    Top quality tripod

This is a serious tripod, the sturdiest I’ve ever owned. I use it mainly to set up a leveling laser and it is really strong, with tons of adjustment. The friction lock works well because the rods are painted with a grip material. The legs spread locks into place using a mechanical system that rely on metal instead of cheap plastic to hold it together, and sticks in position by gravity. The carrying pouch is extra that I could certainly go without it but it’s nice to keep the hex key and not lose it, until I find a way to attach it to the system for quicker access.

Not bad overall but can have QC issues

This tripod is pretty huge, but it works pretty well. Despite being carbon fiber the size of the aluminum hardware still makes this a hefty thing to carry, though still better than a full aluminum tripod. Considering how tall this tripod is retracted, and even more so when it is extended, this isn’t a huge surprise and a heavier tripod can help mitigate vibrations, for which this one does do a decent job.All the parts are reasonably solid but there is a clear lack in certain creature comfort such as spring loaded leg angle locks. The twist locks for the telescoping legs are good though. Not always super smooth to extend or retract but they lock solidly. Part of the reason the legs don’t extend or retract super smoothly is because the legs are all actually slightly curved inwards. Not necessarily a bad thing though because it won’t be too easy for it to slip down by accident. What I really do appreciate having is a tension knob on the ball head. It gives you a better degree of control, and safety, when adjusting the ball head. The ball head holds pretty well when it comes to cameras even with heavier lenses to a certain degree, but when it comes to a tripod boom arm it is unable to actually hold the position no matter how tight you tighten it, until the weight is perfectly equalized. Not completely unreasonable though since offset weight creates a far larger moment than a heavy lens on a camera. The fact that the tripod can be converted into a monopod is still just a bonus. So considering that this is a relatively inexpensive carbon fiber full sized tripod, the real test will be longevity but it is a little hard to attest for as it stands with the review period. There has been a lot of report of various brand of Chinese carbon fiber tripods being excellent for a while and eventually the glues holding the carbon fiber to the aluminum parts come apart, rendering the tripod useless. It is a little too early to assess, and not something that will always happen to everyone down the line… so longevity is still going to be hard to say. But if you need something that you don’t need to always bring out on long adventures then it can still be a good tripod but it might not be something you can fully rely on for many years.

Heavy and Bulky – I sent it back

I never even tried the tripod as it’s very bulky indeed and pretty heavy. The fact that thge weight is described in ounces is misleading – who the heck can worok in ounces these days? Also I weighted the item and it’s heavier than advertised. Not happy so I sent the item back.

good but it could be better

So this Neewer carbon tripod is about half the price of my old Vanguard tripod, which is also carbon. Are they comparable? in most instances yes. The newer tripod is actually lighter (1.7Kg vs 1.9 Kg), they both have multiple additional setup configurations (upside down, monopod, etc), and it also has a higher reach at almost 81″. I am yet to think of a good application for this 81″ reach but it is worth noting it since it is lighter than my Vanguard. They are both listed as professional products and I think that if I didn’t have something to compare it to, I would feel like I really got a nice product. That said, just working with the Neewer tripod for the first time I noticed that the extension of the legs is not that smooth and there is no way to secure the tripod head permanently so it could be easy to unscrew it. This is an easy mistake to make and my vanguard comes with little screws that can be tightened to prevented me from doing just that accidentally. Comparing the two, the adjustment of the tripod legs on the Neewer is not nearly as intuitive as the vanguard and the structure is not as robust (probably why the vanguard is heavier). Comparing them side by side I can really tell that the legs of the vanguard just slide a bit easier and the mechanism to change the angle of the legs is rather cumbersome on the neewer – this is really something that could make a big difference when you are on the field. On the contrary, the tripod head on the Neweer has more adjustment knobs that are easy to grab, which are a great help when working outdoors. For the price is a good option as an entry level tripod but I wouldn’t recommend it for professional use.Pros: good value, light, high reach, good tripod headCons: legs angle changing mechanism is cumbersome, legs extension is not as smooth as others, tripod head could be easily unscrewed off.

    The last tripod you’ll need!

