatest. I would recommend getting a better sub, I didn’t realize the difference until I got an emotiva 12 in 250 watte powered sub. If you like movie’s it a night and day difference. The center channel is ok. But I had to go into my settings and crank it up to hear dialogue. I added a couple Klipsch 100$ front speakers and good to go. I watch lots of Dolby Atmos movie’s and have 5.2.4 now and sounds great for less than 1 k. I would recommend this but throw sub out and invest in good sub. But is a good starter set-up for low cost or if you’re just getting into home audio or small area. I’m running on onyko 797 which I think is maybe 70 to 80 rms. Per channel. I am going to try sone with marantz 8015 to see what sounds like with more power.

    Wow. These sound amazing.

The Klipsch Black Reference Theater Pack 5.1 Surround Sound System is perfect size and produces excellent sound/bass. Very easy to set up and the speakers do not look out of place mounted to the wall. I hard wired the subwoofer since it is sitting right next to my entertainment center thus eliminated any issues that could arise with the wireless connection.I watched the new “All Quiet on the Westen Front” on Neflix and must say that it was not all quite in my living room. It was a very intense experience with every explosion, tank, or gunfire literally shaking the walls of my living room.

    Outstanding bargain

These speakers sound great. I am especially impressed with the subwoofer. I just added a secondary tv to our house and I wanted to make use of my 20 year old Onkyo 6.1 receiver. Given that it is a secondary setup in a medium size room, I did not want to spend a lot on the speakers. My main TV has a full 7.1 sounds with Klipsch towers in the front and 8″ Klipsch ceiling speakers in the middle and back. I have been very happy with that sound and was a little skeptical of this package given the low price. For my setup, it works great and is excellent value for the money.

Awesome system, terrible seller BUYERS BEWARE

Nice sound, nice system, however, the subwoofer failed less than 6 months after purchase. BUYERS BEWARE Klipsch does not replace parts when the seller is not an authorized dealer. Green Cells was horrible and did not care about the problem I had with my subwoofer, and are not an authorized dealer of Klipsch products. This taught me a valuable lesson. I must now use extra caution when shopping with Amazon too.

    A+ Build Quality. Looks beautiful!

Speaker wire and mounting hardware is NOT included. 16 gauge speaker wire will work the best because it fits perfectly into the holes on the back of the speaker. The build quality and look of these speakers is A+. I was very impressed. The photos do not do it justice. I cannot speak for sound quality yet as I’m waiting for my receiver! If I have any issues with that then I will update my review. Otherwise you can assume they are excellent as many others have stated.

    Sound is amazing!

We love this Klipsch speaker system. We replaced a worn out JBL system and couldn’t believe the difference in sound. It is simple to connect. We didn’t realize our other speakers were worn out, so we kept turning up the volume. Now we have to keep turning down the volume, depending on the show. This was a great value, and we are very pleased.

A very good system for the money.

In writing this review it’s important to keep things in perspective. This system doesn’t produce the best sound I’ve ever heard from a home theater system. But then, the best system I’ve ever heard was quite literally ten times the price.I recently bought a new 55″ TV. Compared to the built-in speakers on the TV, this system blows it away. The bass can be a bit boomy. And the remaining speakers can sound a little harsh at times. But overall, I think it sounds pretty good. And when you consider that the entire system is priced under $300.00, I think it’s a very good value.

The sound from these speakers are great. When assembling the speakers to the receiver, it was noticed that the power supply for the sub woofer wireless unit was missing. Good sound for a small room, good value

We recently moved and our new entertainment room was smaller. I used these to replace aging Infinity surround speakers (24+ years old). They are reasonably priced and the sound quality is very good in our smaller, more open area. They were also much easier to mount since they are considerably smaller & lighter. They do not drive the sound quite as well at the higher volume levels when listening to music, but are great for our intended use of music and surround for the TV/DVD & streaming. I would recommend these as long as you are not listening to Metallica and trying to shake the pictures off the wall (which you can still do if you add enough gain to the SW).

