Camera gear that will last and you can trust

When it comes to camera gear, I have found that trying to get by with inexpensive equipment will only get you so far. If you want to have quality photos and videos you need quality gear. That’s not to say you can’t make amazing things with an iPhone and a budget setup. You can. But, when you are making a living at it, investing the gear you know, will hold up and last when taking a beating, finding companies like Manfrotto, Benro, and iFootage is a must. A few years ago I started using iFootage gear alongside my Manfrotto gear and I fell in love. They make some strong, versatile camera support gear. One of the products I have been getting some great use out of is the Cobra Strike 2 Aluminum Monopod. The Cobra 2 Strike is a lightweight monopod that features iFootage’s quick release system and single hand operated auto extension. The device is ideal to use when you have to pick up and move constantly during your shoot. The Cobra 2 Strike has a four-part modular design — quick release mount, main body, quick release low angle camera pod, and removable rubber foot. The modular parts make it possible for the Cobra 2 Strike to function as 3 different support pieces — a video monopod with adjustable feet, portable monopod, and a low-angle camera pod. The mounting plate provides users the option to use either a 1/4″ or 3/8″ mounting screw, which is actually spring-loaded. It is 100% compatible with the iFootage Komodo tripod head. The quick release grip makes it very easy to detach the camera from the post with very little effort. When you release the lock grip to extend the staff, you will notice that there is a built-in ruler on the inside of the rod to ensure that you put it at the exact length you want for your shot. The adjustable base features locking mechanisms for the three feet so that you can set it to one of three different angles — 20Âș, 50Âș, or 78Âș. The base also includes an adjustable ball joint that locks or unlocks with a simple twisting knob. The ball joint makes it possible for you to tilt the monopod 0-90Âș and swivel 360 degrees. The Cobra 2 Strike monopod is a 2017 Red Dot Design Award Winner (product design award).iFootage’s packaging is black with an image of the product you are getting printed on the front of it. When you open the box up, you will be greeted by a plastic bag that is covering a very nice carrying bag that iFootage provides with nearly all of their products. It’s a heavy duty carrying case that you can sling over your shoulder. Inside is where your the Cobra 2 Strike lives. The Cobra 2 Strike monopod is actually available in two different materials — aluminum and carbon fiber. I got the aluminum version because even though carbon fiber has a reputation for being more lightweight, aluminum tends to slide better. When the monopod arrived, I immediately unboxed it and got to know my new piece of camera gear. I marveled at the design of the device and how all the parts work together. I love that I can attach my camera to the mounting plate and use with either the full monopod or the base feet. It’s great to have such a versatile piece equipment in my hands. With my Cobra 2 Strike in hand, I took off for one of my favorite places to shoot — a local wildlife preserve. This area is well visited by locals, but it also has a lot of wild terrains because it’s a protected area. Given the location, I felt like it was a great opportunity to test all aspects of the Cobra 2 Strike. I drove out to a parking area and loaded up my gear which included the monopod, my Canon 5D Mark IV with a 24-105mm lens and 70-200mm telephoto zoom lens. I hiked out to a spot not too far from the parking area and set up the monopod to get some shots of the wildlife and scenic landscapes. I found a place that was near the lake and set my camera on the monopod. I was incredibly happy with how quickly I was ready to shoot. Most of the time, I will take along a tripod to help stabilize my shots — especially with the telephoto lens. The problem is, sometimes it takes some time to extend the legs, level them out, and get my camera mounted. With the Cobra 2 Strike, I pre-installed the camera plate on my camera body and walked with it attached to the monopod to the lakeside spot. Within a few seconds, I had the monopod extended and was focusing in on some birds across the lake. The monopod is so lightweight that it was very easy to carry — even with the camera mounted to it — across the rocky path. After I grabbed a few shots with the 24-105mm lens, I wanted to get a few options with the 70-200mm. The Cobra 2 Strike is such an amazing monopod, that I didn’t have any problems with getting a stable shot. I was actually able to leave the camera sitting on the monopod with the feet extended and it didn’t fall over. I don’t make that a common practice, but in order to demonstrate how stable the monopod is, I wanted to give it a try. Thanks to the adjustable ball head in the base of the monopod, I was able to get some amazing shots that I otherwise wouldn’t have been able to get without the added stabilization from the monopod. The one thing I hate about the Cobra Strike 2 from iFootage is the name. I don’t like snakes at all so naming such an awesome monopod after something I am horribly grossed out by is a bit disappointing. You will find that to be the only thing that’s disappointing about this monopod. I can’t express how much I enjoy using iFootage gear, as they do make some of the best camera equipment in the business. It’s affordable and extremely well-built. I can’t say enough good things about the Cobra 2 Strike Aluminum Monopod.

