    An amazing computer/tablet.

I had an old Surface 3, which served me well over the years. However it was time to upgrade and to my astonishment, my new Surface Pro 9 blew my mind. The speed, the screen size and colors were a welcome upgrade. I’m very impressed and I recommend this machine over an iPad Pro, without reservation.

    Excelente dispositivo; gran calidad

    I’m So Impressed

It’s been 24 hours and I’m super happy with my purchase. The Surface Pro is powerful, compact, and easy-to-use. So great that I can take this anywhere with me and set up shop without a whole bunch of extras. The pen tool is so convenient, and Windows 11 is easier to use than I imagined. All-in-all a great purchase!

    Love this thing

I love this pc/tablet. I’ve wanted one for years but never pulled the trigger on one. I don’t regret it one bit. The touch screen is amazingly responsive, better than i expected. I’m not a fan of windows 11 but i couldn’t imagine any other with a touchscreen pc/tablet like this.

    Software incompatible

It starts with Windows 11. A number of issues with my older applications. Biggest problem: ARM platform is not compatible with locally stored Dropbox data. I cannot live with that. It’s how I have worked for years across multiple machines. Machine has great screen and is quite fast. I really wanted the cell phone interface, but the Dropbox issue killed it. I had to return the machine.

Its slow, it lags, it cannot process most of the data. And i am not a heavy user

i7, 32gb ram, 1tb ssd. And still it lags, it is slow in processing. I am not even running any data intensive programs. Simply, word, excel, browser. Like the portability, but this is really slow.

What not to love about this?

Very comfortable, has everything you need for …. one small issue is a charger, on my old model it broke wires where the charging port is, but found cheap replacement on amazon just for $8.. wow! thank you amazon for great deals!! the original charger is scary expensive 😉

    Karma is not real

The moment I held it in my hands, I immediately knew I did not deserve to have this device. I now know karma definitely does not exist because none of my sins have stopped me from acquiring this beautiful piece of body. The way it stands proudly upright with the kickstand firmly against my table makes my cheap studio apartment look like an urban chic bachelorette pad on a hit tv show. The crisp images, the ease of integration, the jealous stares, the entire experience really just builds on itself.

Two month review of Surface 9 Pro

I bought this because I wanted a true 2 in 1 and not a foldable laptop. While I like everything about the Surface 9 Pro, I wish the keyboard was back lit. I frequently work in dim places and I became spoiled with my HP laptop that was back lit. There are so many features that I have not even scratched the surface (no pun intended) of that this thing can do….ESPECIALLY using the pen!! The color (blue) is awesome and I get lots of comments about it. Screen is beautiful, speakers are loud , and it’s really fast! All in all, I think it’s well worth the money!

NO PORT for standard USB memory card.

Same Surface Pro as before (had a Pro 6 for years) but thinner. Didn’t realize that. Now the necessary add-on port is taking FOREVER to reach me; had to cancel one order because apparently the add-on was lost like Atlantis in the mail.No clue why a newer model didn’t have what people have come to expect it to. We can’t all use those terrible C-model flash drives (won’t operate on certain systems, like my car’s port etc.)

The only issue I have is that a product labeled “pro” should come with Windows 11 business not home. I had to spend an extra $100 to get business edition so I could join it to our office 365 domain

    Cool new features

I upgraded from a Pro 7. I ended up just getting rid of my desktop because I use this Surface for EVERYTHING. Between writing my novels, to photoshop, to multiple excels and browsers opened at the same time. I haven’t had a single issue. I love the dual monitor capabilities and the wider screen.