    Great sounding system

I have been a long-time home theater buff (home has always been better than the cinema. My last system was 4.0 surround system with two 12-inch woofer front speakers + surround. The tank confrontation scene in “Saving Private Ryan” rumbled the room and rattled everything not bolted down – felt like we were in the scene. This system does that and better. The 5.1 surround puts you right inside every movie and the ability to dial in the sound to your room and surroundings is a huge plug.As a musician I have a discerning ear and this system reproduces sound to the most discriminating listener. There are some sources that have overwhelming bass but a turn of the dial on the sub addresses that problem effectively. I have found there is little need for loudness or equalization compensation with this system. The sound is balanced through our preferred listening levels.Nothing but praise here!

This is an amazing starter! The downward subwoofer is worth every penny. If all you do is get this bundle for the subwoofer, it’s worth it. Warning: you will enjoy this so much, you will want MORE! After seeing what this bundle could do, I upgraded to the next level speakers. Floor standing and center. Will upgrade the rear ones soon. Can’t get enough of Klipsch now. But with the rear speakers included in this bundle: we were watching a movie with a fly buzzing around the room. My son started looking for the fly in OUR room. They are that good. If you want something to start with, buy this!!

I had an old crappy no name 3 pc system and wanted to upgrade my sound for my new PC and Sony Receiver. I saw this on sale and snatched it up because Klipsch is a top name in high sensitivity speakers. I have a 12×12 bedroom with a small closet. I put the sub in my closet, and I can hear it halfway down the block when I play video games or rap music.Deep solid bass with crisp highs and clear midrange. With the high sensitivity rating you don’t need a lot of power to make this set sound like a theater.

    Very happy and impressed

I’m going to admit, I’m somewhat a novice when it comes to home theatre. With that said, I’m aware of how much of a difference it truly makes with ones interpretation of what they’re watching. I had recently upgraded to a new OLED with an eARC feature and came to realise, my soundbar I bought 5 years ago wasn’t doing me justice anymore, even though some sound great! My goal was to get something that sounded phenomenal, didn’t break the bank, and looked clean as well. Found quite a few options online that I thought would work best, went to a local Magnolia store, and started to narrow down what features would work the best for my preferences as well as a ton of reviews on a lot of these systems. Took the gamble, and gave Klipsch my money. Received a neat home theatre in a box not long after and got to work with how I was going to place these. I think they’d go best being mounted especially the back speakers, but given space and size of the sidepiece my TV is on figured they’d work better just placed, given their very convenient size. I went with buying some telescoping speaker stands so they could still be placed above my couch/ear level. I placed the sub aside the sidepiece on a speaker riser, mainly to be on good terms with the neighbors below and supposedly makes the bass punch a tad more as it downfires. Had to hone in on my wiring skills a bit but to be honest if you have a decent stripping to it’s straight forward, and I’d highly recommend purchasing the Amazon basic 16 gauge 100ft with this as it’ll require 18 or larger. A few hours later, a few cuts from my clueless utility knife skills, and some extra wire to play with, the speakers were all hooked up and lead to a Yamaha TSR-7850 receiver(I’m sure there’s better out there, but with eARC compatibility if you have it and flexibility to go 7.1 for less than $500, it was a definite for me). Took some time to get through options of setup on my TV as I truly have no clue what I’m doing with this, but when I did. WOW. Great clarity, full sound, and the bass blends so well. Not a tremendous amount, which for me was perfect as I just need it to fill in the areas and thus subwoofer does just that. The speakers look awesome with or without the covers and the quality is as great as the sound. To conclude, if you’re relatively new to the home theatre/ surround sound/ external audio aspect for your TV/gaming/ movie viewing, highly consider this package. If you get it when it’s on sale, it’s worth every penny and if you buy at it’s regular retail, I still guarantee you won’t be disappointed. Cheers!