Quality, stable Monopod – A180-II Cobra

Came well packaged and on time. Opened the box and very pleased. Made with high quality parts, well designed and stable (even on carpet). Tried various cameras and camcorders. Pleased thus far, however, have not maxed out payload capacity.Excellent for traveling & “run and gun” video shoots due to mobility and light weight. Would highly recommend for quality, height and price-point. A+

    Very impressed with this monopod

In June 2022 we took a driving trip to see Grand Canyon National Park, Zion National Park, Horseshoe Bend, and other points of interest in the great American Southwest. This is when I came to appreciate the excellent versatility of the iFootage Cobra 2 C180-II monopod that I have already owned for one year. All the photos in this review were taken using this monopod as a standalone selfie stick, as a boom pole, or as my personal photography assistant. I even used it as a hiking stick on the park trails. You can see in the photos just how far I am standing from the camera that is attached to this monopod. What I have found is that stability is excellent — when it is placed on a hard surface such as a sidewalk or other paved surface. Rarely do I extend it to its full height, however, which of course increases instability. But even when I used it for selfies on the Bright Angel Trail at Grand Canyon (see photo), it proved to be sufficiently stable for this purpose. On the other hand, when I place it in the grass, in soft dirt, or a sandy beach, there is a greater chance that it might fall over. So I sit my camera backpack on the legs and generally that takes care of the problem. But if it is a windy day, be careful. For the attached photo of Horseshoe Bend, I used the monopod like a boom pole, put the camera on 10-second delay, and held the monopod out over the rim as far as I dared to get the entire horseshoe in the picture. Even with a DSLR camera attached for this photo, the monopod is firm, stable, and held the camera in place with no problem.I gave the monopod a pretty good workout on this trip. The legs are scratched and scuffed and the red rubber base took a beating from being used as a walking stick. For this purpose, I drop the top two sections only to configure the monopod to my height to use as a walking stick. Nevertheless, the monopod remains as solid as a rock.I also like the modular nature of this monopod that enables me to remove the tripod base from the pole and use it as a table top tripod or for low angle shots. Finally, it is lightweight enough that this aging septuagenarian can carry it — with camera mounted — without wearing me out or putting excess pressure on my lower back.So to say the least, I am very impressed with the C180-II. I have simply learned when to trust it to remain upright and when to be careful while using it on windy days or on soft surfaces.

    ummm wow

This thing is awesome. It is a little heavy (that’s a good thing) and you are not going to just throw it in your camera bag (it comes with a very nice bag of its own). But it is a monopod on steroids. The base is fantastic and the usability of this thing is unreal. Very high quality material and very well made. After using it I honestly wish I bought something like this 2 years ago.I shoot youth sports (mostly soccer) for my kid and for friends. I have a cheap ($17) monopod that I have used for a while and it’s OK. But it collapses while you are using it and it just doesn’t feel very sturdy. I was constantly adjusting it and such and just got frustrated with it. I was looking for a $30-$40 one that wouldn’t collapse while using it and was just better made. I almost didn’t spend the money on this one, but I am really glad I did.1st – it is super sturdy. I can extend it and lean on it, NO collapse at all. I am not sure if I could force it to collapse without hitting the release.2nd – its very cleverly made. The two different size screws are built into the camera mount. The camera mount also releases with a quick release lock like on an air compressor. And the base comes off that way to. It’s just very clever.3rd – the base is a ball and socket (joint) mount with a small tripod and a rubber foot underneath. It works perfectly. And with the ball joint loose you can swivel/turn the camera left or right with ease and you can pretty much lean the camera in any direction, pivoting on the ball joint. With the tripod folded up the rubber foot works well.4th – you can release the top mount and the bottom and connect the camera directly to the mini tripod and use it like that. Again, just very clever.5th – $400 camera with a $250 lens with this monopod and I look like a professional…. (or at least I feel like one) :)Would highly recommend to anyone taking pics!

iFootage Camera Monopod Professional 71″ Aluminum Telescoping

Pros:The iFootage Camera Monopod is very easy to use and is perfect for shooting photos of sporting events. The monopod is lightweight, making it easy to carry around, and the aluminum construction is durable and sturdy. The tripod stand provides added stability and is great for shooting in uneven terrain. The height of the monopod is adjustable, which allows for a wide range of shooting angles and perspectives.Cons:The only downside of this monopod is that the feet do not lock in place, which can be a bit of an issue when shooting on uneven terrain. However, this can be easily remedied by using some form of stabilizer or additional support.Overall, I would recommend the iFootage Camera Monopod Professional 71″ Aluminum Telescoping Video Monopod with Tripod Stand Compatible for DSLR Cameras and Camcorders, Cobra 2 Monopod A180-II to anyone who is looking for a high-quality, easy-to-use monopod for shooting photos or videos of sporting events or any other activity that requires a stable and adjustable camera platform.

Pedal is a nice addition to an already great monopod

The addition of the pedal makes it much easier to adjust the angle of the monopod and is a great addition to an already great monopod. I highly recommend iFootage gear.

    Sturdy, good versatility

Nice product. Only grumble is that it’s a bit heavy (e.g. luggage), but a tool I’ll be using quite a bit. Has a really good ‘memory’ for quick adjustments, and not fighting me to go back to a prior setting.

