sounds fantastic
you need wifi. Prefavorably an iphone, i did not try it with android. I was going to return it since i did not have wifi but i had been meaning to get a wifi router anyway, and i ordered one and delivered overnight. Router was easy to set up and and i was able to set up beam gen 2, than i got a sonos sub mini and that made the sonos beam so much better. Its expensive, there are cheaper options but i have no complaints with sonos. If you get the beam get the sub mini its a game changer.

Gets one thing right
I feel like a moron. It sounded great when I tested it out at the store, and it sounded great in person, and that’s what it gets right, but……nobody should pay this much money for a connected speaker that doesn’t support Google casting. The lack of a volume indicator is personal preference but also incredibly annoying. If this were $100 cheaper, it would be priced right.

I was on the fence about buying it…
Holy gravy are these expensive. I wasn’t sure about it but ultimately decided to go for it and I’m glad that I did. I previously had a Samsung soundbar and was still not loving how quiet it was. This provides rich sound (you can even hear the higher sounds and pitches). It’s great for music or television. It’s well worth the high price!

Sonos Beam (gen 2) – great sound, easy set up, but doesnt show volume level on screen (new LG TV)
The sound is great for a small speaker without a subwoofer. This was important b/c I have relatively small space/didnt want the subwoofer taking up floor space. It was easy to set up/get connected. Connected to my appleTV as well, so can control the speaker volume with appleTV remote. Only issue, when you change the volume, no indicator comes on screen, so I have no idea what level I’m on. Just nice to know what numbers I need to target when I need to adjust the volume quickly for when I need to adjust the volume.

robotic phasing sound issues
When you use this product without satellite speakers on any kind of surround content, it attempts to do something to surround channels that put create a fast echo effect, like a reverb algorithm from a 90s video game. It’s especially terrible with the sounds of water, background chatter, or audience applause and laughter. This issue is very common if you search around on forums, and sonos offers no solution to this day. I’m very unhappy after paying for a premium product that it sounds so distractingly bad. If I could get my TV to just output stereo I would. Don’t buy this product unless they fix it, they’ve left it broken since an update around 2 years ago.

Beam me up!
I have a number of beams along with a wide array of the other Sonos products. Sonos is a way of life in our household. Beams work best when paired with two Sonos 1s for the rear surround experience, but as a standalone for TV viewing the Beam is a tremendous upgrade from standard TV speakers

Quick and easy install.
Super easy to install, took less than 30min. Integrated seamlessly into my existing Sony Bravia TV. One Remote controls everything. Haven’t had it long enough to comment too much on the sound quality aspect.

Game changer!
This product is AMAZING! We’ve been looming at the beam and the arc trying to decide which would be best. Due to how large the arc is I was very much leaning towards the beam and it did not disappoint! I’m beyond happy with this purchase. Setup was rather easy as well.

Truly awful network connectivity! Virtually impossible to get the setting done!
I spent 4+ hours trying to get this thing connected to the app on my Android phone, trying to get to the point where I could connect it with my TV audio. First of all, I have a very simple home network—no multiple networks (no fancy sub-nets), everything is on the same subnet, and the wifi router is right next door to the Beam. Didn’t want to do all the “music over the Internet” so highly touted for this device in the ads. All I wanted to do was to get into the settings just to get connectivity to my TV over HDMI.I’m an IT person (20 years), and I’ve seldom had the frustration I’ve had with this device. Tried both WiFi AND wired connections. The device was seeing my network (I could see where it was pulling an IP address from my router via DHCP), so the problem wasn’t that it couldn’t get on the network. The problem seems to be in the management app that is needed to manage the device. There’s a Sonos app that you can download on a PC. It kept saying it couldn’t find the Beam. I downloaded the app for my Android. It would connect briefly, then when I would go into Settings it would disconnect. The only advice that is on the (very limited) Sonos support site is to 1) restart the Beam, and 2) reset the factory settings. I must have done each of these at least half- a dozen times until FINALLY I was able to get into the system long enough to get it connected via HDMI to my TV.There’s a supposed setting in the Beam where it runs and audio check to configure the speakers for your particular room. Tried to get into it tonight, and–sure enough—“can’t find the Beam device” is again keeping me from doing it.It seems to be some problem with the mangement app itself. It does have good audio, over what the built-in TV set has. But is it $489 PLUS better? Not by a longshot!