Great value, but not necessarily high fidelity…

Needed to replace an annoying Sony 5.1 system that was over a decade old, and Klipsch is one of my trusted brands. This setup didn’t change my mind, but I am not sure it is quite on the same level as the Klipsch equipment I am used to seeing.Pros: decently easy setup (see BT caveat), acceptable sound, great value for the moneyCons: bass response is in a narrow frequency band, auto-on threshold for subwoofer is pretty highSetup for this was easy – but I had no intention of using the subwoofer wirelessly, so before I even powered anything on, I was cracking into the unit to remove the bluetooth module. Kudos to the previous reviewer who blazed this trail with photos and all… but unlike them, I left the BT module intact in the subwoofer, so my process is reversible if I ever decide to use the wireless function or sell the system on eBay etc.The sound is good for the money. I like the mounting options for the satellites (I used simple screws in my walls, but there are plenty of swiveling mounts available separately). The speakers are all good-looking and fit into my living room aesthetic just fine.As the “cons” indicate, the bass is adequate, but not overwhelming. You are, after all, counting on a pretty small driver to create those low frequencies. With my Yamaha 5.1 receiver, I found that the bass was pushing the sub too hard and causing distortion unless I cranked the low-pass crossover frequency all the way down. This leaves a bit of a hole in the mid-bass area, but I can live with it.The other issue is that even with a hard-wired signal to the sub, the “auto-on” threshold is ridiculously high. Meaning, the sub won’t power up until I find some significantly bass-heavy TV audio and/or turn the receiver volume ALL the way up temporarily. I have tweaked the receiver to send its maximum signal level to the sub (knowing I can turn the sub volume down on the sub itself) which has made the situation tolerable but still not where I’d prefer it.All in all, a great first system, or easy replacement system in a hurry, or even a system for a smaller room. I think for bigger rooms or more audiophile tastes you are probably looking at spending 2x or 3x the cost of this one. But I am happy…

    It’s been a few years since…

I’ve had a few difficult times in my life and a few years back, when I lost my job, I ended up having to downsize and move. At that time I had a decent surround sound system with my TV. It wasn’t some giant, expensive system, but it worked great. Problem is, It had to go…so, just recently I decided it was time to look into a new surround sound system. My choice in receivers didn’t work out the first time, but my second choice worked out perfectly. I have this Klipsch set hooked to an Onkyo receiver and man, this surround sound system really sounds great! Had no problems getting them hooked to the speaker wires and then hooked to the receiver. Getting them configured with the instructions on the TV was easy enough and tweaking the sound with the remote helped me as well. For the price, for the sound quality, this Klipsch set of speakers is worth it!

Amazing sound…Another defective subwoofer, but I fixed it as well.

The speakers are great, but the subwoofer sounded horrible!Crappy is about as accurate a description I can think of, but I fixed it! Definitely defective new, so I contacted the dealer and got a $50 partial refund because I really like the speakers and didn’t want to send them back (although I had plenty of time left). As an electrician of over three decades and a tinkerer even longer, I decided to open up the box and troubleshoot. First I completely disconnected the wireless board and LED cable as per another reviewer… ‘NPC Consoomer’. No dice for me. So I removed the driver and was thinking of trying a different one. Pushing on the cone, I felt it slightly sticking, not moving smoothly. That’s when I noticed (to my surprise) the permanent magnet was slightly separated from the metal housing. Poor quality control at the factory I’m guessing? So I took it completely off and examined the coil, measured the resistance (4 ohms), then reattached the magnet with super glue. Plugged in the RCA cable and listened to some incredible sounding bass in my jazz songs! After about an hour or so of relaxing music, I took it apart again and reattached the wireless board, tried that and everything is working as well as it should have from the factory. Overall, this is an incredible system if you get a perfectly working one. Otherwise, get ready to do some troubleshooting or get a refund. I was tempted to send it back when they insulted me by only offering a $20 partial refund! That doesn’t even cover the taxes I paid. For a defective major component, even $50 is crap, but since I had another subwoofer that I could substitute and I really didn’t want to be bothered returning everything, I accepted it. I’m just glad I was able to fix it. YMMV

Mostly great little system. The Subwoofer may be problematic, but I was able to fix it