Great monopod. Be wary of ordering through Amazon or from this company.

I generally want to leave a high rating for the product itself, but I have to take a star off because of how this company, or Amazon, packages their products. The product packaging is not placed in a separate shipping box. There is no tape securing any box tabs from coming undone. I bought their K5S monopod head and it came the same way, except that box was only closed by a magnet. When it got to me.. all of the contents from the box were missing except for one piece. I know that’s a different product, but same problem with the same line of products. With that being said, this is an excellent monopod with a wide range of adjustment. The 3 leg base you can attach keeps the whole system upright with my Sony a6400 and telephoto lens. You can walk away from it, just make sure you aren’t in a crowded place where it can get bumped into. The features listed work well. From this random reviewer on the internet, I’d recommend this monopod.

Works looks sturdy had to learn you can pull the thing down to attach a piece for the camera. You do need a adapter to mount on this tripod.

Wow! More than I could have hoped for!

I bought this monopod after seeing several reviews on YouTube from Gerald Undone and Basic Filmmaker. They both described it’s design features and solid build, which tipped me over from buying the Manfrotto and Sirui. I’m completely amazed by this monopod.First of all, this is a sturdy monopod that’s also light. I opted for the aluminum one, and I can’t imagine how light the Carbon Fiber one would be. It’s incredibly light and yet rigid. There aren’t any weird noises, like metal rattling or shifting against itself, which is great for most of my shooting. The Manfrotto tripods and monopods always have those noises that just don’t inspire confidence. The Manfrotto monopods also have clip releases that are LOUD.The design features of this monopod are just inspired. It’s like iFootage stole the design team from Apple. And not the new design team from Apple that designs features for profit, but the old design team from Apple that thinks of the user. The quick-release system for the tripod feet makes this break down quickly and provides extra use for my shooting. Transferring the camera mount to a short tripod with the monopod feet is also handy. The manufacturing tolerances on this monopod are like driving an Infiniti. All the parts fit together with such precision that every movement is as smooth as possible.iFootage makes a lot of other products, and I’ll be trying them as I need another tripod, slider, etc. simply because this monopod is such a well-designed product. Thanks iFootage team!

Lightly balances a heavy camera, lens & pod head

It’s a monopod, so independent balance is something special. The little tripod on the bottom of the pod deserves all the credit. Balanced and its ball head tightened, it can temporarily hold steady a heavy DSLR camera and lens. Nonetheless, one should still keep a light grip on the monopod – a sudden breeze or slight jostle can cause the expensive gear to fall. Loosened, the ball head on the little tripod allows completely free movement of the monopod. But the pod’s real value, in my opinion, is that it securely holds the weight of camera and lens while allowing free range of motion and isn’t as heavy or as cumbersome and awkward to carry when hiking through the bush as a similarly loaded tripod is.

I bought two of these to use for photo/video as well as use the tripod base as a compact microphone stand. These are great.

Would like each section SHORTER by 10″

Like the build, the ease of assemble / dis-assemble head. Tri foot is stiff to maneuver. The biggest challenge with the induvial section being TOO long around 27″; it’s difficult for shorter photographers to use.

    Best Monopod ever!

I think I have finally found my holy grail of Monopods. I’ve tried several and none of them were easy to use. This one is fantastic. Well made, sturdy, and just very usable with the feet. Plus the mini tripod option is just a big bonus! Very pleased with it so far.

Only for monopod use! Not stable enough for a rock solid tripod.

**All the weight saved by making this carbon fiber, is added back on by the sturdy but tiny aluminum(?) tripod base.**This is basically an AMAZING monopod, that doubles as an almost OK tripod. If you want a STURDY monopod, get this beautifully crafted thing. It collapses/extends smoothly, and quickly. The heavy duty tiny tripod legs can be a bit of a handful to extend/retract; but that may be due to it still being brand new. The tripod base was crafted to be really durable, which is great, but it adds A LOT of weight – negating the lightness of the carbon fiber. I surmise this was done to TRY to add some semblance of stability when in ‘tripod’ mode – but it’s just not enough. For long exposures that need to be motionless, just a slight breeze on a nice day at the beach will slightly move this thing. With the little legs retracted, and the whole monopod collapsed, it’s fairly unbalanced toward the leg side – as I said, due to their weight. Balance wise, it basically feels like carrying around an American baseball bat, with one end super light, and the other much heavier – and at 28” long, it’s as long as a bat! At that length, it’s not good for travel. I doubt this would be allowed as carryon, as its looks like it can cleave a medieval knights helmet in.Because of the ballsocket at the bottom, I’m constantly bending over to loosen and tighten the joint – to make my fluid head level. If you want a really great monopod, grab this item! If you want/need a super stable tripod…you definitely want to to pass on this. The problems are the tiny little legs, and the ball socket at the bottom…there’s just not enough stability for any kind of long exposure shots.I was really looking forward to this, I really wanted to like it. 🙁