This tripod is bloody awesome! It is light stable and goes very high! I LOVE it and considering it’s made with carbon tubes the price is pretty reasonable. It would get 5 stars if some of the screwing parts were made of metal. This surprised me because most of neewer products are made with solid metal parts this has some plastic ones which might be to keep it light….. they are the big screwing arms that dethatch other than that I am super happy and can recommend! hope that helps!

Solid Quality Metal Construction; Unique Modular Configurations

The media could not be loaded.

I like that the center shaft of this tripod can be inverted for lower angle photography and video; This gives me a lot more creative flexibility with the positioning versus a traditional tripod. I did not have any difficulty making the conversion from tripod to monopod as the designated leg is easy to remove.Construction wise, I love that the main structural points are solid metal; Everything aspect that I was interacting with had a high rigidity and robust feel. The included ball head adapter had smooth rotation and I appreciate that the rectangular quick plate is large. The only odd thing I noticed is that one of the rubber locking-rings is cracked; I am not certain over time that the cracks with get larger after extended use. So far, the other rubber locking-ring seem fine and they do not have any damage.Overall, I like the how this folds up into a much smaller foot print; The travel bag feels adequately padded the zippers felt smooth. I did notice the feet are only a silicone rubber option and I will most likely swap them out for the metal spike feet to help securing this tripod into the ground outdoors.

    Great value

It’s heavy duty/heavy. My other ones weigh a few pounds. This is probably the weight of both put together. That is what I wanted. It’s sturdy. It’s all metal. (Minus the foot stops which are rubber). I was looking for a tripod to stand up to the wind out here. This is good enough I probably will not need to sand bag it. For reference I often have to fight 30+mph winds on a sunny day. I set it up last night in the wind on the porch and it didn’t budge. I don’t have to worry about it toppling over.Everything moves. It’s all adjustable. I will be able to multi use it with my teleprompter as well.

Small packed size, very light and also sturdy. I use a Sigma 150-600 S and anyone else who has will say it’s a heavy SOB. I attach a gimble head to this tripod and she’s ready to go! Happy with this purchase.

    No handle

Overall this is a decent tripod and it has a lot going for it. The reason for the low rating is the lack of a handle. Changing direction or elevation requires holding the cameral and moving it. I would have liked a handle to accomlish those tasks. Another review said it was not smooth, and I agree with that assessment. I think a handle might help here, but I’m not sure. Put a handle on it and I would go 5 stars, Neewers higher end tripods have a handle, I guess this is one way to use carbon fiber and keep the cost down.

    Not good for travel.

It’s a great tripod. The leg locks are a bit finicky but you’ll get used to it. It’s a great tripod, sturdy, the fluid head could be better for panning. This is kinda heavy for travel. And it’s not advertised as a travel tripod.

    Sturdy tripod

Carbon fiber makes a difference in terms of build quality. it’s lighter and stronger than tripods that use aluminum or other metals. The center column’s versatility allows you to take it off and use it to extend the length of one of the legs or to use it as a monopod. I find that feature rather interesting, and one that I will experiment with when I go to a park to practice photography there. The macro shooting option brings more value to the table as it does allow you to mount your camera in an upside-down fashion, you can get super-low shots using this method.Storage is also pretty great because the legs can be bent in a 180-degree fashion so that the entire tripod is folded in half. This allows you to store it in more places thanks to the smaller, more compact size. The ball head is one I would change, however. This is because I mainly do video, and it isn’t a fluid head or anything like that, but this would be of no concern for photographers. Other than that, I do like the tripod.Recommended!

One of the best tripods I have ever used

Tripods are a staple for real photographers. I own six. Truthfully, there’s no good reason to own six, but I am somehow fascinated by them and always seem to find a better than the last one I own.I doubt I will ever find one better than this NEWEER 80.7″ Tripod. It has features that make photography easy.HEADPLATE: Like all good tripods, the head plate is removeable. That means you could leave it attached to your camera, if you wish, or store it with the tripod. The mounting allows it to slide back and forth so it can be off center (presumably for weight balancing if the legs are purposefully set unevenly).BALANCE: There is a balance bubble atop the tripod, so you can tell when you are level. Very handy!BUILD: Aluminum (as most of these are) with a really strong feel! This won’t knock over with a mild breeze or an accidental bump.ANGLEABILITY: I don’t think I have seen another tripod with more options to angle the camera! The top ball joint allows the head to swing up to what I think is 135 degrees including straight to the ground. The tripod also allows it to rotate 360 degrees around with a built-in reference to let you know what measure you are at (handy if you are later stitching photos together and need precise measures.COMPACT STORAGE: The legs fold inverted, and the folded unit is just 20″ Easy for me to carry anywhere. Especially since they also include a carry bag with handles. Very niceEXPANSION: Solid screw type locks allow the legs to extend for use. Red highlighting doesn’t just give the tripod a really sleek look (which they do) but they make it easy to see the screw locks.I have to say that every NEEWER product I use seems really thought out and high quality.OK After writing the review, I come to the conclusion this is the BEST trip I have ever used. I will be storing this one in my car for use wherever I go.