Wow! This is an improvement over my similarly bar+sub setups
I’ve used the JBl 5.1 Surround bar and the Klipsch 800 soundar and sub. The JBl sub experienced interference with my 5ghz wifi and the Klipsch is now in my theater room since the sun is so big. I wanted something simple and compact for our family/living space and this Sonos Beam more than delivers. Great sound, adjustable eq, clear dialogue, decent for music and a small footprint. Wife approved!

Great, but for the price you’d think muting after commercials would stop
The sound is great, but during/after commercials or after pausing, it often mutes itself, so I have to grab the remote, pause it, then play it again to unmute it. Very annoying, and after looking online for how to solve it, it seems to be a common problem.*After a lot of troubleshooting, I found that using the HDMI cable that came with my Switch made it stop muting!

Great Sound
I am so happy about purchasing this sound bar. At first, I gasped at the price, but now I’m all smiles. I could never get the right balance of treble and base sounds with my previous sound bar.. I have hearing aids that I had to adjust in order to understand the words being said through the previous bar. I am 77 years old and was thrilled when this sound bar was connected and turned on that I didn’t have to do anything but enjoy listening. It also doesn’t require a second control in order to use it. You adjust the level of sound desired with the TV remote control. I highly recommend the purchase of this sound bar.

Great sound for an average living room or large bedroom. I added rear surrounds : Era 100 pair and the mini sub. This has achieved full Dolby DTS surroudsound in my large bedroom from my 55 inch smart TV.

Very specific use
First of all, it’s not a bad product at all. My issue with the device is where you can use it, which is basically exclusively to TVs. I knew that in advance, because I did my homework and researched about this sound bar before purchasing, but still…I got it to use with a 27″ Dell monitor (no HDMI ARC) because of its size, which is almost the same as the monitor, so it would have a nice looking. And indeed it was. BUT, as you might (or should) know, there’s no bluetooth available, or 3.5mm jack input, or any other analog input, but only a HDMI ARC (also a digital audio using an HDMI adapter). To workaround this, I also got a Fury Arcana to convert a regular HDMI to ARC. It did the trick. Kinda. Because Sonos will force you to connect it to a HDMI ARC tv at least once, or it won’t work with Arcana. After about 3 hours of trouble (shooting), I finally got it to work. Again, the sound looks good enough for a soundbar of its size, but I’m not sure I would go over all that again only because of the appearance and size of this Sonos product. If you plan to use it with a TV, then you’re probably good; but if you want to use with a monitor like me and you don’t want to spend extra getting converters, then I suggest you purchasing something else. Preferable with bluetooth. You WILL miss the lack of BT

Very good compact soundbar.
The Sonos Beam is a very good compact soundbar that is much better than the TV speakers which is what we were looking for. However, if you have the space and the money the Sonos ARC is SIGNIFICANTLY better sounding. We have both models. The Sonos ARC is for our 75″ TV in the basement while the Beam is for our 46″ TV in the living room. Both are easy to set up with the Sonos App on your phone over WiFi.

WARNING: wrong item was sent
I received a “certified refurbished” “non-gen 2” speaker which I then needed to return. While this certainly could have been an honest mistake by Amazon or the seller (SHIPEXP), IF I hadn’t really looked closely at the box and label it might have slipped past me (until finding later the gen 2 functionality wasn’t there). The “certified refurbished” statement was in small print on one label. I decided to purchase directly from Sonos, and received a box that was very different (tan vs black and that clearly states it’s “gen 2”).The speaker itself works great (hence still 5 stars despite having to purchase elsewhere). It works great with a new TCL TV as well as with older Sonos play 1 speakers. AirPlay support is convenient.