One of the best things I’ve bought

Aside from purchasing Izotope RX elements on sale for $10 – this monopod is probably the next best piece of kit out of over $10k of stuff. If I had to start over, I’d have purchased a suuuuper cheap fluid head tripod just to have it available, and this monopod for most the actual work I end up doing. Much later I’d purchase a good fluid head tripod obviously, but for soooo many needs this monopod has been absolutely amazing. It’s easy to adjust, light, and sooo versatile! If I had to point out one favorite thing about it, it’s that if I’m traveling I can take it apart and fit it into my Pelican 1510 that I use as carry on (has to be diagonal and up-down as well, but it fits! 180cm version!) and now I have not only a great monopod, but if I want then I can also use it as a super stable tabletop tripod as well as a boom for a microphone – a mic handle can be screwed in to the end of the pole (the small end to boot, so it doesn’t look and balance bizarre!), a cable taped to the pole and you’re good to go for so many situations.

    Stellar piece of kit

I had a hard time deciding between the iFOOTAGE Cobra 2 and the Really Right Stuff MC-34, and ultimately decided on the Cobra 2 because of:* Very positive reviews online* included pieces (hi-hat, tool, great bag)* price* heightI’ve had the opportunity to run it through several environments where I needed a monopod, and I’ve found it to be exception (if not a tad heavy on the arms after extended use).I equipped it with a RRS BH-30, Canon 90D, Canon 70-200 & Sigma 150-600 for my testing. I did a mix of urban and suburban wildlife shots. I also tried out using the BH-30 as a makeshift gimbal head for following birds.Just a really stellar piece of kit, and at a very good price point. My only cons might be that it will start feeling very heavy after a few hours of use, and that it doesn’t fit very well with a backpack (I ended up looking like Boba Fett).I feel like that could be solved by just using the included bag while in between locations.I would recommend the Cobra 2 to anyone looking for a monopod.

    Accept no substitute.

So last year I bought the Miliboo MTT705A monopod w/fluid head. It was a good, quality build for the most part, with a couple of crucial drawbacks: the latches came loose periodically, and the foot at the bottom couldn’t be completely secured for a lock-off shot and would drift. Now enter iFootage: this monopod solves all the problems my old monopod had and then some.* QUALITY CONSTRUCTION. You’re buying the Rolls-Royce of monopods, full stop. All the tolerances are super tight, everything feels premium.* QUICK SWITCH SYSTEM. Being able to set up a high hat shot takes 2 seconds with a very intuitive system which allows you to press and pull off the mount above and the high hat below.* A FOOT THAT LOCKS IN PLACE. Twist the knob at the bottom and the ball above the foot will stay in place. Huge leg up over the competition.* THEY’VE THOUGHT AHEAD. On the side there’s a little tool to tighten the latches in the unlikely event one comes loose.. a lifesaver if you need it in the middle of a shoot.I’m sure there’s more I could say, but seriously: if you need a monopod buy this one.

    Excellent product

I don’t write reviews often. This deserves it. Saw a Youtuber use this monopod for bird/long lens photography and well I just recently picked up a canon 500mm f4 and it’s a beast. I cheaped out on a monopod that didn’t cut it with this combo and well for the price of this monopod you are going to be happy. Very well made sturdy and feels amazing. I do not feel worried about this huge lens mounted on it and cannot wait to put it to use in sports soon.

    Exceeds my expectations

I didn’t even know a monopod could be this good. I’ve always been a tripod fan but I think this has changed my mind. It’s a lot lighter and is perfect for my Sony 200-600 lens. I needed something light but not overly expensive (this is pushing it on the price though). Everything else in the same price range was lacking a certain feature. This thing delivers on all. It’s very well built which is a surprise with a name like ifootage. Just remember, buy once cry once. Don’t waste your time on cheap gear. You’ll have it for life.

    A little let down

I have given every piece of ifootage gear I’ve ever bought 5 stars. And I’ve bought a lot of it. Awesome company. I bought the Cobra 2 and gave it 5 stars, but can only give the Cobra 3 4 stars. I think they messed up the quick release. It’s really hard to lock. The last one was very quick and easy and I had to wrestle with this one so much, I thought I was somehow doing it wrong. Everything else about it, including the new foot switch is awesome though, so still giving it 4 stars. And I love the company. Maybe mine is just defective, I don’t know. But I was excited to get it and little bit let down. Will still continue to buy anything iFootage sells though. Great products.

The monopod feels loose. Shifts left and right about 1/4”.

The media could not be loaded.

I love how quick it is to move the tripod up and down but two huge problems. There is about 1/4 inch loose movement when panning. I have an expensive fluid on there to avoid panning problems but It’s compromised because of that loose issue. Second issue, is you can’t really slide it with one hand as I’ve seen advertised. if you have a heavier lens/battery grip/light/ or cage. You definitely need two hands but I’m ok with that I suppose. Just keep that in mind. The standard cobra 2 doesn’t have the movement issue but I got the strike for quick use for weddings.