    Better than expected

Reviews on this thing are all over the place. After several weeks of review and 2+decades of nothing but Dell, I really wanted to take the 2in1 leap and settled on the Surface Pro 9. I have been extraordinarily pleased. I’ve used it for work, entertainment, meetings (note taking), presentations, and more, all in the course of about 6 hours. I have had some quirks (taskbar icons disappearing, having the screen go black and not waking, keyboard not connecting properly the first time (or 2), but nothing deal breaking or game changing. Contrary to some reviews, I really (REALLY) like the keyboard folio. So just one example of how one person’s peeve can be another person’s pleasure. If you’re looking at this device, try to get your hands on one and use it for a few minutes before deciding. Kind of anathema to Amazon’s model, but if you’re gonna spend $1k+, do yourself a favor and see it in person. You’ll thank me. At any rate, for me, I am very pleased with this device and purchase, and recommend it to others. YMMV.

    Nice laptop

Tons of reviews on MS Surfaces. I am not a gamer but for the fun of it, loaded up Quake and it played it well enough for me. It connects well to other devices and I use it for diagnostics on cars and as a scan tool. It could use a few more connections for sure. And it is annoying that MS doesn’t allow third party keyboards to interface/charge from the tablet. Maybe I’ll tear apart my cheapo keyboard and make it work with MS as it should have happened.

It’s fancy, software apps works great, battery is not good

I bought this Microsoft Surface and it really works for me. I also bought some complementary stuff such as keyboard, USB dock station, Bluetooth pen and screen protector.Screen image is great. Videos and AUTOCAD drawing shows great. I installed AUTOCAD viewer, not the full app, because it doesn’t comply software requirements for correct use. But that is my election, so computer is fine on that.Office and Microsoft 365 app runs perfect. It works good. But the only thing is that battery is not 15 hours use. To me it is maybe 4 to 5 hours. So that l is why I don’t give 5 starsI do recommend this product for executives. It is great look.

This is my second Surface Pro and they are really great for a 2 in 1 Product

The screen quality is amazing! The battery life I question and so far after a few charges am disappointed. Unfortunately, I have sold my old computer and cannot return this and get another. Overall it is a great laptop/tablet – connects easily to Bluetooth everything. You still have to get an adapter and there isn’t a port for the standard headphone jack.

    Advertised as a laptop/tablet, but only a tablet…

Advertised as a laptop/tablet, but only a tablet… It arrived and had no keyboard – was literally just the tablet and charger. Went back and scoured the product and found in small, small print tucked away in the listing, it did disclaim this, but it was very inobvious.. I went order a separate keyboard and the Microsoft ones ($200+) popped up and I was slightly irked as I had just dropped almost $2k on this thing. I then thankfully found the Bluetooth keyboards for much cheaper. FYI (FWIW) I purchased a $40 Bluetooth keyboard that came in a case and I’ve really been pleased.

    Nice 2 in 1

The Surface Pro 9 is replacing my Surface Book 2 as my main computer. Program tools for AutoCAD Civil 3D and BricsCAD Pro for Civil Engineers. The Surface Pro 9 is work well. Only up and running as a replacement for a week. Windows 11 is new to me and so many features removed vs Windows 10, and changes I needed to adjust my work flow. I do not build large Civil 3D surface models, or require super fast graphic (no gaming). Need the Surface Pro 9 to run Visual Studio, Multiple version of AutoCAD, BricsCAD, and have multiple Excel files open at once, and so far it is working as needed.

Differences between new and older Surface Pros

This is my second Surface Pro. Disappointed a hub is now required for wired headphones and USB. The separate keyboard is not backlit. The task bar is now locked in position, while I prefer to have at the top of my screen. So far, so good regarding battery life.

    Not good for drawing applications.

I bought this, half for college work, and half for digital drawing. Using a stylus makes the lines jitter. Just holding the pen over the screen and moving it around, you can visibly see the crosshair jump around, as if the tracking is low resolution. Trying to draw a straight diagonal line is impossible. Even looking into the issue on the forums and other websites just yeilds the fact that this has been a common issue since the begining of the surface product line. None of the “fixes” the microsoft support suggest helped. Redownloading drivers, using a different pen nib, charging the pen all the way, restarting the tablet, nothing.Other complaints, are that the keyboard will often not pop up immediatly when you tap on a search bar. You need to tap off then back on a few times. Turning the screen takes a hot minute for it to register that you turned it. The battery life was good. It gets a little warm. Rediculous that it doesnt come with a stylus for how much you pay for it. The screen was a little too soft to the touch. You can physicaly press it in with not much force. Even using the stylus caused wakes in the pixels that you get if you ever tapped on a tv screen.I will admit however that it was fast. It was VERY nice that the storage is upgradable through a magnetic door on the back. The screen looked amazing, the sound was good for its size. It had a quality heft to it but not so much as to be too heavy. I liked how firm the built in stand was.Overall, I would say that it is a good tablet for typical windows applications like office and browsing the web, but poor for art applications or anything that requires detailed drawing.