I really, really, like this tripod.

I’m a professional photographer and have several tripods. I’ve found that Neewer produces good quality equipment at good prices. It definitely holds true for this tripod. This brings together many of the best features of high-end tripods at a reasonable price. The first thing that attracted me to this one is the height. With the legs spread enough for support, the head is nearly seven feet high. You may not think you need a tripod this tall, but there are many cases such as when in stairs or a hill that it helps a lot to be able to extend the lower legs and still have a tall tripod. For me, I want to use it to place off-camera lights up high for events. I know lighting stands are used frequently, but they can be flimsy and easy for someone to knock over. The carbon fiber construction makes it lightweight for the stability that it has. I also really like the twisting leg connectors that allows the legs to be extended and retracted very quickly. The tripod head that comes with it is decent quality, and the legs fall back to make it much more compact than you typically find with a large tripod! the bag that comes in is a really nice quality. It looks sophisticated and worthy of a high-quality tripod. I think this is an excellent find if you need a good tripod, but are on a limited budget!

This tripod is AWESOME!! Pro-Level build quality, strong, sturdy and lightweight.

I was so excited when I opened the package and saw the immediately the Pro-Level build quality, with the very smooth carbon fiber and metal locking mechanisms.Everything about this tripod is super good quality. All of the joints are nice and tight, yet smooth when folding out the legs. It is very lightweight and compact, yet very sturdy and strong once you set it up.I love the inverted position where you can hang your camera down low to the ground for some of those epic shots. The monopod conversion feature is also fantastic, eliminating the need to carry a tripod and a monopod separately. You just simply unscrew one of the legs and then reattach it to the ball-head section. You’ll see what I’m talking about in my photos.I think the main features I really like is how compact it is and yet extremely sturdy and strong. And as I mentioned, the build quality is Pro-Level. Once again, NEEWER has produced another excellent product!! I would give it seven stars if I could.

    Cheap Chinese Crap

I have an earlier version of this tripod that was purchased several years ago. Initially, it seems like a good sturdy tripod, but it does not stand up to moderate use. The gaskets that lock the legs are cheap plastic and break down over time. Spend a little more money and get a Three Legged Thing or Peak tripod that will last.

About all you need from a lightweight tripod!

This is now my go-to tripod to strap on the backpack for a shoot! It’s lightweight, but feels really durable, and deploys quickly. The monopod option is nice for a quick run on the move. It’s plenty stable for my needs.Big thumbs up!

    Fantastic Tripod!

I was really impressed by this tripod! I’m relatively new to photography so I asked someone who has over a decade of experience and he was also impressed. The tripod can extend to very tall heights and it can be adjusted to fit a variety of terrains. There are two levels on the Mount and a place to hang a sandbag underneath for even more weight and stability. The carrying bag is compact and easy to carry.I can’t find one thing that I don’t like about this tripod! It has everything I would want in this kind of equipment

    Nice size

This tripod feels nicer and lighter than my old tripod. I love that you can fold it quickly, and it is compact, making it easier to store and carry. I feel it would not hold a large lens, but standard-size lenses will do great. I mainly want this tripod for my GoPro, which will work perfectly.

Sturdier than I thought it would be.