    Built ifootage tough, haha

So I wanna start by saying this is a step up from my manfrotto 3 in 1 that I bought to turn into a monopod. I bought the 71’ instead of the 47’ due to the fact that it wouldn’t be tall enough for the things I want to do with it. Only thing that is a bummer for myself is that it won’t fit into my gym bag when it is down to its minimum height. I am a gym rat and I’m starting to vlog my workouts. But I can’t hold this against the monopod itself. The monopod is built like a tank in my opinion very sturdy and looks to be durable. Take note that I haven’t used it yet but just from instpecting it and looking at it’s functionality it is pretty easy to use. One thing I do wish ifootage had this in is with twist locks. Yes I know that might be a hassle for some but I am a fan of them aesthetically. It just looks cleaner to me tripods or monopods with twist locks.

    LOVE LOVE LOVE!

I bought this monopod along with the fluid head and it is the most amazing thing ever! What a dream come true for me. I’m new to this photography thing but I got a really nice point and shoot camera for bird watching etc on my heavily treed lot (Nikon P1000). It’s pretty heavy and the lens goes out really far so I was concerned I might not be able to use a monopod (Like I said I’m new to this so I’m pretty nervous about dropping that camera ) but I really wanted something with a small footprint so after MUCH research I got this. I have tendon damage and arthritis in my hands and the ergonomic features of this thing are SOOO great! Like I said I am new to this and I don’t have anything but a cheap tripod to compare it to but I could not love it more! I’m also terrible at following directions and I put this whole set up together in 5 minutes – literally all I had to do with the monopod was pull it out of the bag. I did add one feature to the fluid head that may be specific to the Nikon P1000. It has a design flaw in that the tripod mount does not put the center of gravity in the right place. So I added a tripod mount I found that gives a place for the lens to rest and adjusts the center of gravity accordingly. (Seriously I spent forever researching all this and boy did I end up with all the best solutions). But of course it’s connected at the top so I still can just pull down the red piece and pop everything right off. LOVE IT!

It’s OK, but might need a better fluid head

I just got the carbon fiber monopod and it looks good. Feels nice, and a monopod itself is worth the price for what is offered by itself. However, you might reconsider if you’d like to get it together with ifootage “fluid” headThe “fluid” head that came with it doesn’t feel fluid at all. It’s screwed well and untightening that little lever doesn’t give a fluid feel at all. It feels like it’s scratching against something as you pan. There’s no way yo get a smooth pan with that feel.Maybe I got a dud of a head. I’ll play with it for a few more days and decide if I will be returning it for a monopod only, which is excellent, and get a different fluid head.My rating:monopod: 5″fluid” head: 0

Only monopod (which also is kind of a tripod) you’ll ever need!!

First of all, some details that might help some people. Total weight of the 59″ version with tripod feet is 2 pounds 10.1 ounces. Without the feet the monopod weighs 1 pound 7.2 ounces. Tripod feet alone weigh 1 pound 2.9 ounces. I finally purchased this based on the fact that every YouTuber or comment I’ve seen talk about these always claim that they are the best monopods EVER. Well, I can now confirm that is 100% true. This thing is insane. I’m attaching photos of the monopod holding an 11 pound rig with absolutely no sweat, even at full height, on plush carpet (which would normally be insanity for fear of tipping). The three photos show the monopod at maximum height, minimum monopod height and just using the tripod feet. The build quality is ridiculously good, so if I had to find anything to complain about, maybe the feet could be little lighter, and an all blacked out version would be cool. Otherwise, thank you iFootage for such a mind blowingly good product!

With the correct ballhead this things is awesome!

Depending on your use, this thing is great! I bought it for taking pictures of my kids soccer games and not getting tired of holding up a camera and long lens all day. Where this excels over a traditional tripod is being able to be fluid in movement once you put a ball head on it that allows you to move around. You can lean in or to the side, pan and tilt, and really follow the action while maintaining your composition. It’s not super light but I think that will help it’s longevity and stability.

Absolutely essential for use with my large telephoto lens!

I did a lot of research when I purchased my large 200-600mm lens and how to improve my shots. This monopod was in a lot of reviews and was very well regarded. I decided to pull the trigger along with the Wimbley MonoGimbal head. This is such a great combination. I love the versatility of the monopod using either the included stand or just setting it down on the bumper at the bottom. Definitely has improved the sharpness of my photos by adding stability.

    Great Monopod – Solid build

I’ve always been more of a handheld photographer but needed a monopod for those shots that need extra steadiness, especially with my long zoom lens. I can’t say enough good things about this monopod. I love the clamp that holds the camera in place, its quick to attach and remove the monopod as it should be. It has a solid feel and the 3 small feet at the bottom give it extra stability but can be removed if desired. I love that I can step on one of the small feet to hold the monopod in place and then I can move the attached camera around a bit to get my shot without it feeling like the camera is loose or going to tip. It has a nice grip at the bottom but is still movable. I’ve tried several monopods and tripods over the years and this is by far my favorite. I added a strap to it so I can carry it across my shoulders when not using it or I can use it as a walking stick. Due to the 3 small feet, I can carry it along and if I decide to take a handheld shot, It can just stand on its own while I take my shots but is close by if needed. Its amazing and if I were to design one, this would be all I would ask for. Its got a little weight to it but they make a more expensive carbon fiber edition if weight is an issue

    Sturdy relayable monopod!