Grad student that upgraded from the Pro 3. Not terrible but underwhelming for the price

TL, DR:Too expensive for the imperfect and modest performance it delivers when selecting the highest spec option. No discrete graphics and a much more modest Intel processor than mainstream notebook processors. Less satisfied with this given the price than my Surface Pro 3. If you buy, maybe buy the i5 16 GB RAM, but I advise against it.Full review:I previously used a Surface Pro 3 from 2013 until I received the Pro 9. Upgraded, because I noticed that the Pro 3 cannot use many recent software applications. Would hang when I used it for casual games like league of legends and more. The eight gigs of RAM were also a big recent bottleneck. Often found myself looking at task manager to free RAM by terminating apps or closing tabs. I felt the Pro 3 was very capable for engineering and school applications. I would run MATLAB, Word, and check component spec. sheets. I have done some programming and even networking labs for engineering classes. I used the pen to ink and track my lectures and assignments. The pen was good enough and surprised me with how well it worked—especially since I think I damaged the display by placing a coffee mug on the screen as an undergrad. The Pro 9 is a lot cleaner and smoother. I personally hate what Windows 10 became and what 11 is now. Mostly surveillance tech and unnecessary personalization attempting to mimic or unify mobile and desktop platforms by offering a desktop experience with weird things like news and weather integrated into the user experience. That said, the Pro 9 runs it well. I do think in a lot of ways it is an improvement. I do notice some inking issues on Onenote when both notetaking and recording audio simultaneously. THe inking has an issue where the last inked object will momentarily disappear. Sometimes it will hiccup and not ink. I also noticed that older pens with softer tips have a tendency to ink fuzzy and bolder than the slim pen I acquire separately. I will get my artist buddy to check it out and provide feedback on the experience and see what he thinks about the inking. Maybe update then.I also noticed the battery life with just web browser, OneNote (inking and audio recording), and perhaps Adobe Acrobat drain the battery a lot sooner than expected. The machine is new and hardly used for anything but grad school stuff. I think I used it for two or three school day and it was dying…Overall, not worth the 2.5k for the machine and especially if you need to pay an extra 200 to 300 for the pen and keyboard cover. I am certain there are options much better for the money and this machine will not age well at all since Microsoft decided to make it next to impossible to upgrade simple things like RAM or secondary storage. The graphics will also likely not hold up now or later…IF you really want a Surface, buy the i5 and consider getting at least 16 GB RAM. The storage is not a problem since external storage is cheaper and more convenient and the Pro 9 features USB 4.0.

When portability and ease of use matter more than cost.