Title said it was Gen 2 but we received a Gen 1 (Certified Refurbished)
Based on the Amazon title, it specifically stated Gen2. The price was good but when received, it was actually a Gen 1 (Certified Refurbished) unit. We hooked it up and when I registered it on the Sonos website, it said Beam (Gen 1). We looked at the box and nameplate and sure enough, Gen 1 but also refurbished!!!! So, something is fishy here. We sent it back and went to Best Buy. They matched the price of Amazon on a new Gen 2. I wonder if the lower price was supposed to be for Gen 1 product as they want to clear out old product inventory. Buyer Beware…. make sure you CHECK your registration and nameplate on the BOX!!

I’m sure it’s great…if you can connect it.
Without the internet, the speaker is basically an expensive brick. I’m sure I could work out the connectivity issues, but the fact that it’s functionless without an internet connection feels asinine. Immediately returned.Zero bluetooth connectivity either. Did not work with ethernet cable.

Sonos setup is a piece of crap
We have a business quality network in our home. I have read all instructions, persued the internet, and talked to Sonos support. The product will not connect to network. I am so sorry I bought this worthless box. There are so many options for soundbars that are plug and play that I would steer completely away from this brand. I probably have a unique situation in getting it to connect at all. However there appears to be many examples where others have difficulty in connecting. Sonos expects you to modify your network setup to accommodate them. Why bother? Get a plug and play model. Not Sonos.

Love this product
Perfect for my smallish living room. It is a little tall so it can block some TVs if you put it directly below. Looks beautiful though compared to other sound bars in my opinion. Sounds amazing! Just make sure you have everything configured correctly so that you know you’re getting Atmos. It also depends on which content you’re watching (i.e., not all streaming services offer Dolby Atmos).

Great sounding soundbar
Elevates the movie or tv watching experience with clear, high quality sound. Easy to set-up and connect to tv. Soundbar is controlled using remote or Sonos app. I gave this product 4 stars for two reasons. One, it is expensive for a soundbar. Quality is great, but there may be less expensive options out there. Two, the soundbar consistently loses connection with the Sonos app. Since the app is needed to play music, this makes it difficult to listen to and control the music you want to listen to. It is very frustrating.

Too many pros to list here – see below
We are full-time RVers and previously had an older Polk Audio Magni-Fi soundbar and sub in the entertainment center in the rig. While the Polk Audio system was just adequate, we found that we had to keep the subtitles on while watching a movie and lyrics were difficult to make out sometimes when listening to music. We also had to use a Logitech Harmony remote to control everything – and Logitech has now discontinued the Harmony line of remotes (frown!). The Sonos Beam 2 and Sub Mini is my first foray into the Sonos ecosystem and it has opened up a whole new world to us. I am a former/retired musician and audiophile. I was used to hefty amplifiers driving floor standing transmission line speakers playing back lossless audio files (in the post-analog world). So, I had relegated myself to listening to music on good IEMs on my phone or laptop and having the subtitles on while watching movies. The Sonos Beam 2 changed all of that for us (my wife included). The Sonos unit has enough highs and mid-highs to put clarity back in the music and the human voice (though, admittedly not at the level of my transmission line speakers – but they won’t fit in the RV). With the Sonos system, I have set up a small NAS again with all our music on it and we can stream from Amazon Music Unlimited in HD or UHD if we want to listen to something we don’t own. One final advantage for us is the HDMI ARC control from the TV, so the ROKU voice remote controls everything while watching TV.

I’m Happy With It
Overall I’m very happy with this sound bar.Pros:1. Easy set up2. Clear sound3. Balanced sound4. Easy to use with SpotifyThis sound bar sounds great, especially considering it’s just one piece. Setting it up was really easy. The sound is clear, balanced, and accurate. It also has a surround sound feel to it. It was easy to use with Spotify. It doesn’t come with a separate subwoofer, so it doesn’t have window-rattling bass. But that’s ok with me. I live in an apartment and I didn’t want to be a jerk to my neighbors. The bass is still much more solid than anything you’d get from TV speakers.Cons:1. App has some room for improvement.I’d say the app is adequate, but personally I found the user experience to be a bit clunky. For example, the Speech Enhancement function is unlabeled and in a separate location from most of the other settings, which I thought was strange.