Klipsch reviewTL;DR this is a very very decent system, but you may have to fix the sub or go with a separate sub if you’re really wanting a “wireless sub”.I was in the market for a 3.1 system for my desktop rig. So I could listen to music or watch movies and have a decent sound experience without a headset causing what I call “squeeze fatigue.”I wasn’t looking to spend a whole lot, but didn’t want complete garbage either. So in my search on Amazon I found these. They were 5.1, but less than $300. If anything I would get 2 extra speakers than I needed, and Klipsch has a reputation for being quality.Of course I was skeptical of these being only $289 shipped to my front door, while they are listed on Klipsch’s site for $1264.00. What this told me is they are clearing out inventory or they are defective. Reading the negative reviews, the problem was mostly the Subwoofer, but everyone else said it was decent. So I rolled the dice, assuming everyone was using the optional wireless setup, I thought worst case I would just never use the wireless link and be okay.I got them, unpacked them, and was happy to see those copper spun cones Klipsch loves to boast about.I hooked them up using bare 16 AWG copper wire for the main speakers, since the terminals are spring loaded gold plated terminals, and are too small for banana plugs, I just rolled with it. The other ends are banana plugged into an old Sony surround I got almost a decade ago, but still works well for a smaller setup.I decided “I don’t need no stinkin wireless” and opted to use a shielded RCA cable for the Sub.Then I hooked the system up to the TV Using HDMI, which has the best support for DTS in my opinion, and fired up a movie. The center channel and satellite speakers sounded clear. But the Sub just wasn’t doing it for me.I changed settings on the surround receiver, went through all the options on the TV for sending audio. Didn’t help. I tried the wireless setup to see if it was my RCA cable. Didn’t help. I even switched to optical and tried all of those settings. Didn’t help, then randomly it started working… Okayish. My lizard brain was telling me to think it must’ve just needed to be warmed up as a coping mechanism. I was in full cope mode.So I tried the system out for a week, with mixed results. The sound came out great from the speakers. But the sub would be “meh” at best, and have random pops and/or distortion at worst. The sub was the main pain point, just as most of the negative reviews indicated. Most people would’ve tried to return them at this point. But not me. Manufacturers dream of customers like me. Instead of crying about it like others would, I started investigating the problem. I listened to music that had distortion come through the sub, but it wasn’t consistent, it was hit and miss. When I’d play with the knobs and switches on the back, I’d get mixed results, thinking I’d fixed the issue when it would just come back moments later.Refusing to be defeated, I kept tinkering. I wasn’t about to go through the hassle of returning a $1200 system because one component didn’t work. I would buy an amp off the shelf and hook it up to the driver if all else failed. Then as I was tinkering with the cables I pulled the RCA and distortion was still coming through the sub!!!! I had a pocket of time for which the problem was presenting itself without even being hooked up to the surround system. Which told me the amp was receiving low frequency signals from one of the internal components.WARNING: Do not try the following this at home!!!! I took the risk of causing damage to the electronic components and voiding my warranty (not that I trust any company to stand by their products these days… most companies would rather offload poorly designed products at cheap prices and let the chips fall where they may. After all, if you’re buying a surround system at $300 you’re probably not the demographic Klipsch thinks is their market anyway). So anyway… As you can see in the pics, I took the sub apart. (And one of the cables were tight, hardly any slack. It turned out to be the front led cable.)I unhooked it and looked at the board. Since this is an amp that was powered recently, I carefully discharged the caps and started unplugging wires from the wireless board (I marked the wires with blue tape after testing with a multimeter so I knew what they were doing), and then plugged it back in using just the RCA and was floored by the smooth bass that was coming out of the driver! No distortion. No pops. Full sound! Not subdued and crappy like it was before! So I took out the wireless board… Completely. It was glued on, so it was a little tough to remove without risking breaking it. Not that I cared, it didn’t work anyway. I removed the front LED wire, just in case they were also carrying unintended signals into the board.I filled all the holes on the plate with hot glue, and put it all back together, tightening the plate screws from center out to ensure a good even seal.I hooked it back up and enjoy the hell out it now. Music sounds great. Movies sound great. No random pops and distortion from some wandering low frequency signal being blasted from “who knows where”, just some smooth hardwired bass as the electronic gods intended. All in all, I would only recommend this system if you’re willing to ditch the sub as is.I’m more adventurous than most, and willing to do a little tinkering to fix the flaws of the sub. I was willing to chance it because the system was developed with $1200 price point in mind, it just fell short because wireless technology is often quirky and can be unpredictable, and electrical engineering isn’t a perfect science, it is literally the art of refining rocks to try to create predictable resonance fields. In audio electronics, the goal is to reproduce the original air resonance waves of the source event. Which is mind boggling that we can do that. So I give Klipsch a pass on this. It was a swing and a miss, but I thank them for the flaw that was easy for me to fix and save me a nice bundle that I can spend on some other toys.Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.

    Good bang for the buck

Great sounding speakers for a smaller room. Have these hooked to a Denon surround amp. The sub packs a punch. It isn’t super thumpy but for the size it’s impressive.