I have been only impressed by this pc. When I first bought this I waffled back and forth on whether I should return this and just get Asus’ Flow Z13 (same form factor but thicker and similar price but with a dGPU for gaming). I have never had a day where I wished I bought the other. I would consider myself a power user for this product.1. My work “station” consists of this Surface Pro 9, a portable 15.6 in 1080p 165hz gaming monitor that is vertical, an ultrawide 38in 1440p 180hz monitor, a wireless keyboard, and a wireless mouse. All of this is plugged into the surface dock 2 which uses the surface connector. For those that don’t know, traditionally it is very hard for any computers to run multiple displays extended, some older CPU’s/GPU’s won’t run or have trouble running 2 displays with different size, resolution, and refresh rates. This little laptop is running 3 high refresh rate monitors whose stats are all different in every way and I’ve never had display issues aside from me partially plugging in the surface connector (which is user error on my part.)2. In addition to my wonky display setup, the software suite that I run all day is fairly heavy. I have Edge open with 5 tabs, Chrome open with 30+ tabs, Outlook (which is a deplorable and hateful app to use), Excel, File Explorer, and Adobe Acrobat DC. I’ve never noticed slowdowns, hitches, or weird behaviors DESPITE my abuse of this little tonka truck of a pc. Do note that my model has 32gb of RAM and I knew that I would need the 32gb. As of right now I am writing this review while ALL of my work things are open and my RAM usage is at 51%. Sometimes I will even stream Youtube or Spotify in the background while working with headphones plugged in or through bluetooth. It’s pretty wild to see how far the Surface Pro line has really come in the last decade.3. Also, everyone says this and it is true, the screen is gorgeous! Bright, vivid, snappy and I LOVE this aspect ratio!. It’s a blast to work on and the touchscreen functionality feels great. I did give Mircosoft my left kidney for this as in addition to the SP9 and SurfDock 2, I also bought the Surface Pen Slim and the SP9 keyboard. It’s a lot of extra money but ease of use and function for work was my priority. Not to infrequently I have to sign things digitally or need a customer so sign a doc for me digitally. With Acrobat DC and the surface pen its almost too easy. I’ve gotten rid of my printer/scanner. Doing this for any important docs is great! The keyboard has storage slot for the slim pen that also wirelessly charges the slim pen while it is sitting in there. Pen is always charged and handy, doesn’t fall out like the Asus Flow Z13’s pen (and like other comp too) and it just works! setup was automatic and fast, another facet to this product that I’ve had no issues with and only joy using!4. I even love using this for photo editing in Adobe Lightroom. Now LR has offloaded a lot of their rendering to the cloud so you don’t need the beefiest GPU anymore, it would help a little but the experience of editing on this compared to my 6-year-old tower with a GTX 1080 in it has been a noticeable upgrade just because of the CPU being so much better and having so many more cores. So I’ve even been pleasantly surprised with photo editing on this. being able to unplug and do the editing from couch with my Surface Pen made me enjoy photo editing for the first time in over a decade. I could do this while sitting next to my wife and kids and they got to be a part of the editing process by giving feedback since I could sit WITH them instead of in a separate room alone! So this pc is a win for my family.5. Its portability makes this great for being my office and my home work computer. 1 pc at 2 locations that is so light I forget it’s in my bag sometimes! Light and thin but the screen is still 14 in so it is easy enough to work from. Sure the kickstand hurts like hell on your legs for any amount of time more than 2 minutes but I didn’t buy a LAPtop I bought a Windows TABLET as almost all of my work requires me to work at a desk. However the kickstand is one of the sturdiest and nicest ones that I’ve used. Complete confidence in it and it can really let the SP9 get low to the table effectively turning it into a drawing tablet. One other thing to note that isn’t advertised the best, SSD is accessible by opening the kickstand and with just pushing against a levered/magnetic cover on the back of the SP9. the SSD is held in with a single philips screw and removing or replacing the drive doesn’t seem to void the warranty which is awesome. For those that know Outlook is a destroyer of any kind of hard drive so that was a HUGE plus for me.6. Despite the cost being high for the hardware that has gone into this device, it has effectively saved me money from having to buy another PC for just at home. Plus, when paired with a dock, it really is like having 2 computers, and that is the price premium you are paying for should you buy this.7. Battery life is the best that I have yet experienced out of a Windows laptop so far. When I am using it to watch YouTube in the evening I average 6-7 hours of use with the backlit keyboard plugged and on. It has great battery health settings for those who will use it docked. Some sobering negatives:1. not very ‘lapable’ due to the kickstand but can be done with the willpower of David Goggins and the thighs of a Greek god2. Cost, it is high just from the viewpoint of the hardware you get at this price.3. Only comes with charger, no other accessories are included. This can greatly add to the cost especially since the current generation of accessories are the priciest they’ve been. However, I do feel that they are the best quality accessories yet, if you stick with the Mircosoft brand of stuff. It really does add to the convenience and plug-and-play nature of it all. Conclusion: An awesome, light, snappy, powerful experience that when viewed as a way to save time, is worth the cost. Brilliant screen and first-party accessories. Battery is more than good enough, especially when compared to other Windows PCs. I highly recommend this.