Great and Enough Sound for Smaller Media Area
I bought this Sonos Beam and replaced an Yamaha ATS-1080 with it. It’s a legitimate upgrade that offers superior sound quality. One of the issues I had with my Yamaha was hearing dialogue when other things were on like an AC unit Dishwasher etc. And I couldn’t get it loud enough without disrupting my neighbors on the other side of the wall. When you increase the sound for dialogue, you increase everything like Bass etc. The dialogue frequency is far greater on this Beam and I can get it the right level without it being disruptive.I’ve read comments about less than impressive bass sound. One of the huge selling points on Yamaha ATS 1080 is the subwoofers inside of them that give it its bass sound. The Bass on this unit is just as powerful if not better. I think it’s better. So don’t let those comments dissuade you.I bought this with the Sub Mini and Sonos ones. I watched Maverick and Titanic and sound between the three are amazing. And more than enough sound for a one or two bedroom living unit.I went with Sonos because I really look at Sonos and Bose as the top two and everyone else below. I bought my Dad a Bose because it came with a remote and he doesn’t like using his smartphone. With Sonos it doesn’t come with remote, everything is done on the phone. So got him Bose, purchased my first Sonos unit and am enjoying it. The only other negative about this unit is you can turn it off. It remains on all the time. The constant power and smart phone use didn’t bother me

Bait and switch by this vendor
I bought a “new” Sonos Beam (gen 2) and when I received it the device did not work and could not be recognized by the App. I spoke to Sonos Tech Support and they could not get it to re-boot and found out through looking at the serial number that the device was a refurbished machine. It was supposed to be new. Needless to say I sent this back and went directly to Sonos for a new device. Very disappointed

You have got to be kidding me.
Absolutely love this product until it’s night time when I have to switch to my Bluetooth headphones. This device does not acknowledge commands from the App or TV to mute out when I connect my Bluetooth headphones to the TV. You have to literally go unplug the sound bar every time. Unreal in 2023.

Scam store. Selling gen 1 beams as gen 2s.
I called Sonos because I was skeptical this was actually a gen 2 after seeing the packaging. Sure enough, even though I followed the link through the “Sonos Store” on Amazon, I confirmed Sonos has nothing do with this listing. This is a refurbished gen 1 Beam. Nothing on the listing suggests it’s refurbished, and it says clearly that this is supposed to be a gen 2. Big difference.

Absolute nightmare of a soundbar
What a piece of junk. It would disconnect from wifi every 2 minutes and sound was spotty coming off the TV. I will definitely be returning this. Not what you would expect for that kinda money.

WiFi only, best as part of an overall Sonos system.
This is a GREAT sound bar for your TV, and gives you a means to expand your Sonos system.

Requests a lot of personal information just to use it as a speaker
To setup the speaker, you need to use the Sonos app, which requires an account. And to setup your Sonos on your wifi, it can only be done via a phone app and you MUST allow it to access your location information. There is absolutely no reason that Sonos needs my location information just to connect to Wifi. And I shouldn’t have to sign up for a Sonos account unless I’m using the Sonos online services with my speaker. I’m assuming they are farming personal information for marketing purposes. At this price point, I find it unacceptable.

Set up was super easy.
Had a Bose soundbar and it took me 45 minutes to set up. Someone told me Sonos was just as good and easier to install. I may now become a Sonos user, have had numerous problems with Bose the last couple of years.

Nice addition to a bedroom wall mounted TV
Easy installation. Sounds nice! Like the ability to use it with rest of our Sonos system throughout the house.

Don’t waste your money
Everything worked fine for about 2 months and then they stop syncing. I did every known trouble shooting step got them to be connected to the Wifi and can pair them…then when trying to add it to the sound bar for surround. It will sync one but error out on the other. I have seen other say similar things and it is true, once one issue happens it tends to stay that way.