When I first mounted my 10/22 to this bipod, I was unsure if it would hold level, and very unsure if my heavier rifle would stay level.I setup the 10/22 and put a level on the barrel and made sure it was level. I left it on the tripod for three days without touching it. I was pleasantly surprised that it had held level. The next test, which I figured it would fail, was a much heavier rifle. I set this up again, level, and let it sit for several days. The rifle was level at the end of my test and made me very happy. I had already picked out a new heavier duty head, and no longer feel the need to upgrade. This tripod does have a center post, so you can only get so low to the ground. If that is something you want to do with this, take note. I didn’t get this for that purpose so it’s just about perfect for my needs. It is really sturdy, and as pointed out the head does a great job of holding position.I have not had it at the range yet, but I expect it to hold up just fine. If it does not, I will update my review.

    Primeras impresiones

    Very good tripod

I wish I had got this earlier! Excellent for its price, light weight, packs really small.I use a Canon R6, with 24-70 L Lens, Canon Flash gun, attached to a Manfrotto pro video head and found it reasonably steady.

This tripod is very strong, and yet very light to carry! Fantastic for photographers!

I am so very impressed with the Neewer brand of photographic and videography equipment. I’ve been using the Neewer brand of equipment for the better part of a year now and I feel that most of their equipment and gear are at a professional grade level, but for a much better price tag than big brand names. This Neewer 80.7” Carbon Fiber Camera Tripod/ Monopod is no exception. It is professional all the way, being top quality. It has many features that I like, with the ball head, light weight, and ruggedness being the most important to me. It has a panning ring that works great for when taking panoramas. This tripod with this particular ball head is specifically designed for cameras being used for photography, not that it can’t be used for videography, but without a panning handle, it is meant more for photography. With this ball head and camera mount, you can tilt and angle your camera into positions that aren’t possible on standard, basic tripods that don’t have ball heads. Using the ball head adjustment knobs to position the camera is very intuitive. The tripod is very light and strong because it is made of carbon fiber. It is also compact and comes with a nice looking soft shell, padded carrying case and shoulder strap. Unlike some tripods, the Neewer Professional Camera tripod’s legs move independently of each other. The legs have 3 angle adjustment positions that can be locked in using easy buttons. – See pictures• Low – legs almost lay flat out• Medium – legs are wide for stability• High – legs are more narrowly spread. The centre shaft can easily be inverted which is fantastic for very low-to-the-ground shots. An added feature that I very much enjoy about this tripod is that one of the legs can detach from the tripod to be converted into a Monopod! This feature is absolutely fantastic for my use! Another unexpected, but very cool feature is that the monopod leg can double as a walking stick! This is my favourite photography tripod and I am so happy that I ordered it. The price is very reasonable for the quality and features. I highly recommend “NEEWER Upgraded 80.7″ Carbon Fiber Camera Tripod Monopod with Telescopic 2 Section Center Axes, and 360° Panorama Ball head”.Absolutely 5 stars from me!

    gut verarbeitet

    Great travel tripod!

I got this tripod to augment my travel and city centre portrait shoots. My Manfrotto is more sturdy but also much heavier. At full extension, the Neewer stands nearly 6” taller than the Manfrotto! As you can see from the images, I was able to do 30-second exposure shots with no problems at all. Being carbon fibre, it is also warmer to the touch than my aluminium Manfrotto. It is really flexible in the number of configurations it can be used in which again trumps my Manfrotto. The quick release plate isn’t as solid as my Manfrotto, but it still held my Canon 5diii and the 85mm lens with no major issues. Really useful and well made product!

I just find my new travel best friend.

This is my first time with this kind of tripod. I must admit I was skeptical with the absence of braces, well, I was so wrong, and the lack of centre brace brings so many possibilities. Let’s take a more in-depth look.Angle lock: I would have preferred some spring-loaded locks, but they work good. The 3 locking positions are enough for me. Having them individually adjustable really makes it possible to place the camera in spots that would not be possible otherwise.Length lock: Twist lock work smoothly, except for the removable centre tube, all section stays inline, and you can tighten the section in an order without fear of having all the tube rotating. The centre section has some alignment locking, but not at the removable section.Ball head: The ball head is smooth, the manual doesn’t specify that the big knob is for damping and the other for locking. Honestly, they work just about the same, but having one knob to adjust friction and the other to lock is pretty convenient. The damping effect is not totally uniform at every position, but still excellent. No issue on pan, it works correctly.Ease of conversion: going from tripod to monopod is actually easy, unscrew the head or the bottom cap, then one leg and screw things back together. Large 3/8 hold pretty good.Size: Both pleasantly compact and surprisingly high. There is so much height from such a small travel size. The extension mechanism is firm, so I can really use the full height without compromising the stability.Overall, I was pleasantly surprised, this is a great tripod, and I’m no more skeptical, at least not about that specific one.