The best laptop I’ve had in years

For a slim laptop running a real OS, the Surface is as close to perfection as one can get. It’s lightweight but not flimsy. The keyboard and touchpad are responsive and feel good to the touch. The screen is gorgeous. The processor is fast, wifi is blazing fast, and the webcam is crystal clear. The only downside, perhaps, is the price — my company bought this for me — otherwise the $2k price tag for the surface + keyboard would have put me off.If you’re using it for work, you really need the keyboard, the machine isn’t really useable for word processing without it.It’s the best laptop I’ve had in a long time. I was a hard-core Apple fan until 2017 when I bought a MacAir with a defective keyboard. I think the combination of having real Windows plus the gorgeous lightweight but robust hardware makes the Surface far better than anything offered by Apple at the moment.

All around excellent computer, fast, well built, stable.

My wife had a Surface Pro 3 from 2014 which was still working well, but could not be upgraded any more and will not be supported much longer. I bought this Surface Pro 9 as a gift, and it is solid, fast, and great to use.Configuration is Core i7 256gb SSD 16gb RAM. This much RAM is the sweet spot using Windows 11, and this computer is MUCH faster than her old surface.I did not buy the pen because she never used it with her old computer, but I did buy the Signature keyboard (bought from Microsoft since Amazon didn’t have it in the matching color) because it definitely is solid and types well. But those who really type strongly might prefer to use a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse from Logitech like the MK270, which is excellent. The USB-C / Thunderbolt connection works excellent for a hub in order to connect to ethernet and an extra monitor, although I don’t care for the high location on the side of the computer – if you want to use the Surface standing up with a second monitor, a right-angle cable helps, search on Amazon for “Thunderbolt Cable Right Angle.”I tested using my Thunderbolt hub, and the video is fast and solid looking. But my wife uses it just as a tablet and table top computer, so she doesn’t need the extra connections.

decent upgrade to an older surface

Bought this to replace my aging surface pro 4. Really liked that one, but the screen had issues and it couldn’t cool itself enough anymore.Best new features of this new model: USBC! You can also charge with USBC, even on a very slow charger. Even the usbc port in my outlet was enough (though slow at only 12 watts). Can’t give it 5 stars though. The battery life is not great (I have an i5 model). I was really expecting all day battery, but it’s more like 4-ish hours or so. I don’t know what it’s rated for, but i expected more. The keyboard doesn’t fit as well up against the screen as my old one. It has a space for a pen, but it won’t fit the pen from my older surface. It also covers part of the bottom of the screen. There is no MicroSD slot anymore, which is a bummer. Good news is that the hard drive is replaceable. It would be WAY cheaper to get the smallest hard drive and upgrade with an aftermarket drive. Unfortunately, if you get the smallest drive, you’ll also be ram limited. I have an 8GB model, but I really should have upgraded to the 16. 8GB just isn’t enough these days.

    Seems great.

Just got it, so too early to determine battery life and many of its other functions. But this is my third Surface Pro (had original, Surface Pro 6, and now this Surface Pro 9. So I am obviously very happy with this Microsoft line of products.

    Nice tablet

I have the keyboard and I use it as a laptop. It’s boot time is fairly quick. I wish it had more ports on it. I have had numberous surfaces over the years and like this one the most. I use this more then my laptop.

    So hapy I purchased this!

I’ve been thinking about and weighing the pros and cons of purchasing the Surface Pro for several years – I am SO glad that I finally decided to get it. I love my iPad and it can do a lot of things – but the benefits of a PC in a tablet mobile format are wonderful! I can do everything on this that I can on my desktop and do it at the coffee shop! Win – win – win.