I realy like iFootage products! I also have their tripod that is super sturdy and well built. My expensive camera is safe on it. And this monopod is of the same quality. I use it for the camera but many as a microphone stand. Its one of my favorit items! Its a little bit heavy but relayable and realy well built. Also very flexible. You can remove the feets if you going to hold the stand all the time, and it gets much lighter. The feets can be used as a small table stand by its own. Very usefull!

    An awesome monopod

This thing is awesome.. The market for a sturdy highly adjustable monopod, this thing is awesome. I have several other monopod’s values for my spherical cameras and they are good. However this is able to take on spherical cameras and traditional cameras as well. It gives a very good base, is a ball head at the bottom so that you can steady your camera at a variety of angles. It is quite tall and very useful if you’re trying to get a top down shot and looking to steady the camera. It’s quick release works well. I just have no complaints at all about this product.

The media could not be loaded.

I loved the portability and versatility…when it worked. The so-called quick release would not click in easily and after 2 uses is not releasing at all from the base. I reached out to the manufacturer with an explanation and pictures… they wanted a video…hard to do when the product you bought for this purpose is the thing you need to take a video of. I sent what I could and got a sparky response that it may be difficult to use…. what???? It is malfunctioning!!! Horrible customer service! I’m still trying to get them to make it right! Very disappointing.Make sure to test out your product immediately, if you end up with a problem and haven’t returned to Amazon in time, you will be spending 18.5 hours to get the issue resolved…

This is a very nice, very high quality monopod. I tried a couple of other less expensive options, and they didn’t feel stable, secure, or like they would be durable at all. This one is fantastic! I like the quick release option top and bottom. The ball in the base allows for smooth movement, with no jerks and catch points. No issues at all with my camera and 150-600 lens. It’s going to allow me to take better pictures, and that’s what I wanted!

Quality but heavier than expected. Prefer my tripod

First let me say that this seems to be quality construction and has some very nice features especially the removable tripod base that can be used alone.. I ordered this to be a lighter weight alternative to my Manfrotto Befree tripod (non carbon fiber version) because it is supposed to be about 1/2 lb lighter. The description states that it is 2.64 lbs. When I received it it seemed fairly heavy and actually heavier than my tripod. I weighed it and turned out to be over 3.5 lbs without packaging. In addition the collapsed length is longer than the Manfrotto. I discovered I can just extend one leg of the Manfrotto tripod (the one with the handle) and it is a serviceable monopod. Maybe the weight listed for this item is without the detachable tripod base which is listed separately at 1.27 lbs? One of the main reasons I bought this was because of this base so don’t want to leave it behind to save weight. So in the end this just didn’t work for me wanting something lightweight to carry on my camera backpack.

    I Love This Monopod

I purchased this monopod for two reasons. First: I needed a monopod. Second: I needed a monopod for a road trip to Yellowstone, Zion, and Grand Canyon. I can say I pretty much put this thing to the test, and it held up in all instances of use. I hate saying this, but I really feel like I was abusing it just to see how good it was, and this thing was very well built. I even used it to hold up my camera in a river in in Zion National Park. Despite its use and abuse, everything still works perfectly. No scratches or broken parts. Everything still feels new.I also got a lot of compliments on it, as a lot of people admired its looks and its use. I liked how stable it is, even at its full extension.I would recommend this item to anyone looking to purchase a monopod despite its price.

    Made with excellent materials

This monopod is made with high quality materials. the leg extends very precisely and is fitted together with precision. The quick release for the foot and the head is really nice but I wish the quick release was set up in a way that I could flip the monopod leg and attach the head side to the foot and vice versa. The ball joint that is located on the foot I think is a bad design be cause you cannot tighten the knob that tightens the ball joint to keep the monopod from changing angles. The leverage of 5’9″ over powers the ball joint and cannot keep the tightened angle you had set.

    Love this monopod!

It is hard to hold up a heavy lens and camera for long stretches of time and I found that the animal I’m photographing invariably does something interesting just as I am resting my arms! I bought this for those occasions when I need something to hold my camera up so that I don’t miss those crucial shots — it is perfect. It is stable and allows a wide range of motion. I have a Wimberley gimbal head for monopod and the combo is ideal. The only shots that I cannot achieve with it are the bird overhead flyovers. While I would never leave my camera on it unattended, the three “feet” provide a lot of stability and I can concentrate on taking pictures without worrying about it at all.It is very lightweight, easy to take on walks/hikes, stable and easy to adjust. Very happy with this purchase!

Design award for what? Less than OK monopod with some major issues for top dollar.

