Very good camera, the internal gimbal works great for nice steady hand-held and the 4k looks amazing. I’m very happy!However…So 4k is better than HD.5.1 suround sound is better than 2.1 stereo.So why in the blue blazes does this camera only support 5.1 in HD mode only??!!5.1 suround sound is not available while shooting in 4k. 4k only records audio in 2.1 stereo!Some engineer needs his head examined!

Oh yeah and the batter never charged. I had to record (the video that i cant post) while it was plugged in to the tiny USB cord. And god forbid the cord falls out, it cut off immediately and there went some footage.

Amazing for first time camera/camcorder
First time buying one, still learning how to use it but already learned so much pretty easily, great image and stabilization. This is the words of a guy who got one to record life and memories, it feels like it’ll do that perfectly. I don’t know anything about cameras so I just want it to be stable and great quality with ease to record and this is just that. No viewfinder!!!
How can a camcorder not have a viewfinder? Terrible design flaw. I just bought this to replace my broken camcorder. I was so looking forward to videoing my son’s football game, I set up the camcorder on a tripod and was so excited to use it for the first time. When I could not see the screen at.all. It had a terrible glare on it. I thought the brightness just needed to be adjusted but that was not the case. I had other family members see if they could see and they thought it must be broken because all I could see was my reflection and a glare that I could hardly find the football field. It was partly cloudy that day and I could not see a thing. If you plan to use this outside beware there is not viewfinder and the screen has an awful glare, would not recommend.

HDMI out giltches
This camera supposedly support HDMI out, but the feed unpredictably glitches every few minutes. The glitch lasts a few seconds, and then the stream continues. I have tried two different samples of these cameras, and they both exhibit the same bug. I have sent one of them to Sony for repair, and, upon return, the glitch was the same.

It was not advertised or pictured as not having a viewfinder. I was amazed when i received it. Cannot take pictures without a viewfinder! I returned it – and was shorted $14.37 on my refund. Not my fault – it was advertised incorrectly.

La imagen es muy buena, con buena iluminacion no se nota ruido, con poca luz el ruido es bajo, la bateria incluida dura mas de 3 hrs y si necesitas mas tiempo puedes conectar la camara a la corriente para seguir grabando .. los controles en automatico hacen muy buen trabajo.. el estabilizador de imagen es muy bueno .. la uso con SD de 256GB sin problemas .

Major Step Up..
I needed a better camera for my video projects after spending a bunch on low quality cheaper products. I finally decided to stop trying to find a cheap solution and happened to come across this camera. I didn’t need a DSLR so I went with the camcorder unit as video is my prime focus. My son is a professional photographer and he swears by Sony products so I knew I would be getting good quality. I have pretty bad shaky hands due to essential tremors so a gimbal and stabilization is a must and boy this thing really steps up in that way. Steady video finally! I also managed to snag a reduced price through Amazon on a unit that had been returned with “minor cosmetic damage”. I didn’t care and I’m still trying to find that damage. A good deal became a great deal. Very happy!

3 Months of casual Use -ìt’s Fantastic!
This Sony was recommended to me by a professional Wedding Photographer. She said it tracks faces and focuses quickly so it is ready to point and shoot the image stabilization is better than a go pro because Go Pros actually crop the frame to achieve their stunning stabilization. So, you are losing about a third of the actual frame size. This camera gives you the nearly the full chip capacity and uses a built in Gambrel to help keep the image upright. It takes great still shots at the touch of the button and it’s easier to transfer images, especially Videos, than from my Canon M-50. The M-50 stops recording video after about 30 minutes. That sucked on My Sons 2nd Christmas with set it and forget it I lost it! I have more money invested in the M-50 with extra lenses etc than this cost. Thinking about long term additional costs vs the slightly greater up front cost for the “Platform.” The only thing I wish were better was the low light capabilities but I don’t often have that problem just know the 4th of July party comming up is going to be limited to pre-fireworks time.

Garbage
After the 30 day return window closed I started getting “data error” messages right in the middle of recording. Priceless moments I trusted to this camera were lost because it glitched out. Spends more time recovering data than recording. I barely used this camera. Maybe an hour of recording since bought “new” in July 2023. Now it is a $1000 dollar piece of garbage. Amazon was of no real help.Save your money and buy a Canon or Panasonic. This is a glitch driven piece of garbage.

Good camera
This is a nice camera. However, I had the AX-53 previously which is the upgrade from the AX-43. I like the AX-53 more. The 53 screen resolution is better and the handy eye piece/viewscope is essential for bright outdoor shooting since like most other LCD screens, it is washed out in the sunlight.It is also easier to track motion with that eyepiece than the LCD screen such as recording moving aircraft.If you’re using the AX-43 for indoor video, it is certainly the better choice to save money.

This camera is great for both remote vlogging and studio recording. Both image quality and sound quality are excellent. Zoom and autofocus are outstanding, as you would expect from the Sony brand. My main purpose is studio vlogging with live streaming to YouTube, for which this AX43 does a very solid job.

Great Camcorder – get the FDR-AX53 instead for the same price!
A cost reduced version of the FDR-AX53. Makes focusing, etc much more challenging. Currently the price is the same as the FDR-AX53 – which makes purchasing the AX53 a no brainer. Why it’s $100 over MSRP on Amazon is questionable.

Not worth the money
we have a 5 year old C@non camcorder. It’s overall service is better. This one does give a better picture when you are in still shots. However while panning with the speed of a race car it is sub par video quality and goes out of focus.

There is no Night Shot button; Not good for ghost hunting
I purchased this Handycam Camcorder with the intent to use it on paranormal investigations. I charged it up and inserted a SD Card. Wanting to test out the Night Shot function, I realized there was no button where it would be normally located behind the flip out view screen. I searched the menus, screen and the instructions there is no Night Shot. I purchased this on the answer from Sony Support USA about the availability of Night Shot, but now I’m disappointed and have to go to the trouble of returning it.Otherwise, it’s a nice camera and the stabilization (Balanced Optical Steady Shot) is great with the gimble, but without the Night Shot it’s useless to me and not worth the money. It does fall short of my expectations since there is no built-in memory and only one card slot. My old DVC and mini VHS tape Sony Camcorders at least had Night Shot. This is step backward for the ghost hunting community.

Great overall, but no viewfinder.
This video camera takes superb videos, and has great features. My first day using it I took video in bright sunshine after a snowstorm….I was not able to see what I was recording because the screen was black. I tried shading the screen, but it made no difference. The only time I was able to view the screen was when I was in my vehicle. Most of the time I am able to view the screen when recording outdoors, yet in intense sunshine I cannot see the screen. I was very disappointed having to return this camera because it overall captures beautiful video. I just need a viewfinder for those times when viewing the screen is difficult.