I needed a light tripod for travel, and this is it

I found this to be very solid and very stable. It is very light so using the hook to add weight is needed but I was very impressed.

    Vibrates like a spring

Nothing to indicate this tripod wouldn’t be good as it looks good and has nice design but if I can’t use my spotting scope on this tripod at any height as if it gets bumped it keeps vibrating like a tuning fork. It took so long to ship (just over a month) that i didn’t get to use it before the return window ended and now I am left with a useless item.I wish I had cried once and bought an better one than now having to buy 2.

    Broken upon arrival

The tripod came broken upon arrival, cheap plastic bit that mounts the head was broken. Overall construction of the tripod feels solid, and the head mount is sturdy, but the cheap plastic inside is prone to breaking. Needs to be made with a stronger material.

    Great tall, lightweight tripod

This tripod is versatile, lightweight, and stable. This is an upgrade for me from the Neewer 60+ inch tripod. If anything, the head on this tripod is smoother. After decades of portraiture I’m enjoying practicing landscapes and macros using this tripod.

Pan and tilt ball head is very stiff to move

While the tripod itself is just what I was looking for and I’m extremely happy with the features and the way it functions, The ball head leaves a lot to be desired. With all the tightening knobs loosened to the point of falling out, it takes considerable effort to pan and tilt. I do not wish to purchase a different head and thought I could repair it my self but I can find no directions to take it apart.

Definitely a beginners tripod. May feel rough to experienced photographers.

On the one hand this is a product that is rougher in quality then I typically come to expect from NEEWER. But on the other hand it is a carbon fiber tripod that is priced like an aluminum one. This is a full complete tripod which means it comes with the legs and the base and a head. Typically on high in tripods you will buy the legs and base separately and then you will choose which head to use and occasionally even which platform mount ( The top part of the head that attaches to the camera ) to use. So you get everything here. The fit and finish of this tripod isn’t bad but it is less than I am used to from this company. This is definitely a budget model and it is a beginners model. But on the other hand you are getting a carbon fiber tripod which is significantly lighter weight, in a fairly portable package. I wouldn’t call this a traveler‘s tripod because in my mind those are 15 inches and under but it’s the next step up and is still portable and it is very light. So the places where I really notice the shortcomings are in the mechanical parts of the ball head and the lack of smoothness and fluidity in the motion. There are three knobs on the head and the first knob is for panning. The large knob is simply to unlock and lock the ball and the smaller knob that is higher up is to adjust the tension. But the motion just is never that smooth. The instructions only ever refer to one knob for the ball though they show both knobs in the diagram so I wanted to clear that up.The Arca Swiss mount is somewhat of the same. It will lock your camera securely but you can just feel the lack of smoothness and precision when you open and close the clamp. I wouldn’t call it gritty but it’s not the silky smooth I’m used to in my other gear. The legs do lock and fold upward and there is a weight hook at the bottom of the center column were you can add weight to help stability. This is only a four section tripod and it’s short so in order to make up for its lack of height it has a 2 section center column and that’s where you’re going to lose most of your stability. You’re going to want to deploy the legs first and only raise the center if you need the extra height. The locking rings are secure but they are a little sticky. Again all the mechanical actions on this tripod are just a little bit short of what I’m used to but entirely sufficient for the task. I may not be the right guy to review this because I am used to using very expensive professional photography gear. But I am still a good judge of quality I’m just concerned that it sounds like I’m being harsh. Quality of this tripod I think is still above its price point. You’re getting your moneys worth. I just want to be very clear about the individual aspects, both the benefits and the shortcomings. There is nothing wrong with his tripod and I think at $130 you’re getting quite a bargain for a full carbon fiber set up. But if this had the quality that I am used to it would cost 300 to $500. So there is definitely a trade-off and I think this makes a good first tripod for beginners. It is much lighter than aluminum and so you’re libel to take it wherever you go. A tripod that stays in the closet is useful to no one.