So this is not a bad monopod in general…but its issues come up when you start using it.I was writing a good detailed review, and then Amazon.com was trying to see my crosslinks, and searched my connected devices as my browser was blocking these attempts. Then I allowed it, but it wiped the review I was writing. SO I am rewriting and will do a Pro Cons list with some explanation….First off this comes in a nice “looking” case, with a nice zipper, and even a velcro strap inside to holds the pod in place. But it is USELESS, as even the smallest ball head will not fit with the case as its only long enough to barely fit the monopod WITHOUT a head. Major FAIL of what could have been ae useful case. May as well toss it in the trash. And we just payed an extra 20-25$ for an almost $135 monopod.PROS:-Looks nice, Hey! it won an design award!-Nice looking and feeling case. The build is solid.-It is sturdy and weighty, chunky weighty, which is OK for some uses, like on carpet for property shooters. (other uses for a monopod it is too heavy).-The flip latches are very nice and feel solid and smooth.-Quick release head. The head is detachable, but so are the feet (which is a major problem as well. see CON list).-Its got a snap in tool?-The feet adjust to more than one position, which is also the other major issue with this pod.-The weight capacity is misleading, and I found other monopod NOT claiming 22lb do BETTER than this short footed model.***Major issue here.Let me explain the issues in the CON section below…CON:-It won a design award for looks? Surely not a functioning award!-The case can only hold the monopod WITHOUT a head. Even my smallest ball head does not fit. THROW AWAY the nice case, as it has NO other use! Waste paid for!-It is NO sturdier than other pods for supporting weight. In fact it is less sturdy than any pod with larger feet. as basic physics is what matters, not the support weight that I fell for in the description. What helps it feel stable is the weight when there is no camera, and that it all. Otherwise its less stable than the Benro you see in the pictures I posted. Benro has longer feet, and is study to hold zoom lens on DSLR.- *Major issue..The feet do not open and lock out at the first position, unlike others. You have to depress the red button to open the feet, and then release it before the first position or you will hunt for the right spot. This makes using this monopod slow, and one more thing to keep in mind when you have plenty other gear to worry about. You should not need to depress and adjust to your monopod, it should just open and snap into position, like the Benro. Then depress to close the feet. Specially when most of the time you will not use the other positions. In fact it is very rare to use other positions, and good luck with the 3 locked positions being aligned and level with the ground you need it for.More gimmick than real world usefulness.-*Major issue…Speaking about level, the major issue with this pod is that you dont really have a level point. Since it has a ball head on the feet, it doesn’t have a locking center position. You have to use a bubble. ANOTHER major time waster! Also makes me wonder how much I can rely on the ball head locking. I dont want to play around with the foot of the monopod while trying to look at a bubble way above it. Makes no sense. Design fail if you ask me.-Its heavy for a monopod that can play as a multi use pod. For some work the weight is a plus. But I rather have a medium weight and deal with that use, and rather have a monopod I don’t mind packing on trips. This is NOT the monopod for that. Its heavier than the Manfrotto in my pictures.(One of the 3 main reasons I returned this.Other wise it is a well made monopod. Not any better than the Benro at least, than half the cost you see in the pictures. That one had a issue with the feet not folding closed well all the time. Not due to staying unlocked, but the latches were designed the same as the twist lock model, without a fixed position and added space. The latches not well designed get in the way of the feet closing. Another design fail.I will review that next.Do I recommend this?NO.Due to the following issues, and the price for it.No way to simply default to level the monopod. Ball head below is awkward and no level indication or leveled lock out.No way to default extend feet to first position. Must depress 3 locks to open. Not any more stable(less stable with its short feet) than other models.Too heavy for general use.

Great monopod! Just two major flaws

I originally purchased the base on its own, but quickly after decided to get the monopod as a package deal. Both worked great, but still wasn’t satisfied, so I exchanged it for the full kit with the head included. It was a nifty purchase and was very portable. When I started rigging up my camera, I attached the quick release to my rig, and noticed two things. The middle clamp on the monopod kept losing traction and slid down when clamped. I thought all I had to do was tighten the Allen screw and whalla, but that wasn’t the case. Secondly, even at the lowest level, it was very unstable and could definitely be knocked over on accident. I would not trust this monopod on its own in the field. I reached out to the customer support team from iFootage, and the first person that emailed me completely ignored my question and gave me a copy and paste answer that I’m sure they give to everyone that contacts them. I replied saying that wasn’t the concern I was addressing, and rephrased my question slightly. Thankfully, I had another associate reply with a solution. This solution however was as you read above, unsuccessful. I had already tried tightening the Allen screw, with no success. It was TIGHT, too tight, yet it kept slipping. The monopod was unusable at that point and I gave up and sent it back. I ended up going with sticks from Manfrotto and I couldn’t be happier! I did repurchase the base of the monopod from iFootage, because that thing is a beast! Definitely don’t recommend the monopod, but I can vouge for the base! I gave this product three stars due to the lack of specialized help and support from iFootage, and for a subpar monopod that doesn’t hold as much as advertised. But that being said, get the base by itself, that one works great! đŸ™ŒđŸ»

Lo compre y lo probe en mi Sony Aplha a7sii y funciono muy bien.

Gran producto, costo beneficio. Materiales robustos. Buenos terminados. Practico sistema de enganche con la cabeza fluida que se compre, sistema de pedal practico y muy util. Lo recomiendo.

Not as sturdy as it should be (with the base mounted). Great just as a monopod.

It works great as a monopod, with the base detached. Feels stable and well made, weight is good. I also like the quick disconnect for the video/ball head. The carry bag is expandable, so I can leave at least a compact video head mounted while carrying. Up to here 5 stars. But: once you attach the base with the three outriggers and tighten the pedal, first of all the weight increases significantly. Now I wouldn’t mind if it would be stable at the same time, which it is not. Although the base hinge and the 3 outriggers look solid, it remains a very shaky unit. When you look closely, you can see the three outrigger legs bending just enough to make you worry about the whole thing tilting over. There is also some play noticeable in the lower ball joint. Therefore, I can only give it 3 stars, and will keep my eyes open for a better alternative.

The top is very hard to put on compared to Cobra 2

The top of the monopod head that detaches is very hard to put on correctly. Quite a few times I thought I had it on and it didn’t really latch. I prefer Cobra 2, which I also have. I thought they could only improve on it, but when I need to attach the head in a pinch, I can’t trust this to do it quickly. Most of the jobs I have require quick action, so this is not my go-to monopod.

    A Monopod with removable feet!!

This is the greatest monopod I have ever used. I have the 71 aluminum shaft one.Its got some weight to it , but not bad, nothing like the big Gitza I used to lug around. It is sturdy enough for DSLR’s and can stand/ balance on its own , but I wouldn’t walk off and leave it .It is no trouble getting it higher or lower quickly. I use it with a variety of heads. I love that it comes with a casealthough the case won’t fit with every head you have. It is a tight fit with a #2 Gitza ball head but it fits. They recommend their IFootage fluid head, and clam it will fit in the case, but I already had the Manfrotto XPRO Fluid Head (MHXPRO-2W) and it would only fit it I really forced it in and then getting it out was a hassle and wast of time. Thats why I got a monopod; to save time. So Im using a medium size Gitza Ball head for now as it fits in their bag. I only want to carry as little as possible these days. All in all, you will not be disappointed with your purchase. You can always quick release a larger Fluid head then carry it separately and it would be faster. The quick release does make it easy to change heads and cameras all at once if you like. That part is fast and a great feature , Its stable and the quick release locks in tight , no wiggle there or turning.Update – a year and 4 mos later!I love it! , feet open at any three points and low ball joint can lean and find a secure anchor point. You can hold the camera and balance and steady a camera at extreme angles to the sure footing- lots of freedom-It’s not a tripod if you are looking for a solid level- but it can be a brilliant steady and allows you some moving around .

Seems well made and well thought out

Have not used this in the field, but I saw a video of someone using this particular model with the FX3 on you tube. I like the single riser option. It was actually kind of hard to find this particular version. It seems like it is going to work out great. If you are shooting video with a DSLR I think you should get a monopod. I like this one. It looks like Ifootage is also coming out with a suction mount car kit that I would keep my eye on as well.

I waited to long to send it back

I ordered this after watching many review videos to get for a trip we are going on.I got it in and did not have time to get to playing with it for a few weeks. At first I liked how it all worked just with no camera on it playing with it and even ordered another mount so I could switch from a video head to just camera. But I had not used it yet for real use.Now after using it I do not like it at all and I am past my return time.Placing my camera on it and standing in front of it to make a video you can see it sway in the lightest wind making for a bad video. It is not stable at all standing by itself for video use. Then using it holding it for video it is also not very stable as you try to pan it will move so even with a good video head it is not smooth VS a real tripod. Then the weight – it is not a lite weight item. The legs at the bottom are quite heavy for what they are. So I placed it on a digital scale and the weight VS my small tripod is almost the same with my tripod only being a few OZ more. But my small tripod is 100% more stable to use for every use it dose not sway in the wind and is stable for panning. Also my old tripod folds up smaller for easy backpack use.So I have brand new item with extra head mount I will never use as my old tripod still works so much better and is smaller when folder down. I will make a video on it soon as well doing a real review from someone that really uses it not just for making a review and VS a real tripod showing the difference in use.

    Almost a perfect monopod

The biggest trouble I’ve had with monopods is that I would be using it for macro photography, so would need to be able to quickly adjust the height depending on bug movement. I couldn’t get past the slowness. This solved the problem with some super clever engineering and made this monopod a dream to work with. The only problem, the only reason I returned it in fact, was how big it was when closed. I had to hand carry it and wouldn’t have been able to easily travel on airplanes with it.I regretted sending it back because there are more positives than negatives. It’s just that the one negative is pretty impactful for me.If you can get past the closed size, it is well worth the money.
